... once read (true or not) after Mick joined the Stones he did so much coke that he had to have plastic surgery on his nose (ask a Trump) but the article didn't mention if he had a full body blood transfusion (ask Keith) or drown a band mate in the pool (ask Mick) making truth stranger than fiction in rock&roll.

Mick Taylor is a Blues man, one of the best. The Rolling Stones,,,You could say Mick had outgrown them. And I know he tired of Jagger/Richards as his contributions were all over the place and ignored. He took his guitar, pride and left. The stones haven't been the same after his departure. A 20 year old Mick Taylor took the Stones to places they haven't been before, 69-74 were the Zenith years for the Rolling Stones, in my humble opinion. His rendition of Hendrix's " Red House " Priceless,,,,,And, for all you Mick Taylor fans, check out " Apolitical Blues " with Lowell George. Once again, priceless,,,,,,,

See that's the thing. Mick T was the best thing that ever happened to the Stones, but one gets the feeling that without the Jagger-Richards song framework to work on, he was just another really good player (and there were several at the time) - yes the Glimmer Twins did shaft him with respect to songwriting credits and all that but then again, without those tunes, his stellar embellishments wouldn't have caught our attention to the extent that they have - anyway, I say MT with the Stones on the Hyde Park DVD and I was mega pleased. I'm a two-bit guitar player myself, and I go around telling people that they need to be able to have the sort of feel MT had - or else they should pick up the fucking kanjeera (Indian instrument that you don't have to hear about)

I saw Mick at the Freebird Cafe owned by Ronnie Van Zant's sister back in 2000. there were very few people there, maybe 30 or 40, which was shocking. it was one of the best shows I've ever seen. he did a meet and greet after the show and he looked very tired. of course the guy in front of me was "that" guy, drunk and rambling on and on and Mick just had this face that said it all. finally the guy's girlfriend or whatever she was and a security guard had to tell him his time was up. I gave Mick a smile, told him "lovely show thanks for coming to play for us", shook his hand and told him good night. yes that's right, I shook Mick Taylor's hand.

Mick Taylor was a huge part of "Can't you hear me knockin'" from the Stones. been a Big Fav of mine..... "In 1979, Taylor said: "Can't You Hear Me Knocking is one of my favorites. (The jam at the end) just happened by accident; that was never planned. Towards the end of the song I just felt like carrying on playing. Everybody was putting their instruments down, but the tape was still rolling and it sounded good, so everybody quickly picked up their instruments again and carried on playing. It just happened, and it was a one-take thing. A lot of people seem to really like that part." "

Splendid......... Hope he's doing better health-wise these days; it would be nice to have him playing for many more years to come. Although not a lot was recorded, Mick laid down some awesome vibes on stage when he was with Jack Bruce for a brief time. It was more jazz/fusion than blues, but brilliant none the less; showing just how wide his range really was. But a bluesman he'll forever be, and he's one of the best; he can be overlooked by as many people as possible, but he's been in my own personal Hall of Fame for over forty years; and in my house, that means a lot........... Peace to you Mick, God Bless

I met Jack Bruce whilst playing support for him and told him how good I felt that band with Mick Tayor and Billy Cobham was - one of the best things I'd heard on the Old Grey Whistle Test.

Mick Taylor is one of the finest blues players ever to put his hands on a guitar. He really is in his own musical zip code.

A blues guitar master. One of the most underrated ever. The Stones didn't know what they had.

@@michaelbravard8081 I agree. He and Richards were not happy when Mick T told them he was outta there. I think his exit was pretty quick, if I remember correctly. In all honesty between the drugs and BS, he did the right thing or he may have ended up a member in the 27 club if he made it that far.

Love MT and JH. I love his era with the Stones. I really love most Stones stuff, but I especially love the years that he played with them. He is a true artist and Rolling Stone magazine's Number 37 of all-time guitar players in 2012. Jimi was #1 in that issue.

As a young lad in the US Air Force, I was fortunate enough to see the Hyde Park concert in July of '69. I was a Brian Jones fan, but I knew Mick Taylor would go on to be great with the Stones .

Mister Taylor was, in 1969, too young to drink alcohol and the Bluesbreakers were following Mister Albert King onstage at the Pasadena Rose Palace. The Breaker's broke into the mad swing of Parchman Farm. Mick stopped time for a nine-minute-solo. Deep Purple, of course, opened the show.

Yep! Agree with all the people who think Mick is Great.Just a Brilliant Guitarist. Never was a Hendrix fan.Just a Showman imho. My mate used to play the guitar with his teeth In the early sixties.Long before we had ever heard of Hendrix. Yes my mate was a wasted talent. But marriage can do that to you. Mick Taylor, to me was equal to Eric Clapton. And believe me Eric is my Guitar Hero.

Don Lunn I'm not sure that mick isn't actually better than Clapton. Similar styles IMO. But at times I think mick is actually better, in that a series of notes can be more intricate. And mick IMO has blues style nailed 100%. Clap maybe 95%. Just my 2 cents. All mick taylor fans are my brothers. You dudes "get it".
