Very nice. I had the DQX-1000 with a SME 3s tonearm. Exchanged the SME 3s it for Origin Live Conqueror tonearm.

I love Micro SEiki and I´ve just discovered the SME 3009 series III. What a piece of art!!! And very versatile. USing it with an extra SME headshell weight and serious damping with my Decca Blue . Very good sound. Different in comparison with the Schick 12¨ tonearm that I have been using before with the Decca Blue but I cant tell if it is better or worse ...just a bit different.

Very nice turntable and setup. I am biased because I own the same. But you should know that the SME IIIS is a VERY poor match for the Denon DL-103R. The SME is has a very light effective mass (5 g) and the Denon has a very low compliance (5 x 10-6 cm/Dyne) and the pair will have a resonance of 19 Hz, way too high, very close to extra low bass. The SME would mate much better with high compliance cartridges like AKG's, ADC's, Shure V15 VMR. Or if you like the Denon sound, pair it with a heavy arm like Fidelity Research FR-64.

with the SME III not the S version the Denon 103 not the R sounds fantastic. I compare it with SME 3012R with Denon 103, same result. tested with clearaudio disco test

I agree with Serge. The DL 103 doesn't fit for the SME III, tried this long ago. Have a DDX 1000 as well. Seiki MA-505 III with Orsonic shell and Benz Micro Glider SL = absolute killer ! The SME III S with the AT OC 9 III mounted on the second base : outstanding but not as good as the Benz

People can do what they want...but my research leads that arm to be a PERFECT match for the Shure V15 or Shure 97xe cartridges (drop a Jico SAS Neo stylus on either one on that arm and get a NOS Shure N78s stylus if you run shallac on the same table)

VERY NICE! I just love how it looks so "mechanical". What are you powering the speakers with? Tube or solid state?? I just love vinyl and everything about it. :)

Hello! Thank for posting such a nice overview of your setup. I was looking over internet for an example of SME III setup, because I have some concerns about how to setup mine SME III. My concern is that the manual tells me to adjust the bias control so it corresponds to the tracking forse in grams. In my case this leads to the fact that the shell goes down-right when I slide the microlift control down. I was able to get rid of this only when I adjusted the bias control down to zero. I saw the same at your setup. Now I'm wondering if there is a mistake in the manual or we've adjusted our tonearms in a wrong way... Do you have any thoughts on that?

May I reply to your question? The manuals anti-skating (bias control) setup is the easiest way but in practice not the best way. Most of cartridge dont need an antiskating control that strong. The best way so far for me is what the manufacturer of a famous Danish brand told me in person and is also explaining in his manual : put your tonearm with the stylus of your cartridge at the end of the recording between the grooves, i.e. On the black vinyl. The Bias Control should be set so that on that blank vinyl the tonearm is moving to the center slower than if the stylus woudl be in the groove. If the tonearm is not moving either inwards nor outwards but certainly if the tonearm is moving outwards, the chosen antiskating force is too strong, Hope this helps

Hey Pegasus, my friend found one of these in a stash of gear from a deceased friend, the Wife knows nothing about it and is going to sell it for $500. Any idea what its worth? Want to do right by the Widow. Any help appreciated! Have pic but dont know how to add. Has control box and S tonearm Thanks

Sorry. I am late to read your comment. You can find out the exact price by searching on ebay or Google search. Exactly what is the model name and tonearm? If there is a cartridge, the price of the cartridge varies greatly. Please do a search to find out the price. There is no exact price for vintage devices. $500 is a ridiculous price. The Micro Seiki DDX-1000 is a rare Item and not easy to find. So it will be quite expensive.
