Urine microalbumin test is done to measure the protein level in urine. This test is done to check the possibility of any disease or illness in the kidney. This test is also done in those people who are at risk of kidney disease.
Healthy kidneys work to filter bad substances from our blood and stop the healthy components like proteins like albumin. When the kidney is damaged, these proteins can leak in your kidney. Due to which the essential elements of the body come out through urine. Albumin is one of the proteins that leak first in case of kidney damage.
Microalbumin test is recommended for those people who are more likely to have kidney diseases like type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes or high blood pressure.
This test is done to check the amount of albumin in your urine. This test detects whether many diabetes has damaged your kidney or not. Albumin is a type of protein. It is essential for the growth and healing of tissues in our body. Sometimes it leaks into our urine, due to which the kidneys are not able to work as well as they should. Such small amounts of albumin are not detected in our daily urine test, so doctors measure the changes in the level of albumin with the help of this test. In this way, doctors check diabetes and other types of diseases in our body. If any kind of kidney disease is detected in the beginning, then it can be treated easily. In America, diabetes is one of the main reasons for kidney damage. If kidney damage is detected in the early stages, then it can be easily cured instead of becoming complicated. Diabetes patients between the ages of 12 and 70 should get microalbumin test done at least once a year. Type 1 patients should start getting this test done after 5 years of diabetes. Type 2 patients should get this test done every year after the treatment is completed. If you have high blood pressure, talk to your doctor about when you should get tested.
When is urine microalbumin test done:-
The doctor may recommend urine microalbumin test to know your kidney related diseases and problems. Kidney related diseases can be prevented with proper treatment. You may need to get microalbumin test done in the following situations: First type diabetes: If you have type 1 diabetes, then your doctor may advise you to get microalbumin test done. The doctor may advise you to get this test done once a year for five years after the diagnosis of the disease. Second type diabetes: If you have type 2 diabetes, then your doctor may advise you to get microalbumin test done. The doctor may advise you to get this test done once a year immediately after the diagnosis of the disease. High blood pressure: If you have high blood pressure, your doctor may want you to have regular microalbumin tests. Talk to your doctor about how often you need to be tested. If your urinary microalbumin levels are high, your doctor may recommend that you get treatment and get more frequent tests.
