Mick Tucker should be remembered with all of the greats. He was such an amazing talent. Perfect drummer, amazing voice and brilliant performer. Some people just have it all. I just wish his name was mentioned more.......
I met Mick tucker at a back stage invite in 1980. Super nice guy and one of the best drummers in rock history. Long live the memory of the legend, Mick Tucker.
He certainly was a marvellous and gifted drummer. It' unbelievable how he hasn't been recognised by the so called experts for the undeniable top class talented drummer he was. It begs the question ....Just how knowledgeable are those so called experts.
I hear you! I was 6 or 7 yo when Mick first aroused my interest in drums/drumming, then when i was 11 or 12 i got into KISS in a big way and Peter Criss confirmed my drum love. I didn't even sit behind a drum kit until i was 17 yo, but at 54 yo (and counting!) i have spent the majority of my life 'blaming' both Mick and Peter for turning me on to all things drums. Lol! I wouldn't have it any other way! Thank you for rockin' my world Guys, and RIP Mick... \m/
What better influence can a drummer have? Playing intricate, powerful fills with one hand whilst twirling drumstick with the other. A brilliant drummer, singer and showman. Irreplaceable talent
Tragic that Mick Tucker, one of the finest drummers Britain ever produced, died of leukaemia 3 years after this TV show aired, on 14th February 2002 aged just 54
Mick tucker was one of the best, if not the best drummer that ever came out of england..Because he was in sweet he was uderrated, but if you watch his style, and his drumming expertise, without a doubt, he was totally amazing on his own merits..Andy was an incredible guitarist, and Brian had a voice that matched his looks...It was just the music material that was great at times, and questionable at others..
Mick was ill at this point with leukeamia I thin he had had bone marrow transplant and it's so sad that it came back.... a very nice person and like you say with an air of class..I wish there were more interviews around with The Sweet
Mick was such a gentleman in person. He always talked with class and distinction. I was got the impression that it would take a lot for Mick to swear or curse. You could tell, he had a fine class about him.
Mick Tucker was such an amazing drummer. If you watch him in action, he was without a doubt, one of the greatest drummers that England produced. Many "PoP" bands and one hit wonders that musicians that were incredibly talented. Les Davidson for example, was or is a guitarist for Sniff'n The Tears, if you watch him play, he was incredible.
Great comment. I'm sure if we'd have had the internet back in the 70s, all these great bands would have had 100s of millions of hits on RU-vid instead of the Bieber's of this sad age.
Mick has been my favorite drummer since discovering the Sweet as a young teenager of 15 or 16.... The more I heard him the more I realized how special and one of a kind he really was. Made me really happy to see him getting a lot of recognition on this thread. One of the best rock drummers from the 70s bar none! RIP MTC
I'm a fan of all these rockers. It's great that after all these years sweet are getting the respect they so richly deserve.I saw them way back when I was 13.Mick made his mark with the iconic ball room blitz drum riff.Btw Roy Wood is to Jeff Lynne what Sid Barite was to Roger Waters..
its funny as im reading all these great and well deserved comments i cant help but notice on my right hand side theres a video of americas got talent and it has over 54 milions hits ,, ive no doubt in my mind that america does indeed have talent ,, but they will neve have what we had , the greatest bands of the seventies ,, the sweet , mud , slade , wizard . mott the hoople , t-rex ,,, and as a 52 y/o i was lucky enough to grow up with it all .. 54 million people prefer shit tho .
They were all great bands and all fantastic muisicans back then I doubt we will see the likes of again with todays manufactured music by Mr Cowell who is just looking for the next cash cow. Lets not forget that back then some of these bands were part of what i suppose was the 70's equivilent of Simon Cowell which was the writing team of Mike Chapman & Nicky Chin who wrote for most of these acts. It was a great formula and it worked well for them, especially with such a talented band as the Sweet.
These four guys still look good in this recording. Suzi appears not really older. Very sad that Mick Tucker and Les Gray died much too early. I miss both!
Leukemia had begun to ravage his body and his good looks, but he still carried himself like the legend he is. God bless you and RIP, beautiful, talented Mick Tucker. You will never be forgotten by true Sweet fans.
@@lawyergirlinct16 Amen, Mick Tucker really was a class act. Tragic to see damn cancer at work here - it ended his life 3 years later, aged just 54. It strikes me Mick and Brian Connolly were the sensitive beating hearts of The Sweet, who had a touch of indefinable magic about them. And both were taken far too young.
@@glamdolly30 Indefinable magic is the perfect way to describe Mick and Brian...two beautiful souls who left us under tragic circumstances. I'm so thankful for the videos and music they left as their legacy. Their physical presence is gone, but their spirit is immortal.
@@lawyergirlinct16 Spot on - their music and the charisma of their performances will be rediscovered and enjoyed by new generations as long as humans walk the Earth. In a very real and profound sense, they have both achieved immortality. Lovely chatting with a fellow music lover! God bless. XXX
I've always admired Sweet and agree with your comment, however I would question your "questionable" statement. What specifically do you find "questionable"?
