@@the_farid i didn't import registry as per video, but NTFS permission was intact and had to do sharing manually.

This was super helpful!!! The regedit export was a huge time saver along with the walk through of the robocopy command switches. Thanks for the help. /SRL

really helpful, would mind to do a video robocoying files into two different domains

Different domain permissions wont work. we need to Re-assign permission.

No one using VMs? Attach the VMDK from the old server to the new server, export/import Shares from the registry. Done! 😊

What about physical box

@@ITPROTeams if in 2024 you’re still using physical boxes for servers, most probably you’re doing IT wrong…

Very good helpful. But copying registry from old server like 2008r2 to copy to svr 2022 will there be impact? Another question If using do namespace on new server will have issue?
@ITPROTeams

No Impact in coping registry value and i dont understand what do you mean by Do Namespace

Hi, I'm thinking to detach the VHD data disk from the old vm and attach it to the new one, I just need the permission scheme, what do you recommend me?
@ITPROTeams
@ITPROTeams Месяц назад
@@andreazalazar8335 best way to perform this action is first export the NTFS permissions from old machine than Detach the disk and attach to new VM and verify if permission not broken if yes than reapply the permission

Sir, End user can access directly with this method or we have to change in GPO's and put the path in logon script?
@ITPROTeams
@ITPROTeams 9 месяцев назад
end user can access the migrated shared folders without any GPO or script but in case you have configured folder redirection in that case new file server path need to update in GPO.

Great video, thanks! One doubt. If its a dfs namespace server having multiple sub folders and folder targets. And we want to move them to a new server. In that case, post installing the roles in the new server, can we move the dfsroots folder from old to new via robocopy? And then export/import the registry? Or if there is any other way pls let me know. Thanks again.
@ITPROTeams
@ITPROTeams 2 месяца назад
In case of DFS you can use dfs replication to replicate the folder you don’t need robocopy.
