Dear Sir, Your video is very helpful, Please advise me of a formula to use when calculating Over time hrs, If an employee has not signed out ( mistakenly ) that particular cell will show a Zero value, hence I would like to have a Zero value as the answer. Create a formula best fits this calculation. Many thanks ,

The 1.5 assumes that overtime pays "time-and-a-half" so if you normally earn $10 per hour, your overtime hours are worth $15.

This was amazing. Thanks a million. But, you did not explain how you got the Normal to appear in the cells of calculation. Please, Help.
@599CD
@599CD 4 года назад
Sure I did. I showed you the calculation and then I used AutoFill to pull it down the rest of the rows.

Georgi Georgiev I often prefer using multiple columns and hiding them because it makes it easier to find problems, and to modify the formula later (not to mention explaining to other people how you arrived at that formula).
@georgigeorgiev4871
@georgigeorgiev4871 9 лет назад
I get that. The only problem is, that when you have many columns it consumes more memory. But i guess this should be an advanced topic, so I'm sorry for bringing it up. Keep up the good work! Thanks for the videos!

when formatting a time sheet or invoice with like what you did in this video and the pay rate is different from Monday to Friday normal rate, for example for Saturday (time and a Half), Sunday (Double Time), and Holidays (Double Time), but you still want to calculate 1-40 hours as Normal rate, 41-50 hours as Time and a Half and 51 hours and above as Double time. can you make a video on how would I formulate that on Excel?

I need to know how to enter a formula that will calculate total time with OT and vacation/holiday pay. For example: Person is paid biweekly. Week 1, works 42 hours. Week 2, works 38.5 hours and uses 4 hours vacation time. Their total hours should be 78.5 hours regular time, 2 hours OT and 4 hours vacation. So 82.5 hours paid at regular time rate and 2 hours paid at OT rate. I can't figure out how to have the spreadsheet only calculate the OT hours based off of 2 hours and not include the additional 2.5 vacation time at OT rate. Can you help??

That shouldn't be too hard to calculate. Send it to me on my TechHelp page and I'll try to cover it. 599cd.com/TechHelp

Can I calculate weekly overtime if I have all data in the same table/sheet as opposed to only calculating for a week and needing a whole new table/sheet as the week goes.
@599CD

You SHOULD have all of your data in the same sheet.

Ok, but what about this. So, I'm union. I get OT after 9 hours, daily, rather than after 45 hours in a week. so I can work 35 hours and still get OT that week. I'm looking to set up a sheet where I can input my hours at the end of each day and it will autofill the fields accordingly. I don't need fields for start and end times, just hours worked, much like your own spreadsheet but just for myself. So, I'll input my hours worked each day, Monday to Saturday. say, 9.5, 9, 10, 4, 8.5, 0 respectively. reg rate we'll say is 25, and OT is time and a half. As you can see, I'll collect OT for 2 of the 5 days. I'm having difficulty figuring out how to show regular hours worked, OT hours worked, and gross pay based on that information. PLEASE HELP while I still have hair left lol

I have a question, how does this method also work if you get paid bi-weekly? lets say I worked 35 hours in one week and 50 hours in the next? (35 + 50)= 85hours. I guess I'm suppose to get paid 10 hours OT from those 50. Correct? However, I've seen employers add up both weeks like this and when you get your paycheck, you only get paid 5 hours OT instead of 10 hours. Is that legal?
@599CD
@599CD 9 лет назад
HarlemFinest212 I can't say what's legal in your area. Consult an attorney. Every state has different OT laws.
