What a great film the Fighter was. I’m not gonna lie as a little kid in the 90s I hardly knew Ward. However watching these fights back what a fighter he was and how legendary these moments were. Take a bow.

A touch to the head to make sure the gloves stay high, and a simple dig to the body. It was not a kidney shot; it’s the part of the liver that’s not covered by ribs.

I still don’t get why they didn’t put these two fighters and others in fight night champion, but they put created fighters from the story mode in it to play online.

He was supposed to fight Julio Chavez but Chavez pulled out because of an injury or something. I really think ward would give Chavez a hard fight because Chavez like getting close and going toe to toe and ward has a great chin and I don't see Chavez breaking ward down and finishing him like he's done to so many other's. I really think ward would surprise so many people because of thier styles. Ward would let his hands go if Chavez kept hitting him so he doesn't get stopped because ward nows how to fight when he thinks the ref might stop it .I really think Chavez would be in for a surprise.

Boxing, just like everything else, was head over heels better in the 90s and early 2000s. Everything sucks now in America, everything. I don’t understand. Those gatti ward fights were epic as epic gets.

my dad covered used to cover the Atlantic Ciy action for the NY Daily News from 1985-1991. I seen every fight in AC. Ringside passes and seats every time. I got fighting lessons from so many fighters I met as a kid. Tyson used to give me advice for handling bullies. I mean one on one techniques to really make it hurt. I had this one kids in middle school,. Josh always tease me and I took it and the kids and girls would always laugh at me at recess. I was a s cared 12 year old. Right around the time Mike beat Carl Truth Williams Mike showed me how to punch and turn my fist at impact and put my shoulder in to it . one recess josh was giving me the business. I had a cast on my hand from an ice hockey accident. josh was teasing me and pushing me around at recess.i had enough. I threw one punch at josh with the cast on my hand and did everything Tyson showed me and I fucked this kid up with one gnarly punch, broken nose, blood everywhere, kicked off 7th grade field trip and I was upset about the trip, but I remember that day well, nobody ever fucekd w me again

So odd. Sanchez was like waiting for it. Unusual. Most of the fight he didn't show a tendency to wait for shots in the inside like that or in the clinch.

Why does the back of the jerseys worn by Ward's corner have his name spelled Mickey Ward when history says his name is spelled Micky Ward? I've checked a couple of his other fights and he also wore his trunks that spelled his name Mickey. This is very baffling to me because I was always a Ward fan back in the day and I remember his name was always Mickey Ward.🤯🤯🤯

Remember watching this fight and got us by surprise that kidney shot we were laughing as fuck when Mickey got nock down several times and then out no were we were so quiet it couldn't believe Sanchez got nock out only one lucky punch and that was the end of the fight respect that and I'm a Mexican who respects when the other fighter was better than one I was going for
