I let a girl In Hayward CA, name Kristin do my Sisterlock install- 🤦🏽♀️ she was awful to say the least and very unprofessional. I went to her for a couple of more months, but my gut told me to stop going to her. She did not know what she was doing. She did not do the Sisterlocs grid- she messed up my hair- and had the nerve to get upset because I stopped tipping her. In the meantime I was looking for a new sister Loctician ….and I actually reported her to Sisterlock foundation . I have a new lady now , in San Leandro California. She is amazing ! Some of these folks out here do not want to take care of your hair. They only want the money. And her attitude was definitely from the devil.. If you feel it in your gut, please do your research. Do not go to the first person you see! This is my second set of Sisterlocks. Soon I will be doing a channel myself regarding my Sisterlock journey. 😉 be safe out here folks when it comes to your hair!
Thanks for sharing. I agree to find a consultant that does not make you feel like you are asking too many questions. I had to find another one because the consultant I was considering told me to limit my questions until I know what date I wanted to book. I thought to myself this is a commitment that I am spending a lot of my money on and no one is going to tell me I am asking too many questions. I only texted her about two times that week and I even told her to respond when she had the time. That consultant information was deleted immediately. I refused to give my money away to someone like that.
I’m hearing screaming “That’s Right!!” like you can actually hear me 🤣🤣. I will always respect that as a consultant they may get overwhelmed, but the word is Customer Service, I’ve learned that it can build or break any business ❤️✨ Welcome to our Loc Family 😊
My experience with the extremely small Sisterlocks sizes is that waiting for a full inch of hair for a retightening can result in losing locks. For some of us the lock doesn’t connect to the new growth and requires a strict 4 week regime to intergrate the new growth in with the existing lock.

OMG…Thank You so much for sharing this information…this is a very new journey for me, I just recently had my Microlocs installed, and I’m really happy with them, but now I’m not sure if I choose the right loctition, prior to installing my locs she made me feel like I was really making the right decision with getting them, but now after asking some questions, now I’m not so sure if I made the right decision after that experience…This is a very BIG INVESTMENT for me, and for the long haul $$$ I need, and want to feel as comfortable as possible…Again “Thank You” for sharing your thoughts and your experience…

I recently changed my consultant because she did not want to answer my questions. I have microlocs. They were installed last November. This is my first set of locs. I do not know what to expect. So I was trying to ask her questions and she acted like I was bothering her. I get my retie with my new loctician in a few weeks. We'll see how it goes.

Very informative and to the point. I’m moving toward micro locks. I’m done with kids now and taking the next 5 months to rebuild my hair first while interviewing consultants
Thank you for touching on postpartum shedding. I cut my 4- year old locks partly because of how much hair I lost postpartum. I'm thinking of restarting soon and these are options.

Thanks so much for this video, I just had a consultation with a microlocs installer. I understand there's also minilocs. I noticed the ends of the locs aren't locd, they seem kinda loose and I wonder if this is same with sisterlocs.
Hiiiii I’m just confused. I started my sisterlocs Jounery three years ago. Six months in a cut it all off and this year I tried to start again. Unfortunately the person who did it told me it was microlocs but I realized the middle part was normal locs sizes. Soo painstakingly I took them off . Now I wanna start again but I donno if I should start with two strand twists (because that would save me money ) or interlock straight away ( which is more expensive). Also which has a softer feel: the two strand twists or the interlock? Help😩😩😩
Hiii😊. I’m sorry your loc journey has been such a “journey” 🤦🏽♀️. If you have the time and the patience to interloc from the beginning I would have to say that’s the best option. With interlocking you can wash your hair without it unraveling, and depending on how fast your hair grows, you only need to retighten it every 6-8 weeks (so less maintenance). I would only recommend two-strand twist to someone who either has high density/thick hair or very long hair, because people who fall in those categories of either thick hair or long hair don’t have to worry about their hair looking thin when it matures so if that applies to you, then the two strand twist can work. If neatness and a grid pattern is important you, I would recommend you take your time if you’re doing it yourself. If it takes you a week to finish your entire head or if it takes you two weeks that’s OK because that’s just the install and keep in mind the retighten won’t be as time-consuming as the initial install. I don’t know how you found the person that did your Sisterlocks before but my recommendation to you would be to go on www.sisterlocks.com and you will find certified consultants that know what they’re doing and if you decide to get interlocs and you don’t want do it yourself, you can contact a Sisterlocks consultants from the website and ask them if they do interlocks or you can even Google locticians in your area and see if they do interlocs. Ask them if you can come in for a consultation to get an estimate. I would even ask if the they an IG page so you can see some of their work.🥰
Hi 😊 I’m not sure if you’re referring to Sisterlocks or Microlocs but either way the prices may be a little higher in NY because of cost of living. The best thing you can do if you decide to get Sisterlocks is visit the Sisterlocks website (www.Sisterlocks.com) find a few consultants that’s closest to you (at least 3) and get a consultation from each. Ask each of them if they charge by the hour or one flat price when it’s time to do your retightens (flat price is better). If you decide to get Microlocs then the price should be a lot less and than whenever they were charging you for Sisterlocks. You can ask the Sisterlocks consultant if they install Microlocs and if they do, tell them that you want Microlocs but you want a similar pattern to Sisterlocks. Or you can google locations in your area that install Microlocs call a few and compare prices. I hope this helps🥰
