My microwave started making a loud humming noise. It still works, just makes a loud noise. It even makes the noise when it's unplugged.

Are all magnetrons standard in power, voltages, watts and ohms, etc., and can be used as replacements in any microwave oven? I'm trying to repair my microwave oven which is just about 2 years old, and the magnetron has stopped working. It's one of those that has a static (hot) plate - not the rotating kind. Can I use a magnetron from a rotating plate microwave oven to repair mine?

Or, your oven may have cheap solid plastic feet that transfer noise on over to the kitchen counter, and thus turn the counter into a speaker. I added a rubber buffer between the oven feet and the counter, and what a difference that made.

amazing; thanks. mine was a squeal; pulled the small drive coupler off and by the noise i knew it was a dry motor shaft. got old faithful out and gave it a small squirt of el fixo and squeak be gone. w-d does it again.. can't be beat; w-d and duct tape!!!!!!!!!!!

Clicking sounds in a microwave are typically heard when you slowly open and close the door. On some models you may here more of a ticking sound from the stirrer blade touching the shield if its bearing is worn. Some turntable models will make clicking or grinding noises when they are worn as well.
