Hey!!! I’m so ready to chat about journaling supplies. This is going to be a book. Grab a snack and a drink 😂 I decided to plan in my weeks and I started off loving it and by April I was just pushing through. I was over it. So I changed how I used it. It was more of a memory keeper and I instead now use it as a messy planner. Using the uni pen that it comes with, color coding and it’s been amazing since march. Love it so much that I am thinking of getting another next year. My journal is amazing. I call in my authentic self journal and I use it for memory keeping and journaling. Even sketching at times. I have an icon system and I am on my second book of the year. My favorite pen of ALL time is the uni jet stream in 0.5. I’m literally obsessed. I haven’t used anything else and I don’t have any desire to try anything else. I am debating using a different size for my journal next year. Maybe a pocket size instead of the A5 that I am using now. Either way, I’m in love with my system. I didn’t set myself a list of things not to buy, but I am trying to stick to my motto of using what I already have. I loved this video and chat and you!

Totally agree about the Jetstream. I have been a compulsive pen hopper for YEARS but upon discovering the Jetstream in Dec I’ve settled on it and only it. It marries so well with Stalogy paper, Hobonichi paper, Cafe Notes paper, and Moleskine paper- which is basically all I use. I’ve bought several of the multi pens so I can have a pencil on hand when I’m on the go and I change out all the colors to black ink, so if I’m traveling I know I have plenty of ink on hand. Pen peace. (Let’s just not talk about planner peace… ok? 😄)

Okay I totally grabbed a cider and dove in… LOL. (Stem Cider all the way in case you were interested). :) PS: One day I have visions of us drinking cider together underneath a big tree while we sketch nature together!! Anyhow:: I love all the things you mentioned and your authentic self journal has me wooed like whoa!! And the Hobonichi pen hooked me from the start to all things jetstream. I think I’ve associated the pen with the paper though.. so I’m missing my hobo.

For my 5-year journal, I try to answer some questions that have positive effects on mental health: 1. What was good today? 2. What did I learn today? 3. Did I help someone? How? I can include sad events if they'll probably have long-lasting impacts or meaning to me (like death dates). But I prefer to stay on the positive side as much as I can.

I never thought to ask specific questions. This is brilliant!!! Thank you so much for sharing!!!

I record anything notable in the day in my 5 year Lines per day. I do it daily in the morning. Might include weather, travel, activities etc. I love going back thru them. I’m on second one now.

Maybe I should try morning. I’m much more “open and aware” than in the evenings when all the days stories have molded me. Never thought to do it in the morning. Mmmmm might be life changing!!

My 5 year routine... well it sounds like yours lol. I abandon it for 2 to 3 months. Go back and binge fill based off my planner and call it a day. I'd also like to get better about it but we'll see. I feel like hindsight helps me pick out the special moments. I look back through my planner for that day and think oh yeah that was fun. If I don't have anything for that day I'll usually add in something I'm loving, like a food we're eating a lot during that time or lyrics to a song I've had on repeat. I also like to add a photo here and there to look back on. Or a wish for the future that I'm currently excited about. Always look forward to hearing your updates. Planner release time can be super dangerous 😆. The hobonichi always sucks me in and then I'm like oh yeah this doesn't work for me and how I plan. 🙃🤪 but yet I still get one every year.

You are so sweet!! I’m curious if you add art to your 5 year? I’m debating. But I just started sketching. Hmmmm… Also.. planner time just like back to school.. can’t help myself. It’s a joy. “Treat yo self” time right?!! Can’t wait to see what you will be picking for next year!

I use my 5 year journal to document the “mundane” things. I’ll maybe hit down the highs and low temps of the day and use it to jot about boring things. “Work was slow. Met Tory for milkshakes after dinner” or “was sick today. Megan brought dinner for us” I think of it more as something for the future. What was the daily grind like? I think of it as more useful for the future generations looking back on our lives and habits today. Memory keeping and rambles go in my daily journal. It’s actually been fun as I come across previous years entries and am reminded of something I had forgotten about and would have been gone forever if I hadn’t jotted down this silly little thing that happened.

Love these ideas and the daily mundanes (that are actually the real magic!)

Earlier this year I seriously thought I was going to get a Leuchtthurm 5 year journal starting in 2023. I've been daily journaling in a planner since 2016 and I was unhappy with it. Mostly because of the extra stuff in a planner I was not using (I had an EC softbound). I like utility, and feeling like a chunk of it is going to waste drives me nuts. So a month and a half ago, I started daily journaling in my bullet journal! Now I've decided to start doing set ups there on a quarterly basis instead of monthly. So all my journaling July-Sept will be together, and I'm not guessing how many pages I need as often between set ups. I'm excited to see where this goes, esp in the bujo because I'm painfully consistent with that thing and yet, it is still ever evolving. It's so nice. Love this update! Thanks for sharing!

I've struggled with the "content" and consistency issues with the 5 year journal as well. But I think I've settled on whatever feels the most important to ME on that day. I just wish I didn't forget to fill it in.
@heathermattern
@heathermattern 2 года назад
YES that is my issue too. I forget and forget and then I’m looking back months later. Maybe I need to prioritize this as a habit since I really don’t do typical “memory keeping” hmmmm.

Maybe choose some pictures from your phone to print small and glue in from each ,both and write a few bits not trying to get each week. Or f it and start where you are. Let ot be blank in those days and roll with it from here

What’s the difference between your study book and your mindset journal? Do you write about different things in them?

My study book is where I keep all my studies and notes on the things I’m researching, reading, playing with etc. my Morning Mindset journal is for my morning ramblings.
