I was working on the same thing as you but instead of MIDI I used my keyboard. Also I use square sinusoids for a 8-bit sound Nothing fancy

golafs I lost it sadly!! However, most of the interesting stuff is shown on screen.

Bit late I know! But it's built using pure data. Most of it is explained in the video. Just map each midi input to a specific pitch on an oscillator.
