Go to @2:12 to begin info for using backup utility on Windows. Edit to add, took me a moment to realize he's saying "turn it down" whereas most of us would simply say "expand." Good info on this tutorial, it just has a few quirks.

A tetrabyte is FOUR bytes - quick backup, but kinda low capacity ;)

i thought tetrabyte was larger than gigabytes

I can't even _find_ a definition for tetrabyte online. I'm a little surprised that someone who trains in Microsoft is confusing "tetrabyte" with "terabyte."

Great info, I still have a backup error, what could possibly be wrong or I'm doing wrong? Thanks.

"Tetra byte"? You mean terabyte, right?

I am trying to get an old PC to work and I am getting there slowly but the Windows 7 backup page is empty of any options for backup or restore. Any ideas?

Probably means a back was never made. Maybe one was made on an external drive, but looks like you will have to reinstall the other programs that were on it. Should not be too hard if you have those programs.

When your video began I said to myself, "This guy is great and I have found a guy that knows his business". So I anxiously listened to EVERY word you said. But... You told us EVERY thing we needed to do to fully (or partially fully) backup a external HDD. Again, I listened to EVERY thing you said. But... The video stopped with NOT one word of HOW to use this external HDD fully backed up; to bring my Windows 7 back up to what it was before the internal HDD crashed. Or I want to increase the size of the internal HDD. HOW IN THE PLUPERFECT HALLELUJAH DO YOU DO IT? Huh? I was devastated. So I went on line and read and read and read; how to "backup" a computer; but NOT one told us HOW to use it when the internal HDD goes belly up. They simply did what you did. No disrespect at all! but... Sad indeed. I am VERY dissapointed in your video. Because it is like planning a great vacation and EVERY thing is ready and then you do not take the vacation. Sad indeed. Again, you did a superb job on backups, but NOTHING about using it when the internal HDD goes bad or you want a bigger internal HDD, etc. What the hell good is a backup onto a external HDD if you do not know how to restore it fully or partially to your computer? Huh? Oh well.

Be grateful you have a backup of your original drive. Now you just have to read up on "How to restore your drive from a backup." There are youtube videos on how to do that too. And you cannot increase the size of your hard drive unless you buy a bigger one or it is partitioned into smaller ones; like a 1TB drive with two 500GB partitions.

@@peterwuwei3297 Thank you kind person for responding. Now, you said, "There are RU-vid videos on how to do that too". Please pray tell where those videos are? I tried for many videos; to tell us exactly how to use the HDD that has been backed up the FULL internal HDD's data.. For all I got was words and phrases not understandable, and clear, etc. So PLEASE give me a link to one that will help those that are NOT PC "GuRu's". Anyway, thanks for responding dear person.

@@MrPatdeeee If you want to restore a BACKUP without being able to boot into Windows 7 (because your internal hard drive died or a virus nuked the OS), you need to have a Windows 7 DVD or USB. If you don't have one you can create it, get another pc if the one you are trying to restore can't boot into Windows and download the Windows 7 iso from here: (because official microsoft removed download link for Windows 7 after 2020) NOTE: If you don't know if the PC you're trying to RESTORE has a 32BIT or 64BIT cpu just get the 64BIT ISO, because all Computers from around 2007 come with a 64 BIT CPU. 64 BIT: archive.org/download/win-7-pro-32-64-iso/64-bit/GSP1RMCPRXFRER_EN_DVD.ISO 32 BIT: archive.org/download/win-7-pro-32-64-iso/32-bit/GSP1RMCPRXFRER_EN_DVD.ISO Then after that buy an USB Stick of 8GB or more, you can also use one that you have but only if it is empty because you need an empty USB to store the Windows 7 Installation USB. Plug the USB in the PC that you downloaded the ISO and go to this site: github.com/pbatard/rufus/releases/download/v3.18/rufus-3.18.exe It will download a program to create the Win 7 USB, after it finishes downloading open it. Press Device and select your USB Drive, then press the SELECT button on the Right hand of the program and browse to the location that you downloaded the ISO and select it. In the Partition Scheme menu choose MBR and in Target System menu and choose BIOS Press START in the bottom and let it finish, after it completes unplug the USB and plug it on the broken PC, turn on the pc and as soon as you press the power button spam the ESC key untill you get a prompt on the screen asking to select the device to boot from, when it appears select the USB drive and Windows 7 Installation screen should appear, press "Repair your computer" in the left corner and choose to restore a "System Image" you created before. NOTE: if you backed up only the files and not the System Image then you need to install Windows 7 instead of pressing "Repair your computer", Install it and after installation go to: Control panel -> backup and restore -> Select a backup to restore files from. Hope this helps and have a nice day!

I'm with Pat Dee on this one. I thought I found a good tutorial on how to backup and restore complete system image. I backed up my system before trying some software that didn't work. Now I want to revert to my Windows 7 fresh install without having to go thru the hassle of doing a fresh install. The software I am using is limited to running on widows 7 and older 32 bit architecture. I'll tinker around with my system backup and hopefully figure it out myself, if not then I'll do a fresh install of 7 :/
