You've created 2 masterpieces, one a dresser, and one a video. Beautiful restoration of what began as as a very iffy piece of furniture. It looks like a showroom piece now! And your videography is fabulous! The palm trees, the sider web, the gecko, the sun dappling, the pup! All of it. Such a pleasure to watch the whole thing.

Nice to see a young man doing furniture restoration, most appear middle aged or older. Quite a few young women joining the restoration team. ❤ your garden is beautiful, reminds me of Australian backyards.
A lot of times mid century pieces are built with multiple species of wood/veneer. The manufacturer tended to have the piece toned for uniformity so it was really out of habit why I stained it.
It's because some magazine like Woman's Day, Family Circle, or Good Housekeeping told them to "refresh your room's look by painting that old wooden chest of drawers or table." They run that every few months, at least twice a year, from the 1920s to today. Probably because slapping on paint is an easier and more startling change than renewing a finish. There used to be more of it in Popular Science Monthly and Popular Mechanics, too. Yes, I read a lot of ooold magazines.
😄 that’s very interesting, I can understand painting a piece of it was beat to hell and is on its way out but it’s becoming pretty trendy because of what you mentioned

It's hard to understand why someone thought it was a good idea to desecrate with white paint, this beautiful piece of furniture! Fortunately you have been able to restore it to perfection. This is a lovely piece of furniture now, but I'm equally impressed with how you've crafted this video. The pacing, the environmental sound, the way you get so many interesting aesthetic angles on something as simple as stripping paint or sanding or spraying lacquer, it's all very engaging. Without any music or voiceover, that is very impressive. Great job all around.

@@diytainment I have mostly used it to remove lacquer or whatever was used with MCM furniture. It is a good product but it never worked as well for me.
Your workshop is incredibly spacious and your coworkers are lovely! The fire in that wood is stunning. Painting over it was simply egregious. It's a handsome piece, and your talent and skill are outstanding. I'm glad this MCM challenge brought me to your channel so I can see more of your work. 😊

😆 We live pretty close to the Everglades, so we’re graced with its wildlife daily. There’s actually a hawk family that basically grew up in the backyard. They're not around much, but one day when we get a good camera lens, we will capture them for you all! 😄

My favorite part amongst so many… is @9:40 I haven’t seen anyone else do this. Meticulously cover the area around a digit or hole in the wood they’re about to fill with a putty or wood filler. This makes so much common sense! Zero wast of the product., non necessary spreading around of the product on undamaged areas , that you then have to go back and try to blend in creating more work & the potential for a large area that no matter what you do can’t be hidden because it will show up under the finish. All around this is a must do for beginners & experienced restorationists alike. And as they say the devil is in the details. Save yourself a heap of time by following his quick example use the painters tape to block off the area into as small an area as possible to then effect a repair. Thanks for showing us this massive time saving trick. ❤

I didn't get the time but the best part is when you sprayed the boards with stripper(?) And it started bubbling up immediately. The shots of the pool are really good too....I'm much cuter with a tan! 😂😅lol!!!! Seriously! First video of yours that I've watched!!! Great work!!!
