+Mario Quade Sorry, that's my bad, it was just a poorly told joke at the beginning of the movie. It's not actually #1 anywhere. I was trying to make a "maybe it's #1 in ______" type banter.
Stoned Gremlin Productions Good to know, I was really surprised about that and first google results only showed me the box office records up until last Friday.
I can't wait until Hollywood remakes Jaws. The shark will be completely cgi and voiced by Frank Welker. Of course Hayden Christensen will play Brody and I can already picture Vin Diesel as Quint. And let's not forget Richard Dreyfuss as the mayor. It's gonna be amazing!
I remember when I first saw the trailer I thought, "Wow, that looks like a 90s movie with all the extreme sports stuff." I did not know it how close to the truth I was.
Every five years they talk about remaking Metropolis, and the talks disappear after six months. I think the Producer from Grizzly 2 was once pushing for it
+Murcia doxial And TRUE GRIT was meant to be focusing on being faithful to the original novel, not redoing the previous movie. I think the Coens have even said they haven't seen the John Wayne version, but I could be wrong.
More people have seen this video than watched the actual movie. Besides Canada apparently. I totally forgot it came out until I saw it at the video store a few months later.
A correction to the Fast & Furious Canon: Brian (Paul Walker) is not a police officer in the second movie but he is recruited by law enforcement (Eva Mendez) because of his driving and law enforcement experience. Somehow he became an FBI agent by the fourth movie and gives it up at the end to free Vin Diesel.
I was very tired after a long two days of organizing Christmas parties for work that when I was finally done, my brother offered to go see a movie just for the lulz. I specifically said I wanted something good or laughably bad. And Point Break failed to be either of those. The stunts looked good and had me wondering how much of it was CGI and how much was actual stunt work. But the story and characters...meh. Also this always bugged me. The Ending. 1991 - Bohdi tried to kill Utah and held his lover hostage. Why the fuck would he let him go after that? 2015 - Utah was really okay with letting Bohdi escape, really. So why the fuck did he even bother trying to bring him in?
I imagine a studio boss is breathing down the necks of some underlings, "WE NEED TO WORK ON A FILM-NOW!" and most times they're all too lazy to put in effort on finding an actual interesting film to develop so they keep going back to a white board with "POINT BREAK" written on it until they actually came up with this film. I was watching Hot Fuzz a couple days ago. I bet the references that film made to the first Point Break was a better adaptation than the film you guys had to watch. LOL
Honestly (i think my expectations were so low) the trailer didn't look THAT bad. It looks visually stunning but the characters don't look interesting to me. I laughed in theaters when the trailer showed them jump off that big cliff. The original was fun!
Someone bring Swazye back from the dead, make a movie where he and Keanu Reeves are Black Ops. agents, Swayze being like Harry Tasker (Arnold Schwarzenegger's character from "True Lies") and Reeves being like "Dirty Harry" Callahan, and have them face-off against a team of terrorists led by Édgar Ramírez and Luke Bracey as his right hand man.
Luke Bracey appears to have picked up the powers of sucking charisma that Channing Tatum once possessed. Don't worry, Luke, only six or so more years before you find your 21 JUMP STREET! And really, 100 million dollars on this shit (which just opened at No. 8 at the box office, BTW)? Warner Bros. is taking it up the ass this year.
My best friend lives in the DC area and he said for a few days now it's been raining on and off. It's his first winter out there and he says his neighbors find that kind of weather uncommon this time of year.
Disgusting. I actually never saw Point Break until just like a month ago. It's not bad! It looks gorgeous, Keanu's bad-ass, most characters are kinda bat-shit in a good way and the music's good. Speaking of which, soothe your wounds after this thing with this bad-ass cover of that theme song. This is the most 1991 thing I've heard since 1991. /watch?v=s5IVncHFBXo
+Uncle Fester Don't forget Ehren Kruger (the Transformers sequels and Scream 3) and the troublesome due of Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman (the new Star Trek films, the Amazing Spider-Man movies, but some shit I like including The Island and Now You See Me). As a wannabe screenwriter who is both a Transformers and Marvel fan, these guy's lack of writing skills is disgusting to me.
UncleSam2028 Yeah, but he's done some good shit. The Blade trilogy (including the shitty third film), and Batman Begins (the only of the Nolan batman he actually wrote parts of), but then he hasn't, like Jumper, Man Of Steel, and Ghost Rider 2. His writing skills seem to change between good and bad quit a bit, but I didn't think he was close to as bad as the hacks I listed. Also, he actually used to read comics, so I have to give him some credit there.
From most of the reviews I've seen for this remake basically say this movie is all style and no substance and completely unnecessary. The stunts are good but the characters have no chemistry and the story sucks. I'll probably only watch this if it's on Netflix and I have nothing to do on a Sunday afternoon. The original movie is a classic and didn't need to get remade. Maybe a sequel would of worked with Keanu Reeves returning. As Brad said no one wanted this.
The list of unnecessary remakes of better movies continues for Hollywood's lack of originality. Maybe they should remake bad Canon films. Yes, a remake of a generic revenge of the vigilante movie would be good. Not. They said the title in the movie? That is so lame.
The only movie that i've ever wanted to remade is Johnny Mnemonic. The old movie is almost good. The concept and art direction was almost amazing. Fuck remaking all these "classic" movies that aren't needed. but for real, JOHNNY MNEMONIC can definitely be made again and actually be upgraded. and not with Keanu. He really isn't that good of an actor. He does make a good Ted though from the Excellent Adventure though.
The argument about con air being the perfect movie is lost based on the original point break. Out of principle I will never watch this pile of shit. Haha. This was always going to flop. The idea of a sequel with Keanu and even throwing in jake busey as his new partner. I'd buy that.
