Let's say hypothetically, I just got a Morningstar ML10X to rig up to my first midi controller, my MC3. And, just hypothetically, let's say I just happen to look up your videos on parallel signal chains and find that you recently posted a vid on midi! Perfect.
Sorry, Grant one last item, although I rewatched/skipped through all the Goodwood midi series videos I can’t find the one where you verify a midi message by what I assume is a separate MIDI Monitoring app…the lead in comment is “…that have connected through my Scarlet…” I didn’t see that the Scarlets have any kind of midi monitoring built in (or do they?) so I’d appreciate a real brief reply describing your DI to DAW setup where you are monitoring the MIDI messages real-time on screen. The Scarlett doesn't have any midi monitoring, but if your using an interface (like a scarlett) you can use a midi monitoring app on your computer via the scarlett since midi monitoring typically requires a send and return for midi (midi in/out to be connected). A free midi monitoring app is called "Midi Monitor" (great name).
Hi Grant, I’ve been enjoying these vids since I have both a PBC6/x and 10, I get the midi organizing what I don’t understand is how a midi chain of pedals is connected or audio chained on a pedal board and how a midi pedal or pedals might be reorganized using the 6X pedal order function. I’ve seen vids that say okay you don’t need to use a loop for a pedal since it’s “midi”. Perhaps you could do a vid that explains the audio chain on a midi and analog integrated board. Best George E! @@GoodwoodAudio Pretty spot on Grant. I mean we have a chain of midi controlled pedals how are they integrated into a PBC (or other switcher); by tying each of the midi pedals to its own loop (that seems inefficient! but would allow the 6X to order) or by taking the entire midi chain, organized by signal path of preference, and inserting that into one of the controllers inputs or a loop? Then use controller midi to turn the midi pedals off, on, send PCs, CCs, apply expression, buffers & whatever, and loop functions to add subtract analog pedals etc. (Oh yeah I have the very wicked EHX Ravish Sitar pedal Dave modded with the Chech MIDI controller). BTW you’re up early in Vancouver!

Hello Grant, so correct me if I’m wrong but did I understand that you don’t need to add your midi pedals into a loop? Or is this just an example for this video only?
You can, but you don't need to, no. You can control the same things (in just about every midi pedal) that a loop will give you (bypass and engage being the main one, often true bypass access as well if the midi pedal has multiple bypass options). An easy way to save a loop... connect midi pedals to midi and put non-midi pedals in the loops.
I had no idea the expression to midi feature! Does that mean, you can create a page (ie Similar to a loops page) where you can click a button and toggle certain settings for a given preset? For example, one button to change delay mix, then hit another to change gain on a drive?
@@GoodwoodAudio , so Grant, extrapolating from that simple question of @test: I take it that short of adding one of your partners Imp EXP circuits, there is no way to use a MIDI interface such as a Disaster Area, run a 1/4” TRS cable to say, the Gamechanger Light Pedal’s EXP jack and use the PBCs Midi patch to control expression? I think I know the answer but I’d appreciate your input.
Hello, I've always wondered, is it possible to convert a non-midi pedal into a midi pedal? Example: I have a Moore Preamp Model X X2. It fully digital, has 7 banks of 2 presets (14 presets total), but no midi built in. I have a multi effect that has midi capability and I would like to integrate the two so that when I do a preset change on the mfx pedal it can change the amp preset on the Moore. Is that something that's possible? Hopefully that makes sense
possibly...it can be pretty difficult and always has limitations when modding after the fact... It's not something we can do but check with Oscillator Devices!
