Cleveland Ohio here. One of the few cities in the USA that embraced SAHB. Saw them in there first appearance in US here in Cleveland at the Agora. WMMS also simulcast the show on the radio. They should be in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame
Man, that must have been incredible! I always wondered how they would fare in the US as Alex was never likely to tone down his stage act, which was VERY Scottish, for sure. I have a couple of bootlegs and you can hear that some of the audience must have been saying "what the hell is this?!". I see that Zal is currently selling his 1972 Marshall head, that he used on all the albums. My wife has said I'm not allowed to own it. Boo!
Yeh, that complete show from the Cleveland Agora is on the 2CD 'US Tour 74' by The Sensational Alex Harvey Band (MLP14CD) along with another live set from Dallas on the same tour and both contain live versions of 'Midnight Moses'
Because I was a Mustard/Tear Gas fan from way back...Alistair...ZAL C. stood out like a crazy guy that just had it going....Here I am from the Electric Gardens era in Glasgow of the early 70's revisiting SAHB, and....Zal..great lesson on how this was laid down....BTW, I'm 70 now. The Glasgow/Scotland music scene never dies...I left Glasgow in 1978..Vancouver since then...These guys were my youth...Never forgotten
Thank you for checking it out - I wasn’t lucky enough to see SAHB live, but I’ve always loved them. Zal is a guitar genius. Anthem could bring a tear tae a glees ee, as ma dad would have said!
Another awesome sharing of your helpful and informative video my good friend!! Thanks for the lesson!! Full support and full watched with Dad!! Much love Kyle!! 😊🥁🇵🇭
Never heard of that Band but the first thing that came to mind, while reading the Title of the Video, was... what a Killer Name. Midnight Moses. Cool Idea for a Name :)
bought that album way back in the day and it was hardly off the turntable - especially that song. Isobel Goudie is another wonderful track on that album. great guitar tone - Zal is another reason i bought a Gibson SG Standard. great lesson thanks man :)
Once again I never heard of the band !! and it's your favorit guitar player , i felt like i 've missed everything when i heard that buddy !! The way you explain is great , with you editing skilled it makes a perfect lesson , and of course your playing , what i really like is that you explain the rythm beats and all , playing on place is so important !! Well , i talk too much again , man , i followed with the guitar in hand , and i did not miss a note , you are really showing well !!!
Thanks to Spotify, I have just been reintroduced to SAHB and this is my fave tune. Cheers for the lesson Dunsy. Could’ve have come at a better time for me and I’ll be wearing my fret fingers to the bone learning this one. 😎🇨🇦🎸🏴
He seems to have used both P90 Special and Standards with humbuckers during the SAHB years (and the 3 pickup Custom in the thumbnail to this video). There was also a non reverse Firebird, which looks like it has P90’s. A truly brilliant guitar player.
