Thanks so much for the love gents!! I absolutely loved working on that Cupronickel Superconductor Zenith with you George. I might need to borrow it again soon. Ha ha. Thanks Effers 🥃
Absolutely smashed the first season out the park lads, the passion, knowledge and chemistry massively outweigh any slight production/learning curve issues, already looking forward to season 2. Also that blok watch is absolute genius, such a simplistic twist on bezel use.
What George (and the maker of Blok) probably didn't even consider is that the Blok watch is perfect for people who suffer from ADHD. Visual time tracking is one of the most important tools and a watch like that can make a massive different when trying to retain focus or splitting tasks into smaller pieces!
Excellent series Gents. This session was one of my favorites. It’s mostly nice when you all don’t talk over one another. Love the sincerity. Looking forward to next season. 🥂
@@AboutEffingTime Good, because once you fix that, you’ve pretty much created the very best watch podcast I’ve ever heard. You make every show feel like the best watch meet up I’ve ever attended.
You know what I love about this podcast, it really feels like you're there with your watch nerd mates just talking about watches, no holds barred, man I am SO pumped for S2, keep it up guys, hope you're all having a good inter-season rest. Cheers from Bogota
Zelos are up there for me. To build up the brand caché they have in such a short space of time is impressive. They don't rip anyones designs off. They have created hype, a cult following and have kept their product affordable and largely attainable. Their products even retain their value on the used market. They've done a great job.
@@marcusflack1523 Yeah they are great value, especially if you get in on the early bird pricing for new models. Most sell out fairly quick. Really great company.
Really f’ing enjoy season 1, icing on the cake was Andrew mentioning Serica. One of my favourite watches and you were spot on with why people chose it.
Love that George dabbles in watches with different materials/metals. Love your unique Zenith. Glad you fessed up about field watches being BORING… even if Adrian and Andrew disagree. Keep up the good work!
Hot take- this is easily your best episode yet! I learnt a ton about some really cool watches which I intend on seriously looking into and also really enjoyed genuine insight behind the undone problem.
Exactly as Adrian said; I didn’t quite get Blok at first glance, but now that George has explained the concept and the function behind the design, I now think it’s genius! LOVE IT 👏🏻
Micro brands that do not bring something unique and just do homages are worthless money grabs to me. Independents and micro brands like Ocean Crawler- the gshock of the automatic world and Christopher Ward- with some of the best bronze watches period, got me into watches. These unique additions to the industry and not homages are what caught my eye and pushed me into the watch world. Lots of Love from me for the micros and independents! Keep bringing passion and uniqueness to the market! Hell of a first season! Very excited for season 2!
Gents, I’ve really enjoyed this first series, bravo! Calling a turd a (f*cking) turd, regardless of price, and championing indies I’d yet to discover, all while chatting like mates in the pub. Cheers!
I have been loving watches for around 2 years now and painstakingly waiting to buy my first luxury watch. My budget meant that Omega, Tudor, Breitling etc were in my sights but I couldn’t decide because none of them gave me that connection. Then I found Baltic and fell in love. The story, the style, the versatility, I couldn’t recommend them highly enough. To hear them get love from you effers previously made me happy. Looking forward to season 2!
Can I just say gents you’ve nailed it with this one for me. Frankly, I’m tired of the same Rolex and AP themed videos that keep flooding my feeds. The topic, discussion and above all the brands you highlighted have truly helped to further my watch knowledge and potentially also persuaded me to seriously consider purchasing a few of the brands you highlighted. Very well done to all of you! And George your focus on children’s brand has somewhat made me reevaluate your entire positioning in my head 😉
Freaking great feedback Asad. I also when I was shooting these episodes can totally relate to your sentiments. I pulled the trigger on the desert sky studio underdog for example after seeing them discuss the watch. More of these episodes could be dangerous for the wallet.
Loved the episode, the candor, and the chemistry you all are developing. Blok is super fun, continuing to highlight brands that are thinking about ‘time’ in a unique way would be really cool. Excited for Season 2 and would be intrigued to hear some thoughts on F.P. Journe! PS - thanks @adrian for introducing me to these other two legends. PPS - bring your own watches next time 😂
Great series gents. Love the passion and the realistic views on all brands. Not everything is what it seems. My Monday morning coffee is better with A.E.T. See you in Series 2 ✌️🇦🇺
Some people just miss the micro brand point, the love of watches isn’t always just about movement, the history or indeed the the value, it’s how they make you feel, micro’s often give you something the big names just miss, done see or are too brand protective to try
Re: Weiss… very happy to see him get a good look from you gents. We’ve had him in our pod and he’s an amazing guest and an all around good dude. All that’s to say nothing of his very legit watchmaking chops, having been with 2/3 of the Trinity.
Out the park lads as always. Feels like a season of Top Gear just finished. At least it’s only a 1 1/2 month break. Keep spreading the word. This is what the watch community needed. Gold dust.
This is my favorite podcast. You guys are great. One small suggestion for season 2...one of the skulls on your logo needs a space between it's front teeth.
Honest to God, Undone has flooded my social media too! Anyway, great super episode!! Blok is a gem and love the concept! On a more traditional stances I like Farer too, I can vaguely relate them to Underdog on how they play with colour and dials, but of course are way more traditional than Underdog. THAT ZENITH IS BLOWING MY MIND
This was again a very relaxing video. I love your insights, your comments and I even learned about two new watchbrands today. I can’t wait for season 2 to launch! To be continued, t’is a consumation devoutly to be wished … 😊 As for microbrands, one of my favourites is Baltic, they just nailed it with their design. But another I stumbled upon is Forzo. They focus on racing history and their watches are very well designed and high quality built, especially for the price range. They should perhaps look at their movement but otherwise brilliantly done. Thank you guys. Hope you have fun filming season 2! 😎
Man, that was quite a ride! But i loved it, love your comments on each other's opinion (especially GB 😁) and i learned a lot about my effing watches, too. All in all: great show, can't wait for season two!
Wasn’t sure when I watched the first of these but really enjoyed this one, toned it down a bit which with such big personalities you needed to do. Keep it up gents. 👍
Congratulations guys, absolutely superb, can’t wait for the second season. All 4 of you bring something special to the show. I think you’ve outdone yourselves and undone those prats who flogged Adrian’s review. My favourite was the Weiss watch. Really liked that. My favourite micro brand is probably Farer. Really like their designs and own a Lander IV gorgeous green/blue sunburst dial. Os I’ve also ordered that bloody Shiraz!
Amazing season mates!! It was so informative and fun too see and hear 3 cool dudes taking about watches and the stories behind it, as well as introducing us to more greatness for the BYOI segment. Can not wait for season 2 to go live. Cheers, and take care you all!!
That Handmade 1 is unbelievable. Microbrands are cool I have a few, some have been stellar some not so much but its a fun way to collect interesting watches, that's for sure. Oh BTW this podcast has been a lot of fun, you guys have great chemistry, keep it up!
Just saw this video and was looking at the Weiss, on your tablet 2 months ago they were $1450, today they are $2000 on their web. Wow that’s a 34% increase.
Oh man, that approach to hours on the Blok! I struggled with the "hour chunk" concept so much as a little kid trying to learn how to tell time. Probably still do, honestly. Very very cool.
G'day Guys, Love your subjects & content. I am a bit of a fan of Microbrands & own several. I particularly love my 38mm white dial Weiss. I bought this one in 2020 when they were still US$1150 & still in California. Add the Aussie import & its actually US$1300. Almost 3 years later & my timegrapher shows a beat error of 0, a beat rate of 0,0,0,+1,0,0,-1,0,0 & amplitude of 302! This shows the highest quality of care & production & Cameron Weiss deserves all accolades for his knowledge & expertise. What you weren't up to date with Adrian was the current price. They are now US$2200!
Keep it going guys, thsi actually makes my week watching these! So good, making us aware of some brands i've never even seen or heard of, love your work, and see you soon!
You should also read the comments in each episode. I have discovered many brands through peoples comments that I was never aware of myself. This is a wealth of info in the watch world.
Hats off to you four. 👏 Amazing first series, already can’t wait for the second! Opened my eyes to a lot of new stuff during these podcasts. Big love from Yorkshire! Ps: George, that Bamford X Zenith is absolutely gorgeous! (possibly my favourite Bamford watch along with the RUF Carrera). Shame that never made it to production. 👌
It is absolutely so difficult to hold an honest session as much as they could both in a positive n negative way. Yet managing they are managing it so well, naturally and professionally. Love them!
Keep up the great work. I've thoroughly enjoyed the camaderie between the 3 of you, as well as the amazing knowledge you all have. Really looking forward to Season 2.
Shout out to GB 👑, my wife just got back from London where she picked up the Mayfair I got made up at BWD. Looks amazing, got it in our company colours and the moral to this story? That action came from quickly becoming a fanboy of AET. Another awesome ep, bring on S2!
Great show and selection of brands. I was done with Undone when I saw somebody post the watch they had received and the clasp on the strap was so messed up it couldn't even function. It was one of the worst QC issues I'd ever seen. How that could have even made it onto the watch is beyond me. If they're messing that up, what else is crap? The 2 broken watches mentioned doesn't surprise me in the least, and that they ripped Adrian off is anger inducing. On top of that, they have supremely annoying RU-vid ads that I was seeing often for a while. I had never heard of Blok, but now I'm giving them a serious look. I wonder if my daughter would actually wear one. She wore her NASA Flik Flak (she chose) briefly, but hasn't touched it in a long time. I need to figure out why she's not wearing it first before I get her another watch.
Really want to know what you guys think of Christopher Ward hope it is covered on BYOI at some point. Loved the Blok watches been looking for a good kids watch for a while and they look great. Another great video guys always a nice way to cap off the weekend.
This is probably the only podcast that I re-visit as I realize every episode it’s even better seen than heard. AET will be queued up on the TV rather than the phone for S2.
Love the show, just subscribed, and can’t wait for the next season. I thought Undone had a pretty neat hook when they started, but something made me hesitate. You guys revealed the “something” - thanks. I like the Islanders from Marc Frankel at Long Island Watch. Marc was an online dealer for years and when Seiko discontinued the SKX, he had to fill that vacuum and started his own brand. Initial models were all very SKX-looking divers but with better quality, crystals, movements and bracelets than the SKX. Since then, his line has expanded to include dress watches, field & pilot watches, design collaborations, a Swiss movement GMT, and models inspired by Long Island landmarks. Best thing about them though is the high level of customer service and honesty - breath of fresh air.
I have a Weiss 38mm Field Watch (manual wind) and I love it. The podcast (on youtube) is called Watch and Listen, and listening to Cameron talk about watches is what made me get into horology, and also purchase one of his watches. So glad Weiss Watch Company was brought up here!
Thank you so much for the planet Greubel Forsey love on this episode. Can’t wait for Season 2. You guys are awesome and make watch content sooooo exciting❤❤
@@AboutEffingTime I have listened to and enjoyed every episode and every therapy session - I must get out more ! No, seriously you guys are fantastic, so much fun and the dynamic between you is addictive ! Bring on series 2 ASAP ! Xx
Some of my personal favorites are Baltic , Zelos and Christopher Ward. All three have very solid build quality, unique designs and great customer service. Furlan Marri is also one I'm keeping my eye on , very cool stuff coming from them.
Well done guys! I really enjoyed season one and so happy to hear your going to be doing season two. I’d love to hear more about Grand Seiko on the show. It seemed last time you brought it up that no one had much exposure to them. Let’s change that before the next season gets recorded!
This was a particularly good episode. When you all get concise, the show gets tighter and more interesting. The "one-word answer" format is brilliant. Consider doing a shotgun round of three questions. As for the substance, Andrew's Serica pick is excellent and he made a good case for the watch. The commentary on Undone was a bit jarring. I did not know of all the problems. My general impressions were (a) it was founded by Michael Young, who has a killer reputation for fixing vintage Rolex bracelets and (b) while there was a lot of questionable character-driven design, there were some compelling offerings like the Simple Union collaboration with urushi and sometsuke dials. It sounds like Undone has some work to do to (re?)build its reputation.
I listened to the whole thing but did I miss you talking about Baltic? I saw it in the thumbnail and see it in the description but was it one of the three liked or hated? Cuz i dont think I noticed lol.
Guys, no love for Baltic this time? Anyway, great season’s finale. I’m glad you shared those stories about Undone, cause now I’m done with them 😂. What a dad joke. See you in the next season!
Just all the effing hats off to you, gents. 👏🏼 Already loved you guys individually, and now together. My microbrand done with the highest level of quality, class, and customer service would be MONTA.
Maybe a topic for season 2, how do you guys feel about servicing? I mean if you have a large collection at some point you’re going to spend a lot of money on servicing and maintaining the watches. No matter the brand. Some movements are easier to service then others (for example ETA and Sellita movements versus Co-Axial movements. Or chronographs vs normal but chronometer movement etc)
Guys, please continue to show more photos when you're describing timepieces. I learn a lot from you. Surely I'm not the only viewer who benefits from your extensive collective knowledge. However, It is a labor of curiosity and the desire to know more by having to look up every watch that you're discussing. Much appreciation to all!
Dangit now I want to burn my undone watch down, sucks I paid $400 for it. Even before this video I was out of love with it, it looks and feels cheap like a toy, I wish I bought an Orient to begin with which I ended up buying for less than half the price of Undone
👏🏼👍🏼😎🇦🇺 Fantastic series guys! On my wrist right now is the Nivada Grenchen Super Antarctic ‘57!🤤 Yes I fell into the Undone web & was quite I impressed! After hearing your stories, well…🤬 As for micro brands of which I have quite a few, my pick is the Direnzo. My DRZ 03 is amazing in finish, detail & aesthetics! Sergio was fantastic to deal with & was responsive to questions I asked at that time! Thanks gents & can’t wait for season 2!
The revived Nivada Grenchen and Finnish SUF are my choices for micros. Have a Chonomaster Aviator Sea Diver and grey 180, respectively. Highly recommend. Cheers from Montana. 🇬🇧🇦🇺🇨🇭🇫🇮🥃
Awesome guy's for me "Lorier" Rocks,I like the design very much vintage Inspired ...great content as always 👍👍.keep it up... greetings from st George Utah until next time....
