I dont like the idea to mention gpt-5 in a title of a video where gpt-5 was not mentioned

next year at a press announcement: "And today we would like to introduce our next CEO of Microsoft..... GPT-10! Alongside him, our new Chief Compliance Officer, VP of Operations, VP of R&D, and the rest of our board will be GPT-9!" LOL

This is a way for corporations to slowly learn your exact job perfectly. Imagine if the corporations a.i. were on each users computer. After watching every keystroke and mouse movement of every employee over time, it could do it all so much more efficiently. It's amazing what it will be able to do. Those people will now be free to go outside and pick up garbage, and repair the roads, and plant food forests, etc. A.i. will manage us like the robots we were born to be. Obviously it'll take care of the paperwork, the owner always does.

On one side, I'm happy with all the progress and super hiped as a developer, integrating these tools on a daily basis. On the other side I think Microsoft is getting out of hand. They have github, openai, and mistral. They dictate what will happen, not sure if I want AGI or ASI in the hands of one corporation (don't trust the government either, though 😅)

Look, we as individuals demand privacy, which this OS (Microsoft) does not deliver. It gives a false sense of security to those who are naive enough to believe the trash put out by this company. They proclaim they will not use the data, yet in the past, they have!. In the past, there have been instances where Microsoft faced criticism for its data collection practices. For example, Windows 10 was scrutinized for its telemetry features, which collected data about users' activities without their explicit consent. Despite Microsoft's assurances that the data would be anonymized and used solely to improve user experience, many users felt betrayed and misled, as they were under the impression that their data was completely private.

Is it just me, or do you hate when they talk about "safety" without defining it? Real safety is important, but I don't care if the models will say something offensive. I'd rather not cut back on their capability just to have "safety". Imagine if Google Docs wouldn't let you type in an offensive sentence? If you are over 18, why do we need a PG experience with these models?

As an LLM engineer, the types of things I can do have increased my productivity through the roof. There is no doubt a lot of jobs will be made redundant. We really are heading into a potential dystopian future that Marc Andreesen predicted: “The spread of computers and the Internet will put jobs in two categories. People who tell computers what to do, and people who are told by computers what to do.”

A lot of companies I've talked to have concerns with MS and privacy. A standard install of MS anything is a privacy sieve. This raises more concerns than it answers. Everyone is working on AI implementations, but air-gapped and local. I like much of the MS thinking and progress, but enterprise implementation is more complex.

Microsoft has been preparing for AI to write code for decades.

What I found interesting was the item was added to cart almost immediately, it may just be how the vid was edited but I would expect the screen content to change, get to the product and then add it. Unless a page is opened and product added in some back corner of the AI's private browser :)

In the Minecraft scene with the cave I think that the AI added the echo automatically. This is not only a voice model, it can generate all kinds of audio. But yeah, really impressive if true

Demo this scenario.. you and your significant other are in the same room, doing your own things on your own computers.. and one or both of you are chatting with CoPilot. .... Silence has its benefits. Open-comcept office floors? Not that anyone goes into work anymore. Cubes? On the street with your phone? Co-Pilot: "Oh no, that street-person looks like he is going to mug you.. RUN!".. in your car? Co-Pilot: "You are driving too fast. I will have to report you to local law enforcement and your insurance company".

I might be crazy, but I'm feeling that a lot of this move is actually directed at keeping Windows relevant. Apple made huge moves with their own silicone driving things, and Linux was always the defacto standard for things like experimental tech/server infrastructure, and Valve really bumped it forward with Proton/Steam Deck. All while Windows has been declining, with ads being thrust in, things getting slower and more RAM hungry than ever, jumping ship to Linux is viable for a way larger group of people. Releasing dedicated libraries to power these things is exactly what they did with DirectX and got a several decades long stranglehold on PC gaming.

I think that potential for at least 10x value to be generated into the economy was generated at the ChatGPT moment. The next important moments will be the AGI and SAI moments.

Everyone is determined to have their commodity/standards moment. Where your "form factor" becomes the default industry standard and everyone has to follow your lead for the next 20 years. Like IBM with the PC, MS with Windows and Office, Adobe with PDFs, Google with search etc. If you can leverage yourself into that standards position its an almost unbreakable advantage and MS are hoping to do it again in AI. Meta is also trying a different tack, I think they know they can't outspend MS so they are trying to become the Linux of AI. Good news is that there will always be room for both, as the co-evolution of Windows and Linux over the years has shown, one for the consumer market, one for the technical/dev/academic market.

I think you forgot to mention how much Microsoft is investing in AI

Watching the mine craft video - I’m thinking of the real world application for this. You could imagine wearing glasses , and it’s telling you how to help someone at the scene of an accident for example. If there is a wound in an artery it is telling you to stuff it with cloth, if there is a different wound it is telling you to create a tourniquet. or, basic Electrical work- it could easily walk you through adding an outlet. there’s so much room to grow augmented reality for real world applications, who’s working on it?

It’s going to be interesting if Nvidia and Microsoft are the first big companies to go down in AI flames when they realize AI is super expensive to maintain.

Microsoft's biggest problem is its age and the lack of quality in some of the products. The current AI campaign won't automatically fix these issues.

the function to add items to your cart must be open api only because I very much doubt Microsoft will scrape any store, so much controversy doing that. Plus, if ai can add items to cart it may be possible for hackers to trigger a target puter to purchase things. feels like much of this presentation is dreams rather than actual features coming to the public soon.

my only concern is that it will likely track your every word, surrounding... contact... one has to be brave in this new world. this is what I dreamed of when the aptiva was released (first pc you could speak to, barely) ~30 year ago... 30 years of seeing the problems with authority overreach... concerns me greatly.

Rewind’s history storage is 100% local, so no inherent security issue. Their new product (name escapes me) is cloud based, but they made a *big* deal about security with it.

Consider this... win32 graphics came out, everybody wanted it, everyone had an immediate use for it. Windows 7 came out - everyone wanted it, everyone needed it. It was actually very late. Now look at this. There are some uses for AI or CoPilot, but apart from some CEOs who see $$$ from firing people, no ne wants it. No one needs it.. if you had a super AI PC right now, what would you do with it that wasnt just (a faster GPU). And would you use the Microsoft interface?? maybe.. And then there is windows 11... everyone hates it. Everyone knows it is trying to capture your data, then sell it to... sales companies, PI companies, even the government, but on top of that it is awkward to use and most definitely not an improvement on 10. It will be forced on users, and MS is stupid enough to kill this golden goose just by doing that. Enthusiasm for new tech is fine, but MS have been ignoring the users for a long time and they need to be careful, this whole thing could implode.. if they have to tell everyone about this new revolution so much, maybe its not such a revolution.. And for the last time - GPT is NOT AI - it is a simulation of AI, if you are not sure of the difference, dont go putting money in it. Secondly, business does not want AI, it wants presentable Linear Regression. Again there are big differences, so we find that MS is talking about AI, from a tech background that cannot produce it, presenting that to companies that don't specifically need it, and relying on a groundswell revolution from the masses that they are alienating with invasive software like CoPilot, and unimpressive user SW like Windows11 and Edge (FFS Edge... are they serious)?
