For me, this is the greatest Live performance of a song ever. The way it starts out rough like a practice session, then it builds, and builds, the break in the middle, then the last segment when they hammer it home. For ME....this is the best single Rock and Roll Song EVER! I want it played at my funeral or execution whatever comes first.
Absolutely. The guitar work between Keith and Mick Taylor is legendary…genius, especially in the breakdown…incredible Blues-Rock guitar playing. It’s one of the greatest live Rock recordings EVER.
En realidad nunca más, Taylor y Richards lograron tener este desenvolvimiento en las guitarras, las otras versiones en vivo o de estudio se escuchan con un nivel mediano. Excelente acoplamiento.
Ed Preston knows what he’s talking about. I’ve played this song live several times and it’s nothing short of a rock n roll religious experience. Long Live the greatest Rock n Roll band ever!!!
It's not entirely a live album. Jagger and Richards dubbed most of their singing/playing, with the exception of Love in Vain. Taylor was "a one take guy". Everything he played on Ya ya's is original, just like Charlie and Bill.
@@007zz it has been called “the most overdubbed live album” over the years… and could explain my disappointment on seeing the Stones some time after its release - they were nowhere near as good as they sounded on Ya Yas!
I am about to be 67 year in a couple of days, and I still love this record. The Stones never did this tracks better after this recording. And I agree, this is the best liverecord ever....
Hey, I just turned 65 3/30/2022! "Exile On Main Street" was , 2 me, actually their best albums. Had this album when I just turned 15 yrs. old 3/30/1972. What yrs. Did this come out? It's damn good.
This was the greatest recording of their entire career, and that is saying something. "Sympathy for the Devil" and "Street Fighting Man" in this concert were almost as great as this one. The band would never again be this great. This was recorded just days before the Altamont disaster.
@@Trev0r98 Sorry have to disagree. Taylor just shines here as always - but so does Keef and especially in how he handles the rhythm riff(s) - constant spot on micro-variations in timing and other subtle changes.
Mick Taylor's picking is amazing. This is, by far, my favorite Stones song, and this is a fabulous album, as well. Taylor's solo starting at 8:08 is the pinnacle of awesomeness.
Those licks from 7:45 to 8:15 that Taylor plays are sublime- nothing complex but simply jaw dropping how much higher they take this song. Which was already a moment each band member probably looked up at each other and was like ' these instruments are fucking playing themselves '. Since I first heard this 37 years ago it is still making the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Pure energy out of thin air.
To me, his guitar evokes the mind of the rambler having an argument with himself in whether to do the crime. It goes back and forth until resolving with “yes, let’s do this!”
One of the most underappreciated musicians ever. Not underappreciated within the band though, those guys revere him. Him and Bill Wyman could make a group of 5 year olds sound amazing.
It was not only the great playing on this-but crucially as well the more powerful AMPS that emerged during that period that launched this song into legendary status.
this album is 50 yrs old and still sounds fantastic. Catches the Stones when they were flying. My God ! Tight. This is how they got the tag The greatest rock and roll band etc. Mic Taylor k and Keef utterly brilliant, Charlie and Bill holding it all together and the best vocal performance from Mick. What more do you need ? How can 144 people not like this ? Check out the rythmn changes on Midnight Rambler and Sympathy is just so funky . I remember Who live at Leeds was always considered superior by a lot of people but I don't reckon that has travelled as well as this Stones time capsule. Thanks for the music boys, soundtrack of our lives
Esta rola pasan y pasan los años y no deja de hacer que el corazón se exite y el alma de rocker te haga sentir igual de joven y vital que cuando la escuchaste x primera ves. Saludos desde tierra santa (Guadalajara Jalisco México)
Saw The Stones at the Meadowlands in NJ last night. It was my first time seeing them live. Midnight Rambler, for me, was the hit of a fabulous performance. They brought it down to a whisper and the Keith and Ron brought it back up with ferocious drive and energy. Mick wasn't too shabby either. LOL! Just sorry that it took me 60 years to finally see "The Greatest Rock and Roll Band in the WORLD!!
@Arpad Jones yes, keith usually starts and sets tempo, then charlie takes over and wyman follows them both masterfully. I like when on some videos keef will be going for a tempo adjustment and jump up on the drum riser right in charlies face until charlie grins and complies. Epic chemistry........
Scott Trevathan ...Ten Years After at the Fillmore 70', Band of Gypsys at the Fillmore 70', any Led Zeppelin bootleg performance from their Europe tour of 73', Derek and the Dominoes at the Fillmore 70'.
The Allman Brothers at the Fillmore East takes that title, but I will agree that this track is probably the best live performance of a song ever recorded. This is an utter masterpiece with the Stone's at their absolute peak.
I'm 60 and have been going to concerts since teen years. I saw the Stones 30+ years ago and "timed" this song and they were within 5 seconds of Ya Ya's. No exaggeration (maybe caught them on a great night) but they basically did this Album live and hit virtually every note and it was the greatest concert I've personally seen. No lie, greatest Rock 'n Roll band in the World! Un frickin' believable night and I was sober...
randy95023 I was 14 in 69 rode the train from DC to mad sq caught the show, trained back to DC went to school that morning. Convenience was better then
Charlie is the R&R GOAT drummer. Low key AF classic demeanor and created so many of the album art. The man was an artist in so many ways and may he RIP.
Almost 50% that Keith and Jagger played on Yaya's has been over dubbed, with the exemption of love in Vain. Taylor, Wyman and Watts did the live take. Yaya's is half a studio album, but a very good one.
David South l was married for five years by then David. Sadly my rockin days were some what reduced by then, but as all old rock n rollers, the love for great music never dies.
@@pickolascage1283 in 1968: The beatles with white album: hard rock, proto punk, blues, country, folk, proto metal, experimental, classical and ballad. The rolling stones with beggars banquet: Blues, country, blues, country, blues, country, rock n roll, blues and country.
this was one of if not the best live album they ever put out. This was like the first album I got along with the Woodstock album back in around 1968 or so. This is the absolute best version of Midnight Rambler that they ever did. It really kicks ass at the end of the song. Just when you think it's over, it builds back up and rocks.
+Dave Welch I agree. A truly great live album. As good as this version is though, I saw them play a better version at Wembley Arena in 1973. It was one of those shows that had the magic that only happens on very rare occasions. That night they played this and it just blew the roof off, it was an incendiary performance of such satanic majesty that simply defies description. I saw them many times but that night had the real rock and roll voodoo. Now I'm older I'm just glad I was there.
Megusta mucho esta rola de rock pesado siempre la oigo 5 veses y la bailo no pasan de moda y rompe todas las barreras del tiempo viva el ROCK PESADO Ayer HOY y mañana ok 👍👍👍🤟🤟👌👌👌
I was first interested in Rock Music in about 1965. I remember being away at camp when "Satisfaction" first aired on Radio. I was an instant Stones fan and a Rock 'n Roll guy for Life. When I finally saw the Stones I felt like I knew the guys as old friends. Midnight Rambler may honestly be the greatest song I've heard live in concert and I've been to a LOT of concerts in the last 45 years. Music is art and to use words like "best" is subjective. Art is in the ear of the beholder...
every chord is fantastic and enjoyable since I heard this album on june 1973 I remember riding a donkey rounding a 33 long play record in Guanajuato, San Luis de la Paz, México. In a a eight battery sound player stereo with a diamond reader record disc.
The Stones was one of the best shows I've ever seen...and I've seen hundreds, but my girlfriend and I grooved like something supernatural; we were speechless moving to the notes moving from one melody to another. What an experience!!!
I have listened to this album for nearly 40yrs now.I learned how to play guitar by playing along with it. It is the best live album I have ever heard. The Stones at their peak. The versions of Love in Vain and Rambler in particular are among the best music that the Stones ever recorded.
gotta admit people this album as little known or at least heralded, was to me the STONES at their finest with Mick Taylor not missing a lick and even Keith was on that night with Jagger's voice in great shape and as he said "Charlies Good Tonite" Also my hats off to whomever did the mix that nite cause as live albums go . . . they're a bitch to keep the mix balanced with the lead rides and solos with great presence !! Love this version of the Stones Thanx for sharing it !
True so true doin his chicken dance ha to funny I go to collier county choppers weekends this only kind music u will hear to great old music only and on point on all of them old guys in band not old what did I say shame our age ha
There are only two Rolling Stones left, one of them dies and that's where their legacy remained. Like any human being, we all go there, sooner or later. And new generations will come and listen, not only to them, but to a whole generation that contributed musical gems.
This Is The Stones In There Prime & Bringing In Mick Taylor He Gave Them A New Sound Love This Era My Parents Was At This Show They Also Met Jimi Hendrix He Was Hanging Out With Them Backstage Jamming With Taylor This Album Brings Back Some Great Memories Thank You For Upload
