Excellent review thanks for taking the time. I use to work at Microsoft with the old FlightSim team and know how inspired and avid they were with their platform I am so glad to see it back in glory.
i prefer Microsoft now after watch the video and actually it’s a bit impossible for Brazilians to get a 3090 because it costs about 20 minimum wage. Xbox is much more affordable for Brazilians and it does a good job as we can see. I’m glad.
Years ago, I gave up on flight sims because my level of obsessing with performance outwayed the actual enjoyment of just playing. Now, with my Series X, Thrustmaster Full Kit, LG CX TV and Razer Keyboard and Mouse I'm perfectly happy to fly again.
Same here, I stopped years ago after realizing that I was spending more time tweaking and looking at the FPS count rather than actually enjoying the simulator. I am running the flight sim on a Series S and I am extremely happy. Still wondering how much better it would look on a Series X.
I was the same. I had to upgrade my pc too many times. I have a host of hardware from Goflight. Radio stack, rudders, throttle quadrants, etc. software addons. Now I'm getting back in the game, just waiting for an Xbox to become available for a reasonable price.
Hi Mark. You have no idea how good your video did to me. I'm a fan of MFS and was very frustrated that I was missing this new 2020 because I wouldn't spend US$2000 on a PC. When I watched this video, it changed everything. I already ordered my Xbox X and I can't wait for the day I receive it and start enjoying this fantastic sim. Thank you very much for publishing this very informative video.
My thoughts exactly. As someone who can't be bothered to upgrade my perfectly acceptable desktop computer - it would be too expensive to force me to use/buy a new high end gaming computer. The X-box gives me very acceptable performance at a budget price.
@@frozenfrosty00 Possibly...as printers are a good example where the consumables (ink in that case) are very profitable. Well, as I only intend to buy MSFS - they'll loose money on me.
@Lungho That's not true. SU5 on PC had a bug which removed volumetric lighting and had LOD issues, this is fixed since the SU5 hotfix and subsequently WU6.
First class guide, Mark, thank you. I think the PC with your 3090 GPU was definitely more crisp. Given I only need the hardware for MSFS I am going the XBox route if I can ever find one to buy. The lack of VR on XBox is a definition negative but given the price point it’s not exactly a huge investment to waste if I subsequently upgrade to PC. A kind of training rig!
I just want to thank you for not only this video but other videos on this channel. Having watched most of your videos & I have now purchased MSFS202 for XBox-X as it made perfect financial sense. I've been simming for a number of years now & my last PC flightsim rig cost me over £2500 back in 2016 sadly that PC doesn't run the current titles so when i told my wife that I wanted to spend £3500 on a new PC she nearly had apoplexy. Luckily for both of us I found this video & for a 1/4 of the price of a new PC I now have this on XBox & I am delighted with it so far. Please keep the XBox videos coming & thank you once again.
That is a completely idiotic statement. Xbox requires system updates too, and you can use the same driver on pc for years without any issue. These comments are constantly made by people who have zero clue on what they're saying. Pc requires identical maintenance as Xbox. You just hit an "install" button on a prompt and wait for it to complete. You seem desperate to make it seem so much more complex than that😅
That was an excellent comp. I think for the casual couch pilot the Xbox versions cost alone is a better choice. If you are interested into becoming a commercial airline pilot you will want to start with a $4000 PC and yoke and go from there. I myself thing the Xbox x version leek amazing an will be all that I will ever need in a flight sim at 58 years old. Thanks.
I formatted the MSFS drive on my PC today. No looking back. Console is just convenient and user friendly. On PC you need to be an IT technician to even get it do do updates and start. My Xbox updated MSFS while I was sleeping and the console was on standby.
I read a real pilot saying it looks more realistic on Xbox as pc is too crisp. We tend to forget we are flying through quite a dense gas/air and the slight softness give a more authentic feel.
You should be congratulated on the release of this video which I know takes huge amounts of time, skill & video editing know how. I was amazed at the X-Box version to be honest but like you I’m hardened pc user with decades of sim & real world flying. Thank you for giving us a view into the two platforms.
I play on the Series X with the T flight full kit and a mouse. I use the xbox controller to move the camera around. It looks amazing on my LG nanocell tv.
Pro tip. No matter if you run the game on Xbox or PC. If you have a modern TV with interpolation. Connect the Xbox or PC to it. On Samsung TVs they call it auto motion plus. Makes the game look like it's running in 120fps and it's bloody brilliant.
I’m torn about this implementation. I could never see myself converting to the Xbox due to a few factors. My existing peripherals will not work, and I love access to the community creations or 3rd party developers. However I’m very glad that people without these limitations can now get into MSFS. I’m cautiously optimistic that Asobo and MS will not abandon the PC players.
If you don’t have a compatible PC already, then definitely Xbox. The sales tax alone on a high end gaming PC could easily exceed the cost of a Series S and come close to the X.
@@nifixious7600 No, if the gpu market was normal then 2k would be the cost for a high-end pc, good pc's are more like 1k or cheaper with the right budgeting.
I’ve played FS for 20 years and I came to the point where I can’t justify for 1 game, replacing my laptop with decent specs for over £1500. I purchased the Xbox S to see how I got on and what I thought of it. After a few days of it my thoughts are instantly……. Lack of a 2D or flat cockpit style……moving controls about and adjusting the view seems clumsy. Sometimes I can’t see over the nose to land.or see. No Tower View at the airports…..truly showing the livery and flight models. Viewing your landing and crabbing in crosswinds etc and other aircraft movements. Unable to record or replay parts of your flight. I hope some of these maybe in future updates……other “Flight Sims” can do it! If anyone can through any light on these I may continue the journey with Xbox!
The only reasons for the Vatsim/Ivao restriction is due to the fact that Xbox has tight network security, but I suspect this will be overcome at some stage.
I 100% share your concern Mark as someone who had never been into flight simming before the pc launch of msfs2020 i have now become a hardcore simmer with 360 flight hours in the sim. Having said that i suppose i have ms to thank for getting me into flightsimming because msfs really has a good hook that was and is enticing to me and thats flying around the world:).
Honestly, I play on the Xbox Series S and you get a very capable console with good visuals for a way cheaper price. Let's face it, were not comparing a high end PC to an Atari system. If you must have the latest and greatest to be the king of the block than have at it, I'm good the the S.
I have this on Xbox series X and have been blown away of how well it runs. I’m not a serious flight sim guy myself, mainly because I fly for a living, on the A320 to be precise. The general aviation stuff seems pretty good, however I’m massively disappointed in the Airbus, it literally does not work how the real thing works at all, I understand that 3rd party versions of the Airbus are a lot better than the stock version, which in my professional opinion is a mess.
I also fly A320's but am more forgiving as I see very few FS 2020 buyers would really want to go through the extra complexity of the real thing. Happy flying sir!
It was useful and informative, Mark! Well done, Sir! To me the PC displays were better in all ways, except clouds. I am optimistic that Asobo, under the Microsoft wing, will prevail. There will be hiccups of course. Update 5 was one of them; it should probably have been delayed rather than released knowing there would be flack. They recovered in a hurry indicating they are listening and are serious about satisfying their users. Most of us would give them extra time to insure they get it right when updates or fixes go public. Thanks for your fair and open analytics, Mark!
Great review - thank you. My issues with PC flight Sims are now; Cost, conflicts, Windows (updates and other cr@p trying to enforce obsolescence upon my PC and me etc), also tweaking settings. I used to enjoy the cut and thrust of that kind of thing, now? I just want to fly a quality flight sim, fully accepting that I'm not in a real aeroplane (I'm not yet a fan of VR). In addition with the current complexity of MSFS 2020, it won't be possible to run a dedicated air-gapped PC? Thus at this stage I'm almost done with Microsoft PC based software - as I'm not a fan of Microsoft or Windows 10 etc. X-Box? New to me. As I just want to be able to use my pedals, yoke or stick, it might be the answer. My current stick and pedals are common or garden, popular, if Xbox can't accommodate those? Then I may have issues. Having products from third parties would be a nice to have too though in Xbox. One thing that would be good is some sort of ATC add on in Xbox so as to speak with real people and have realistic ATC.
I hope they implement some video control into the Xbox versions in some future updates perhaps but they might not. However I feel that I could do something more with the Xbox screen with simply using monitor calibration controls hehehe 😜
In the xbox image its like there a soft filter while on the 4k pc 3090 its super crisp and so it should be the 3090 card cost almost as much as 3 xbox series x.
I play it on the Xbox series S on a 1440p monitor and the graphics are amazing, there’s some pop in in distance but its not that bad and it doesn’t effect your enjoyment of the sim. For 300 pound console its amazing. I would wholeheartedly recommend it, since getting my series s I no longer play FSX on my pc ( as its old and probably can’t run the 2020 game).
That flight deck shot of the A320 reminds me how poor the default aircraft is. I'm a PC player, but hope that the FBW team are able to port the A32NX to XBox.
Thanks for the comparison. Exactly what I was looking for. Allowed me to make my mind up. Although the Xbox is decent, the PC is undeniably better. Will choose the latter 👍
The PC is only as good as your internet connection speed. I've seen guys with 5 grand PC's and whopping specs that provide a very poor visual environment.
" have the FS2020 on upper mid-range PCs, but it is torture crashes, high load times, impossible updates, having to reinstall the MFS ... because of this I bought the XBOX series X and it is definitely a love 😍😍 it is a pleasure to fly."
@@obsidianzarok2361 I think it still is in terms of performance, scenery draw density and allows for an overall comparison which is the main point of the video.
@@Jut1911 Rate is highly dependent on using real time satellite data, real time weather and real time air traffic. I have 100MB/sec connection and get 60fps on my 86" 4K UHD LG TV regardless of scenery or aircraft flown. 90% of the videos on RU-vid show obvious issues due to slow internet. I'd guess most people rarely have 50MB/sec with most at what seems like 20 MB/sec. FS 2020 is not worth buying unless you can run all the live streaming global data.
I chose Xbox because we don’t have any fibre broadband and BT won’t be giving our town fibre broadband. So there’s no point spending £3K to £4K on a top spec gaming PC if rarely get over 10Mbps as I won’t benefit from the graphics due to low bandwidth so Xbox is the only affordable way I can get good graphics.
I had this on Series S and couldn’t believe how good it ran on a £249 console, absolutely stunning. I’ve since upgraded to a Series X and I’m still enjoying Flight Sim very much. So much so that I’m considering upgrading to a PC and would love to be able to use this in VR. Just the small hurdle of the huge price of entry I have to overcome 🤔 (I don’t currently own a PC)
I wouldn't bother mate. The Series X is all you need. One thing you MUST have is a very fast internet connection! Mine is 100MB/sec and I'm in 4K on an 86" LG 4K UHD TV and I get rock solid 60fps no matter where I fly or what aircraft I use. I always run live satellite data, live weather and live air traffic as well. I see a LOT of PC guys with RTX 3090Ti's etc that have so much stutter and popup it would drive me nuts. FS 2020 is totally dependent on streaming data to show you low latency realistic visuals of the entire planet. Cheers.
@@theaustralianconundrum how do you get 60 fps on Xbox. Do you get it with VRR ? My TV is too old for VRR. The internet is shit where I live, I only get 30mb download and 5mb up 🤦♂️. I have all the live satellite data on but get a lot of stutter In cities
@@BL00MYB0Y Firstly. Xbox Series X is designed for 4K @ 120fps. It's printed on the box! FS 2020 relies on fast internet to allow a high frame rate otherwise if you put on live sat data and real time weather and live air traffic all that will pull the frame rate down where it's un flyable. My internet is 100MB/sec rock solid. 30MB/sec is fine if you don't use streaming live sat data and real weather and live air traffic.
@@theaustralianconundrum I’m not a moron, I know it’s capable of 120 FPS, it’s just all the videos I’ve seen have never been a stable 60fps on Xbox. I always have the live streaming on but multiplayer off and generally it runs acceptable, just a few stutters in built up areas. It’s normally worse after Asobo release a major update for it. As far as I’m aware Flight Sim is capped at 30 fps on console
@@BL00MYB0Y I didn't say you were a moron. lol I don't use multiplayer. Almost every RU-vidr who have videos have very slow internet connections. It doesn't matter if they are running an RTX 3090Ti as many do, I still see poor frame rates. I find every Asobo update improves the performance for me. Have a lovely day sweetheart!
Good comparison, but to answer your question. I feel the reason for the current SU5 issues was because Asobo was rushed to make sure this was going to work on the Xbox on the date promised, no matter the problems with PC. As sad as that is, I kinda understand, but what I don't is the way the SU5 was not communicated to the 3rd party developers, it seems they to were also taken by surprise. And that's not acceptable!!! Your right we will see in a couple years for the next paid MSFS 202? program and if there is continued improvement. The PC's will also be able to get better hardware, Xbox X not so much.
Excellent video and demonstration. Again, the PC is much more alive. Guess I will hold off on the Xbox until they can match the clarity of the PC. Glad I am waiting as spending 500 plus for the x version is not worth it , however that is my opinion.
Thank you , it was very informative, I am new to this glad I found your Chanel, I was looking for a full experience of flying I believe it will be much better enjoying in VR ,any advice?
Hey Mark, I'm a Commercial Pilot intend to get an A320 type. I'm looking at option to purchase a portable Sim set up. I mainly wanna focuz more on the cockpit view to practice my flying procedures ( I may buy throttle hardware for kinda need) what kinda sim would u suggest? Can I do it with a Xbox?
@@SimHangerFS thanks, what kinda limitations it's got? Somethin I that I know I won't be able to add in lota hardware. I'm just using a joystick controller for hand flying other than what do we have on it? Will it allow me to practice my procedures and approaches?
The XBox videos all look dull, which they definitely aren't in real life on my Series X (I have a 10900K/3090 PC as well). I guess the XBox wasn't set to output HDR whilst the PC was?
@@SimHangerFS OK. That might explain it. I played both XBox and PC in-between the hotfixes and didn't notice such a large difference. One was using an OLED though and another an LCD panel (both HDR10). I thought the problem was that SU5 did set HDR peak brightness on the PC even on a non-HDR screen.
Xbox looks a little washed out compared to pc, but play it on an HDR TV or dolby vision a ig difference. XBOX version is made to work in HDR10, so unless the monitor is doing hdr won't look good. Anyway for a gaming console it's impressive on Xbox and need a good pc to match what it's doing
Thank you so much for your very Informative video! Please let me ask: Since I had already purchased a top end and fast pc a few years ago, I also bought the full version of MSFS 2020. Was it a mistake to have purchased the Xbox version of the flight sim? Since I’m exclusively using the pc and never any external console, now I‘m forced to pay the monthly extra for the Xbox- abo I never use? Thanks for a short reply and kind regards!
What is lacking on Xbox is provision to have a keyboard to enhance the Xbox controller. There will are yokes and joysticks that are compatible with the Xbox Series X/S, but at the moment, the Xbox controller/joystick/yokes have limited buttons to control various aspects of the sim not involved with aircraft control surfaces.
@@SimHangerFS That's great. I wasn't sure the Xbox had programming to accept a keyboard. I wonder if this is widely known in the Xbox fan community. It actually proves that the Xbox is a computer which runs highly optimized software.
Xbox Series X is simply a more comfy experience. PC are not upgradable, when you need to change the CPU, you need to change the motherboard and RAM. Also the Xbox Series X controller is the best controller for flight sim becuse you have Trigger rumbles and controller rumbler.
Hi Thanks for the info I see better graphics' on the pc but of course your is high end pc one more thing, motion platforms are mostly geared for pc operation, I recently purchase one but not delivered yet Thanks again
The Xbox X might be cheaper but try finding one to buy anywhere, its easier buying plutonium from you local grocery store lol. They say the severe supply shortage of Xbox X will go on until 2023 at least so don’t put it on your Christmas list this year or next year or the year after lol by which time you’d have saved enough money to buy a good gaming PC.
Colors pop on PC and terrain looks more sharp. Other than that I cant tell the difference. Impressive from a console but you limited the frames to only 30 which is limiting your graphics card.
That is more due to his settings than the platform. The colours can be adjusted easily, he literally just has the contrast higher on the PC footage. If you look at his Xbox footage you can see that whites aren’t pure white. I play this game on Xbox and the whites are pure and the colours are vibrant
The scenery addons available for Xbox, there's only 3 available last I checked a couple of days ago, I bought the New Zealand one and was hoping for more. Wondering if creators will port or make from scratch scenery addons for the Xbox.
Great video. Thanks. Shared to Facebook. I personally would love to see 2 versions pc and xbox or at least if the keep the graphic settings sliders for PC to push the max. It's a very valid point I hadn't considered 🤔 will xbox hold back the sim to limitations of xbox. I hope asobo and MS understand who is the core market here. Xbox players get bored fast and move onto the next thing.
Does anyone here know if there is a way to Play on BOTH the PC and XBox but without syncing all the settings and preferences over? I have been using the PC, but wanted to try it on XBox. Since there was no way to move the cursor I gave up and went back to the PC, but in setting up the XBox settings that I could set, it blew up all my PC settings when I went back to it. I want to have separate settings on each without them interfering with one another.
There is not that option as far as I am aware, it treats it as one installation. Use a cheap Logitech wireless mouse and keyboard on the Xbox…cursor moves fine.
Don’t believe Asobo anymore. They lied about graphics downgrade . Comparison is not accurate . On pc should be shown graphics before su 5 ( you have one on your channel when comparing 2080 vs 3090 in Chicago. They downgraded game to fit Xbox which will never beat your pc used for this video . Fell in love with XP 11 where planes and fly mechanics 100 times more close to reality then in msfs2020.
Only if they come with that livery as third party add ons can not be used. There are a few for some of the default aircraft via the marketplace in sim.
@@SimHangerFS On my Qled TV the result, in terms of brightness and reflections, is better than what is shown in this video. Here it seems that everything is "out of focus", as if there was a kind of "opaque mashera"
@@SimHangerFS ok but I'm not talking about resolution, I say that in the xbox version you see a veil of opacity, independent of the resolution, as if there were a filter. even the lights seem to be subdued. I'm just saying it's not like that on my TV.
1. Vr died in 2017. 2. Xbox version will never go away now I love it. 3. It gives people who can't afford a £3000 pc to experience this masterpiece. 4. From all the reviews I've seen/read its actually performing better on console then it ever was on pc. I'd say if your on a budget get the Ss. If you want to pay through the neck and to keep upgrading the cards get a pc its personal preference.👍
Great video thanks.. I can see you are a PC simmer like me, so you will know in the PC stratosphere, its all over the forums, than since update 5, to include the xbox, that the flight sim graphics have been dumbed down so it will work on the consoles. Microsoft is aware of the fuss being made by PC gamers, that they are going to give the PC simmers, extra settings so we can get it back to its former glory. Since update 5, the sim looks horrible on PC compared to what it looked like before. ive done 500 hours on this sim, and you really can tell the difference, you have Pop ins on ultra, the draw distance is horrible now. like you said, im very concerned of the direction this will likely take for us PC simmers, effectively they are going to have to develop two branches, one for the console and one for the PC, and i cant see them doing that, so they will have to keep the sim castrated, or its not going to work on consoles, i think deep down, we know this..
not at all, i have watched M.S and asobo dum down msfs virtually from when i was a beta person, update 5 dummed it down beyond belief sadly it is the bean counters who have taken over control and i would not be surprised if they dont pull the plug on updates before the end of this year, after all they have done it several times in the past, however like xp 11 and FSX the future of msfs lies inn the hands of the 3rd party devs not M.S.
whatever, it doesn't matter. you will get angry all the same. I bought an unfinished and buggy game, I feel cheated! asobo made a very bad product made!
