FSX - Missions. That is something that was definitely missing in the 2020 version. I loved doing missions. Especially where there were add on packs that brought many more interesting, exciting,and challenging flying adventures. We will see what the 2024 actually brings.

@@mat2941 unfortunately the xbox version is known for lacking features that the game has on pc already. A lot of cool features are missing :( I cant even get my tca quad throttle to work on xbox .. doesn't recognize it at all

@@dylanmiller9604 Whilst FSLTL is amazing for what it is, it is so limited by Asobo's game engine. Considering Microsoft kept saying they were going to fix it, then to say you've got to buy a new game, it's a bit of a pisstake imo.

They should make multiplayer to where people can be passengers in the seats, so the one pilot flys around a whole plane of passengers who can talk to each other and stuff why they fly around and have tickets for their seats and everything

I was running 2020 on a PC I had custom built for this purpose but still it dragged. Looking at buying xBox so I can use this in my flight school. Do you have any recommendations?

I flew 50 hours on MSFS 2020 in 3 years up until last December. Mainly bacause of performance issues and crashes. I revisited the sim a month ago and finally it works quite well at last (especially with the frame gen. mod). It only took them years to figure out some major issues. I am currently a happy pilot flying in airliners and looking forward for MSFS 2024. I don't mind buying it as long as they work hard to make constant improvements.

@@aileronsintowind6835 I started with 8600k (OC) + 2070 Super in 2020, Now I have 13500 + 3060Ti. That is about midrange performance. I had terrible stutters and crashes all the time. Hopefully, MSFS 2024 will utilise my CPU better.

@@glidertastic5778 I’ve a i99900OC 64GB ram and a 12GB 3080. Stutters I get in certain airports or with MP in large groups.. but crashes haven’t been a huge issue now for over two years. Check your community folder as well as a lot of stuff that released in the early stages haven’t been updated bud in years. And they’re causing issues

For me, backward compatibility is priority when it comes to new FS. FS2002 introduces GMAX model, but still accepts FS2000's model format with some limitations. Then FS2004 also pretty much uses the same model as FS2004 with some new alpha channel for reflective texture and other enhancements. FSX, again is still pretty much compatible with models taken all the way back from FS2002, but of course will demand updates like normal maps-supporting textures and so on. The recent MSFS 2020 sim update has improved the performance significantly. It is possible now to fly to major airports at full AI Traffic, and without much frame rate impact. If they say, 2024 could still offer more improvements with multi-threading optimisation, that is a boon indeed. If the backward compatibility is supported, it is day one purchase for me.

I have some beloved mods and addons (a lot of it is freeware) that I can’t do without. If they don’t work for 2024, then I’ll be waiting until similar ones are developed before buying it.

i don't think MSFS24 will be like MSFS as in open planet i think it's going to be more of a smaller locations based and MSFS 2020 will still be the go to.

Great update Shane. I think your estimated release date is accurate. Everything I’ve read predicts a late 3rd quarter/early 4th quarter release which would be August or September. All I know is that it’s going to be fantastic!

MS have 3 AAA games launching in that window so unless it's not ready and has no choice but to be push to the end i think it will be sooner tbh i was expecting it to be a stealth drop at the Dev Direct but might still be a summer showcase stealth drop.

I suspect that the the release date of MSFS 2024 will be roughly the same date as MSFS 2020, that being August 18th, but it's just a thought, no confirmations or announced released date

Anybody know if they will have finally got rid of the 2006 FSX legacy code that severely compromises the use of multi core/hyperthreading and pushes so much dependence on a single core? - somehow knowing MS I VERY MUCH doubt it!

I know this is and will always be a simulator, but I would love to see something like a “career pilot” mode. Maybe you start off flying privately in smaller planes and as you get better at flying (up to the game, maybe add in skill tests or something) you work your way up to flying airliners

Hello Frank, I recommend picking up a Joystick with a twist action for the rudder to get you started. Thrustmaster Airbus Side-stick would be a good first Joystick to get started.

They need to create a whole lot more missions and challenges. Some kind of career mode as a growing pilot or something like that. Something that creates some kind of gameplay and make it more interactive. If you aren't a hardcore simmer it gets boring pretty quick if there is not challenge.

I'm hoping it'll be like an aircraft version of truck simulator, such as airline jobs, cargo jobs, some type of in game currency to buy things. There needs to be some type of goal or something to work for other than the number of hours I have in the game 😂

I doubt it will be in the next game but I want real fire to shoot out the engine when having an engine fire instead of just some wimpy smoke. And I want to have failure scenarios like getting hit with an EMP and having to glide the best you can to the runway and touchdown without landing gear or anything.

FS 24 is what I THOUGHT we were getting with MSFS. smh. oh well I'll take it. Can't wait to spend 4 days downloading this on my 10 mbps connection lol. At least by the time this comes out I should be ready to upgrade speeds. I live in middle of nowhere so I have to use "expensive" (for me) fixed wireless internet. Lol I know I'm getting older cause I'm more stoked about this than GTA 6 haha.

Except for costs, I'm not worried about MSFS2024, as Asbobo have already said its like a update/ upgrade with flight sim at its heart and all the stuff bought via the in-house Microsoft store will be test and made sure works with MSFS2024. MSFS2024 means they cmcan advance the look, effects, lighting, seasons, new animations, new weather and physics in the new engine. Which us limited in MSFS2020 code at the moment. So as long 2024 as its still a flight sim, I can not see an issues, things will just get even better???

I hope they add a free walking mode, so you can just leave you'r plane and walk arround. Using the drone camera is not that great.

I'm still a little jaded from the 2020 launch. It's been nothing but one money grab after another, with a constand flow of promises held like carrots in front of us. The only reason I can see for them labeling this as new, is if they have found new ways to profit. Monthly fees? Ads built in? MORE micro-transactions? Do you suppose they'll offer a discount to existing 2020 owners? I must say, I doubt it.

i honestly cant see it coming this year nothing was said or shown since the trailer last year there should be at least a few gameplay vids up by now im loving the fs 2020 on my series x and at times yes frame rate can dip and become choppy at times when in a dence city with a lot of lights at night for them to release a new version that will have more realistic areas do they honestly think people on consoles will like 10fps

These are plans for several years, not for 2024! It's like "frying chops in Siberia under the open sky" I'll come back to this video and my comment next year. We will see what will change in MSFS in 2024. If everything that was said in this video is implemented in MSFS, it would be a huge success for Microsoft. I, however, am pessimistic about it. Rather, these updates are too much for one year. Anyway, I wish you the best of luck.

It's all about money. I spend money 4 years ago and they still work hard to get it bugfree. That costs a load of money. And probable money doesn't come in fast enough . So they did some minor changes to FS2020 , added some missions and call it 2024. Can i have your money please?

This time they should also use maps/satellite and 3D images from Google Earth, which are 6-8 years ahead of BING. In Google Maps, cities/buildings look better, more realistically created by the algorithm than in MSF2020, created manually from the World update! . So far, I've been very disappointed in MSFS 2020. The scenery is very realistic, yes... But, for instrument approaches, etc., it is more toy like. If you want real, do Xplane 12. And, it doesn't take a half an hour to load.

I think that I must be living in a parallel universe. In my opinion, MSFS is fantastic and it has transformed my enjoyment of GA flying as well as the airliners. I do not see it being "toy" like at all. But go ahead - enjoy X-Plane 12.

There is nothing here that could be remotely described as a new sim. This reminds me of Dovetail releasing successive versions of Train Simulator which were not in any way new and were not even fixes for past flaws. This is clearly a way of attracting more money without delivering anything fundamentally new. The key things that need desperately updating are weather improvements and decent ATC and AI. I see zero evidence that this will happen.

im just hoping they don't make it to gamey. I mean 2020 is already pretty gamey when compared to DCS and Xplane12. it feels like 3rd party devs were finally getting thier addons dialed in with the physics engine.. .. i'm also not keen on buying another multi hundred gig simulator.....
