Hey brother, i have a 14 year old microtech otf that suffered a mechanical failure resulting in one of the spring brackets breaking. I was given the knife as a gift and therefore do not have any purchase validation. Is there any kind of warrenty or anything i can do to get my knife fixed? I cant afford to buy a new one and the one i have has some sentimental value. Any kind of response would be greatly appreciated!
Really sorry to hear that man, always a pain when a knife breaks but also sad when it was a gift and breaks. I think your best course of action would be to call Microtech customer support and explain the situation to them... I believe sometimes they'll have extra parts from older models that they have lying around. If you make sure to let them know it has sentimental value I think they will be understanding and willing to work with you, they might charge a fee to have it fixed but it'll likely be cheaper than buying a new knife entirely. @@DXSharpening thanks for the suggestions my friend, ill be sure to give that a shot! The piece that broke is one of the latches that hold the tensioned spring on the rail, so it shouldn't be too expensive. Thanks again brother!
