Dive into the world of real-time data processing with our latest tutorial on constructing a near real-time data pipeline using Microsoft Fabric. In this comprehensive guide, we take you through the journey of creating a dynamic data pipeline that leverages Azure Event Hubs, and Microsoft Fabric to stream data directly into a Lakehouse Delta table.
🚀 What You'll Learn:
Setting Up Azure Event Hubs: Start from scratch by configuring Azure Event Hubs to receive streaming data.
Python Scripting for Data Simulation: Discover how to write a Python script that generates and sends fake temperature data, mimicking real-world IoT devices.
Integrating with Microsoft Fabric Event Stream: Seamlessly connect Azure Event Hubs with Microsoft Fabric to stream your data in near real-time to Lakehouse Delta table.
🔧 Why This Tutorial?
Whether you're a data engineer looking to implement real-time data solutions or a data enthusiast curious about streaming technologies, this tutorial provides valuable insights into building scalable and efficient data pipelines within the Microsoft ecosystem.
🌐 Experience Hands-On Learning:
Step-by-step instructions for each stage of the pipeline construction.
Best practices for managing and monitoring your data pipeline.
Troubleshooting tips to keep your data flowing smoothly.
💡 Take Your Data Engineering Skills to the Next Level:
By the end of this tutorial, you'll have a functional near real-time data pipeline that can be adapted and expanded to fit various real-world scenarios. Equip yourself with the knowledge to tackle real-time data challenges and unlock the full potential of Microsoft Fabric for your data projects.

So we have two Azure SQL sources with CDC enabled. I can connect it using event stream and it's good but my issue is that the data is received as different columns "schema", "payload(before, after)" etc instead of directly receiving the actual columns of our data in the data preview tab of event stream. The payload column does contain what we need, the 'before' key in the json gives us the original data and the 'after' key in the json gives us the changed data but to process this in real time we are currently using a notebook to send the received data from the event stream to a kafka endpoint, use spark with a streaming notebook to get the data and then only update the lake house in real time. Can anyone help us, basically the pipeline is Azure SQL(CDC) -> Event stream -> Custom Endpoint(Kafka) -> Spark streaming notebook in fabric -> Lakehouse This has become a problem in terms of resource and managing so much code.

What is the purpose of the the event hub-step? is there an issue with consuming the data directly in the eventstream?

It could be that you are now able to connect to an Eventstream directly by using a custom app as a source. I haven't been playing around with Eventstreams lately and I am not totally aware what is the latest status with it since Fabric is updating so fast. I would be curios to know if you have tried to connect to it directly with a custom app option? :)

Connecting PBI should be quite straight forward operation in Fabric
