I would love to see their science journals if they feel comfortable sharing.

Yes yes yes! I would love to see the journals too. We’ve chosen Berean Builders to be our middle and high school science. My children love it! But I often want more than just answering the questions

If your kids would be okay with it, I think it would be very helpful to see their biology notebook. I like the idea of doing that instead of tests.

That therapy scramble is no joke! 😅 I can totally relate to this, and am in a similar homeschool season in life. Between doctor appointments, therapies, driving my daughter to work, it has been a lot, and definitely thrown a monkey wrench into my school year too. My daughter just got her license last week, so that is a huge blessing! We've also take a math pause with Jamieson so he could work on multiplication. So...right there with you! You are doing a great job.❤ And oh my goodness, Ezra and Ava at the end there- so cute!!😍

So glad that the Lord has lead me to your channel! You are not alone when it comes to crazy homeschooling schedules! I have a 5th grade and preschooler. Along with a now 3 year old that just recently started at a therapy-centered preschool. This change allows for more uninterrupted schooling for my 5th grader.

Just finding your channel now, and it is so amazing to find another special needs homeschool momma. I have two kiddos with ASD and one of those has a brain disorder as well, it’s been hard but also amazing. New subscriber here and thankful for you! :)

You are in good company. New diagnosis meant lots of new therapy every week and testing. Huge curveball. I had to mourn the year that I wanted to have. Lots of books in the car. I needed this video!!! Thank you!

I would love to see a video discussing more of the specifics of how your kids do their science notebooks! I really want our science to have a more CM feel, but haven’t had any good ideas on how to make it happen. Notebooking sounds like such a great option.

Just watched the first 5 minutes and wanted to let you know you’re in good company! Homeschooling mom to 2, 4th grader and special needs kindergartner. I can totally relate to your comment that no 2 weeks or even days look the same. Thank you for being vulnerable and honest!

The February slump is definitely real. This year I am feeling it extra due to also struggling with bad morning sickness.

I do open book tests with my high schooler for science... I LOVE the science journal idea... never thought of that.

Oh! I am planning this biology course for my oldest next year. I think I will take both your suggestions and merge them…open notebook tests. 😊

I had A LOT of "math pauses" with my daughter in those elementary years! I think it's actually pretty normal, and it makes you a GOOD HOMESCHOOL MAMA to recognize it, pause it, and work on it! I did the curriculum math hop for awhile, but then I realized that it wasn't the curriculum.... it was that we needed to pause to work on something longer.

My 10th grader loves the Notgrass World History too! We don't do any extras, like no unit projects or anything, but my son loves it!

Thank you for saying it!! I'm right there with you. 5 kids...ages 5 to 14 and no 2 days look the same. And I've had to relax my expectations of our days bc everyday is different. As Long as we keep moving forward and everyone is happy and healthy, then we're good!

Here are some suggestions for Mariah's math: * Memorize the squares. You can multiply any two numbers of the same parity by subtracting squares. For example, 5×7=6²-1²=35. * Memorize the multiplication table of 5-smooth numbers. This won't help with 35, since 7 is not 5-smooth, but 32×27=864. * Learn some integer sequences. Besides squares, another one that comes up a lot is Fibonacci numbers. * Play Prime Climb. I think there should be a hexadecimal edition (since 257 is prime) but it wouldn't be much use to kids who aren't going to be computer geeks :) When I was a kid, my parents tried to teach me the Trachtenberg method. It didn't stick.

My 7 almost 8 yr. old daughter has had to stop as well when it comes to math. There isn't nothing wrong with it. We just restarted math 2 with TG&TB all over again and I told my self it was okay. She is feeling more confident with her math now. Don't give up because I know exactly what you are going through because you want your child to be above their grade level but, like you said God has a plan for them and he has them where they suppose to be at. Good luck.

My oldest son is autistic too and my youngest is also in OT and Speech, like him. My oldest is in other therapies too. And I have therapy burnout. It’s real lol. We have 7 therapies between everyone in my family! But I have learned to have to go to a basic schedule for school on those days. Thursdays and Fridays are the days we don’t have therapies, so those days are our longer days with more of the hands on stuff (that way the longness isn’t boring). The other days are just more simple.

We accidentally got on a January reset cycle (starting new Curriculum for most subjects) so maybe we will avoid the February slump.
