How does low pressure equal greater GPM? I don't really understand the science behind it, I would think greater PSI equals more force which means more gallonage
I also didn’t understand this! The best analogy given to me was a garden hose and putting your thumb on it, you are getting better reach but lower volume. That kinna clicked with me.
Switching to the low pressure setting increases the nozzles orifice just like switching a selectable flow nozzle to a higher flow setting. Higher flow means lower pump discharge pressure and higher friction loss in the hoseline which results in lower nozzle pressure. For example a fire hose without a nozzle attached to it will have maximum flow but no pressure.
