I went to his b'day 03. My best friends step sister was married to him. At the time I didnt know much. But it was a somber mood, right after the last Gotti fight. I played college baseball and could tell this guy was an animal. Wards knock was like a pitbull. But he was retiring at the time. Well on the fence. I became an addict. I live 15 mins from lowel up in new Hampshire. The real movies the documentary. But I was dropped out of a car on that city coming back from picking up fetynal. People pushed me outa the car. I woke up no clue where I was. Looked around and I'm in fucking lowell. Cops and ambulance showed up. The people who dumped me atleast called 911 lol. I'm sober now. Lost too much.

@Richard Lopez the trilogy alone should have put him in the HOF without a doubt. One and three both won fight of the year. Also round 9 in the first fight is probably in the top 3 of best rounds ever in the whole of the sport. How you can say he does not belong there is actually laughable and shows your lack of knowledge for the sport. The hall of fame is for those fighters that make the sport what it is a beautiful art that is also full of energy and excitement. And if you don’t believe ward was that maybe go and watch something else like cross country running.

Never in my entire boxing history ever saw 2 warriors ripping each other apart like this in a most horrifying manner but at the end their blood shed was to bond 2 men from different cultures and became true brothers. This is an unbelievable true story that deserves to be preserved for centuries and deserves even a movie at some stage in decades to come. Very touching part of the words Ward said in funeral "I got you last". Of course he didn’t listen to me. For Arturo, 1 world title was enough. He had proved what he needed to prove, to himself and anyone who doubted him, and a few years later he retired. When I saw him next at the boardwalk, me as trainer and him in real estate, he was cheering ,with a beer in his hand, still living each day like his last. When I heard he died by suicide, I was sad. People always think of us as rivals, but he was one of the very few I liked, and even fewer that I respected. He remains the only fighter I envied. -Micky ward

I am a boxing fan for over 50 years. These two men created one of the greatest fight trilogies ever. I too don’t think, knowing Arturo’s personality, he would’ve taken his own life. Much has been said of how he may of died and a tv investigative programme was made. I have read a lot about it too. I simply don’t know. Without having all the facts it’s difficult to blame who so many people believe to have murdered him. But the respect Micky Ward has shown toward him would indicate he too has looked hard into Arturo’s death and has concluded he also doesn’t believe it was suicide. God bless the spirit of Arturo and perhaps, just perhaps the truth may come out one day what happened in his family house on the fateful day.

To all these fighters who duck each other and make excuses not to fight.Watch Arturo and Mickey fight and learn what putting it all on the line means. You should be ashamed afterwards when you see what these great warrior's went through and what they gave to boxing.

I will always believe his wife had it done. She threatens to take their kid and run away to her native country Brazil if Gatti doesn’t change his will. He has his will amended to her as the beneficiary then two weeks later in Brazil he kills himself. On the day of his sisters wedding. His wife was arrested for homicide at first then an autopsy, in her own country, exonerated her? Seems more like Brazilian authorities just held her until she paid them off. Such a tragic end for a legend.

had no idea. I too struggle with depression and suicidal thoughts. I had no connection the the man but this really hurts-me.
