Maybe try doing this with your back against the wall first. I’ve found that already to be a big stretch for someone like me without any mobility. Then when you get better do what this instructor is showing to go deeper. Really tight and weak lower back makes a lot of these kinds of stretches or even resting positions hard.

This takes time!!! You can't just go fully against the wall right away do this multiple times a day, go a little further every day. Take your time!

I wish I could answer that. There are a lot of variables. The natural elasticity of your muscles, how often you practice, how you warm up, etc. Some people can get it the first time they try. Some takes weeks or months or years. Just be patient and persistent with the process and don’t do anything that will hurt you.

This actually worked. I needed this cuz i have rollerblades and im practicing splits cuz my sisters do it and im like.. “DUDE- HOW?!” And they said this video helped. Tyy!

Hii how long does this take because I'm not flexible WHATSOEVER and I actually cried so much because of seeing so many people do the splits and I'm struggling, it would help if u can tell me how many days I should practice for

Sweetie, first of all, don't worry what other people can do! I PROMISE there are things you can do that they can't! This isn't about them, it's about you. 🤗 Second, flexibility takes different time for everyone, so I can't tell you how long it will take. But here are a few tips to help: 1. Watch the full tutorial, not just the Short: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QGsfsmqs3p4.html (it will teach you more!) 2. Only practice splits when your hips and legs are warmed up/already did some exercise. You don't really want to practice these cold. 3. Practice as regularly as possible. Every day, if that works for you. 4. Never go to a point that hurts. If it hurts, you went too far. Stay safe! When you do all these things, the splits will come! ♥ and let me know when they do! 🙌

😅 I know finding a wall without furniture or anything on it is hard! I am lucky to have an empty room as my yoga studio! Maybe you have a long (and low-sitting) couch that can secure your feet..?

Passive stretching like this is not very productive. It also stresses the knees.

You can find studies for or against any kind of stretching. There isn’t much consensus on this. MovementsbyDavid explained this better while also citing sources just to convey the point.

Yes 👍 there are multiple names for it. In yoga, we actually call it upavistha konasana. Basically a wide angle pose.

The point of this video isn't to go all the way to the wall. The point is to use the wall so your feet don't slide in and then use that to go as far as your body can safely go. Make sure you are warmed up before doing deep stretches and if you do them regularly, the flexibility will come! :)

Make sure to practice when your muscles are warm for maximum efficiency. And, no, you do not want to tolerate pain. Respect your edges but always push against them.

It actually does work. The point of the hack is to hold your feet in place, so you can get maximum depth in your hack. To that extent, it actually works for everyone. But you can only go as deep as your body can go. This hack will enhance your flexibility, but it's up to you to do the necessary work to create the flexibility. There is no magic wand that will get you into full splits. Only consistent work and time will. Yoga middle splits are done in the middle of the room. Using a wall provides resistance so the feet can stay wide as you move your body forward. Otherwise, the feet will (for most people) slide forward and not reach maximum depth.

@@YOGAthletica a "hack" is supposed to provide a shortcut for achieving a goal. What you've demonstrated will take someone about three years to reach a full middle split. This isn't a hack. It's a waste of time

I have been teaching for 22 years and can tell you from experience that having the resistance of the wall helps people to go deeper, faster into their split. There is no magic bullet for flexibility--too many variables--but this is a hack that makes progress easier and faster. If it takes someone three years, it would have taken four without the wall. But for many who have a dedicated practice, using the wall can get them in within a matter of weeks or months.

Sorry to hear that...you have to be sensitive to your edges and never push past them. Ultimately, we all have different bodies and only we can feel how far we can safely go. You never want to do anything that hurts. I start far from the wall, because that is where some people need to be. Over time and with patience, you get closer to the wall and deeper into the split...

I'm sure you mean that in the nicest possible way 👵 I am 52 and never try to hide it. There are some things you can control in life, like how hard you work and how dedicated you are to your goals. And there are some that you can't...like how old you are. I'm darn blessed to be 52 and still able to do things that most 25 year olds can't.

This is absolutely dangerous way to do middle splits,not everyone got their spilts at one day,it can take days,months and even years, depends on your body,and flexibility level,start slow, follow a tutorial video regularly, you'll achieve your goals 🏅✨

I never say that it is something you would get in a day. In fact, in the description, I say specifically to take it slowly and be patient with the process. But this progression is absolutely 100% safe because it assumes that people know to be sensitive enough with their own bodies to stay as wide with their legs as they need to and work at their own pace. The depth comes with time and practice, but the strategy is the same.

yes...and no... this drill is completely scalable and ANYONE can do it to his or her own edge. you don't have to go all the way to wall for this drill to work. you can start as far away as feels right and over time, it gets easier and deeper. :)
