You can record vocoder settings into a preset but not sound samples. Good luck!

How to record a song with the vocoder?

I'm looking at getting one of these, but I want to make sure this will do what I want first. I want to be able to run a line in (a drum machine) and process it with the vocoder instead of my voice. Will the Microkorg be able to do that? Additionally, can I use the arpeggiator with the vocoder?

I don’t have the Microkorg anymore. Off the top of my head, yes the input can take mono line in which would be good for a drum machine to go in. As for the Arp with vocoder yes it should work I think when you use the internal sound. Again I don’t have it any more but this is from memory

lovin all these cool sounds but i cant record any of them!!! i have my microkorg setup with logic pro x but when i press record it doesnt let me record anything! do you know why this might be happening to me?

+Raymond Flores do you use a USB audio interface or is your microkorg connected directly to the sound card (i.e. microphone plug)?

Hey thanks for the response, I'm using an interface, I figured out how to record now, I chose software instrument instead of audio in logic, but now I can't quantize any notes because it's just audio being transferred. I wanna be able to open up my notes in the piano roll and move them around you know! do u happen to know how to do this?

Raymond Flores No prob. I apologize, but I am not familiar with Logic. I am a Reason guy. But if I am stating correctly, quantizing notes would only applicable when using software plugins. As far as audio is concerned, you just record what you are playing. Does that make any sense? Am I understanding you correctly?

+R.E.D. Yeah I gotcha, the only thing is when I choose software instrument and choose in external instrument from there it doesn't allow me to record anything. I hear my microkorg but logic doesn't let me to record. Audio seems to be the only one that lets me record but it sucks cause it doesn't allow me to move the notes where I want them, you know, in case I miss a note while playing

Raymond Flores Hmmm. Best to find a Logic forum if you cannot figure out why it would not record. You will never move a note in audio because it is all in wavelengths as oppose to data (MIDI inputs). Now, when it comes to audio recording, there is a way to avoid missed notes in your track (besides practice). I'll send you a PM if you are interested, the technique might be cumbersome to you, but it is just a suggestion.

Does anyone know if it is possible to replicate Bon Iver's 715 - Creeks on a microkorg? I would love to get my hands on that patch.

Kinda.Bon Iver uses a lot of effects involved. But, the basic idea starts with Splitting your audio signal. Snag a split XLR cable. Have the main source going to the FOH, Secondary source going into the MK. Roll off the top end (around 1k, I believe) You will need a good dash of reverb on the vocoder signal Then, you will need an octave pedal and a chorus pedal on the vocoded signal. Justin V has some software that switches between multiple octave and single octaves, but a simple octave pedal would be fine for a smaller scale. start with Octave and add Chorus for punch and shimmer :) OR you could also get there with software (Mainstage comes standard with Macs) imgur.com/a/rt9Xe I like the hardware version that I shared above, those.

Hi Jacques I'm happy owner of the microkorg and you have a great tutorials , thank you so much for that. If you could show us how to used MIDI option with software like Ableton, Logic, that would be great. I dont understand when I connecting my microkorg with MIDI -USB cable something like that www.amazon.co.uk/PicknBuy-keyboard-guitar-musical-equipments/dp/B005JNZUNK/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1415738367&sr=8-9&keywords=midi+usb+cable,in Logic X or Ableton, Garageband I can play but the knobs doesn't work, it would be great to have chance to use it with some filters. I don't see any different when in microkorg selector is on MIDI position or not, maybe I do something wrong with. I hope to see soon another great tutorial in this case. Thank you. Best Regards

Dariusz Lis I'll see what I can do. I know that with ableton I had issues when turning the 5th knob as it made Ableton crash when I tried using the knobs as controllers a long time.
