How can I fm a saw tooth into another saw tooth? Then set delay to non tempo and make it really tight?

you can change the tuning reference quite easily without figuring out the cents to hertz difference. There is a master tune section where you can change A440 to what ever tuning reference you want. Great video though mate, thank you

I see that you select shift 3 to seemingly go to a "basic" patch first. Would it make any sense to just start with a preset bass sound, and then change the parameters from there?

I have this micro korg too and still new to a lot of music production. How do I go about hooking this up to my laptop and use/record on ableton?

you need an audio interface. It's pretty straight forwards from there, Line out into audio interface, interface into computer via USB 2.0 most likely

Nice patch. I do have to ask though where are you saving these patches? I am torn on what to override. Any suggestions? Right now I'm just using the "Noise" bank.

+Sabina Covarrubias Composer Good question. I don't have my microkorg at hand right now but I think you can just by setting VOICE knob 1 to VCD, only thing is layered patches become single patches

Question, is each timbre an oscillator?

Think of a timbre like a layer of sound on the microkorg. Each timbre has 2 oscs and the rest of synth engine. When your patch only uses one timbre you have 4 note polyphony, when your patch uses both timbres then polyphony is halved because the microkorg is now playing both sound engines, layers, timbres whatever you want to call them

Not quite. While it behaves very closely to analog synth (it has the same oscillator - filter - amp structure) it is actually a digital emulation of one.

You still need an audio interface because audio comes out in analog form through regular audio jacks. It converts its digital sound back to analog form for output purposes. The Microkorg doesn't have a built in USB audio interface like more recent synths from Roland or Novation to pipe audio directly into your DAW. However if your computer has an audio in jack you can connect the microkorg using cable adapter. The microkorg outputs using a 1/4"in jack and most computers have 1/8"in jacks.
