What a fantastically strange movie! Loved it for all sorts of reasons including its "anthropological" interest -- in unwittingly documenting the mindset of a very strange tribe indeed at a particular moment in time when the "phrenological" approach to determining criminal character was still considered a cutting-edge science. My favorite line in the movie so far: "Shut up! I'll take charge of this. If I don't find the killer in ten minutes I'll subject everyone in this room to an interrogation that will make the third degree look like a petting party!" Also, "Calm down. This crime must be solved scientifically" to which the reply was "Science can go take a jump at itself!"

Reginald Denny conceived , designed, and built the first radio controlled military drone aircraft. It was at his Radioplane manufacturing plant that young Norma Jean Dougherty (AKA Marilyn Monroe) had her first published photo session when Denny's friend Ronald Reagan, then a Lieutenant of the United States Army Air Forces (public relations) 1st Motion Picture Unit, sent a Yank Magazine photographer to Radioplane for a story in 1944. www.historynet.com/drones-hollywood-connection.htm aviationoiloutlet.com/blog/marilyn-monroe-radioplane/

At 10:15 "Inspector Silverstein" is about 2 steps away from breaking into a vaudeville routine. He apparently thought better of it. PS The strangest thing about this film is that it turns into a whodunit with only 12 minutes remaining! at 46:10 Reginald Denny flubs his line. Not to be outdone, Lloyd Hughes flubs his at 52:59. Retakes schmetakes!
