Men would rather put on an 11-48t cassette than go to therapy (switch to a double crank). Nice build! Love microSHIFT RDs. Such a bargain for the performance and finish.
I have used Advent on a couple of projects. It’s brilliant. Easy to set up and bulletproof to use. I especially like the drop bar shifter while wearing thick winter gloves. It’s very tactile. In the US, it was available all through Pandemic at the regular street price. You can see it on all kinds of bikes. MicroSHIFT is now a player.
I have the microShift Advent X on my Joshua FS bike from 1999, my Trek 6000 hard tail from 1996 and my gravel conversion - I used the pro trigger. Will be getting the Advent X road shifters for my new gravel build so I can use this awesome 11-48 cassette, derailleur (with clutch) combo on all my bikes. Great choice and chapeau to microShift. One nice thing about the 104bcd 4 bolt crank is it is easy to get all sorts of n/w chainrings - my gravel bike is 40T, the Trek 36T and the Joshua 32T.
I put this drivetrain on the missus old 90's ridgeback urban. turned it into a total adventure bike. 500miles later can say its bombproof and I love it. advent x all the way! final tip, if you use an 11 speed chain it makes it even easier to setup and youre more likely to get spares from the bike shop if you need an emergency quicklink or replacement chain.
The rockhopper is just getting better and better! Heads up for the frame bag, if you put some clear gorilla tape on the frame under the straps it will keep it from scratching.
OMG I used to own the same Rockhopper Comp! I'm sure I owned it around 1992 (I was around 15) and it was used then. I also had a set of Pace RC30 rigid forks on it!
I just recently bought a microshift advent X group for a flat bar road bike, cassette looks soooo funny on the skinny road wheels, it works though and is very good for the price.
Same as you saw the Advent X on sale on wiggle shifter and derailleur for £50. I couldn't afford 2 of the microshift cassettes so went for 2 Wuzei branded 11 - 46 from ebay. Had the drivetrain and cassette on my fat bike and they have been great. 2 cassettes for £60, will just have to see how they last.
Very cool. I have like 5 old steel frames that need love. What is that bottle cage for the big bottle? With the velcro? I am a big dude and require much hydration.
I am not a fan of those medium stuff, as it looks like they are copying stridsland. i think it should be more about supporting the good shop and stuff. but other than that i like what you are doing
what wheels were u using to fit that cassette? i'm assuming the dropout spacing is 135? i wanna put convert mine to 10 speed but cant find the wheels! thanks for any advice etc. Love your videos!!
