My end of the anniversary day phone call after forgetting the card: "Happy anniversary love, hope you had a great sleep! ........ I know, had to leave early for work, very busy day, didn't want to wake you ....... Card? What card? ....... Oh, you put it over the fireplace, no I didn't go into the room, I was straight out the front door for work, so much to do and really want to be home early so we can celebrate together ....... Brother man I feel your pain on the holidays, I was a chef for 20 years. Can’t enjoy a holiday when your a chef either. Well Christmas you may have a wee shot of whiskey or 3 to get you in the spirit 😉 but generally it was a huge pain in the butt 🤣

Imho it's not what you buy it's what you do. Most of these so called special occasions are just marketed ways of taking your money. I've been with the same person for 24 yrs we have never had an anniversary yet as we didn't get together on a precise day, or week. I don't know about anybody else but i want to be surprised by gestures of affection in small ways all year round. It costs nothing to make me breakfast in bed on mothers day. I would far rather that than a box of chocolates, teddy bear and naffing balloon. I do love a card on mothers day though lol.

I agree, I think it is important to do nice things for our partners often, not just on a holiday. It doesn't mean anything to me to get an expensive gift on a holiday.

I once bought my wife an anniversary card that said happy anniversary to my husband by mistake at a newsagent before work. The lads at work didn't notice nor the shopkeeper. I didn't know until my wife asked if I'd read the card before I gave it to her. 😔

This is a hilarious sketch, and so true! My ex wanted to send thank you cards for all sorts of things, and also wanted to send New Year's cards (I know). I refused. Saying something in person and meaning it is far better than a card. Did frontline retail for eight and a half years, so I feel that pain. Worked weekends and bank holidays at a small company, so time off in the summer was almost impossible. It sucks. So glad I got out of it, as it was really getting to me in the end, and I hated it.

I can't stand cards. You'd be as well throwing money in the trash. That's where most cards go after being displayed for a day or two. People spend a fortune on bouquet's; after a few days they're dead 😄 The bouquet's that is 😆 You'd be as well putting a bow around £100 then binning it after 2 days 😄
