I’ll take straight over extra distance. All drivers are at the max for speed so what’s a few more yards if I’m blocked out from hitting the green? I play to a 4 in my early 50’s.
I did yes - on Monday, I uploaded a fitting video and I had a go with it during that. Issue for me with that head was that it spun too much. BUT I have an issue in my swing that causes this, so I always tent to get fitting into lower spin drivers, like the Triple Diamond 😊 I was very surprised that the Ping 10k was so forgiving and relatively low spinning at the same time…
Contemplating the Callaway right now.. Good video, disappointed about you hitting the Ping so badly… surly this is about your fitting mate .. a different shaft possibly? Good numbers on the Callaway…
I was fitted into the ping as well 🤔 I think my issue was tee height causing strike issues. That issue shows it’s head more in the 3rd video 😬 Really enjoyed the Callaway though 👀
Played my G430 MAX 10k today, with my Evenflow 5.5 handcrafted shaft. Awful! Almost 20 yards shorter than my TSi2. No matter what I tried, could get it going at all. Going to try the stock shaft tomorrow, if no good it’s going back. 15 handicapper.
The 10k is simply a legal issue, they can go further but the club would be illegal. Ping got to 9.5k moi 10 years ago, so this years 10k nonsense is just marketing. Agree the Ai Smoke was a more interesting club, I also hit it better than the PING, but mainly because Ping shafts are rubbish. Unfortunately with regulation, drivers are not really getting better, very small refinements year on year, but mostly its brand building and marketing by all the major players. So you are right, to optimise things to the nth degree, get fitted, by a reputable unbiaised fitter.
Yeah for sure! I think manufacturing has obviously reached limits now with the face, hopefully they research turns to increasing forgiveness. This year, they all have done that 😊
What a confusing vid this is. You first start out by saying you’re not a great driver of the golf ball. Then you go on to say you were fitted for a diamond driver and bag a G425 LST model? This sounds like the typical golfer who refuses to play a driver they can play well to have appearances in their bag. The Ping G425 Max is one of the best drivers ever made, but yet you play the LST model and it sounds like you don’t play well with it? And enough already about how loud Ping drivers are. Geeez it’s an outdoor sport, there’s nothing better than crushing a driver down the pipe and that Ping sound is music. It seems like you need a honest driver fitting.
I’m going through a bad patch of driving to be honest, but I’m sure that won’t last forever 😂 On the fitting process, I’ve always been fitted into lower spin models by all fitters 🤔 I don’t think it’s due to my ability 😂 I probably just spin the ball more than normal and therefore need a lower spinning head 🤷🏼♂️
I play a 12 degree G425 Max Stiff flex Ventus 5S shaft. I average 265 to 280 right down the middle most of the time. I think driver fittings are suspect at times. You mentioned you hit the ball all over the club face, so henceforth why not compete with better dispersion numbers? I could bag a LST driver and may get a few more yards, but why would I if I spray it all over the place at times. Good luck brother, hope you find the right big stick👍🇺🇸✊
