The Hibino has ALWAYS had Tomoe River Paper. It’s stated on its website. Also interesting fact, it only says Tomoe River. Not “S”, so it could in fact still be using their supply of old TR.

I just came acros this vid and tried the smudge test on the current (S) Cousin paper and it doesn't work either. So I suspect that this Hibino already had the "new" paper, which -at least to me - feels vastly different than the old and also reacts completely differently.

It could be both a paper thing and an ink thing. The Uniball reminds me of Noodler's Black ink; there's a sort of oiliness or lubricant, I think. On the same paper of my Morning Pages journal (AHGXG Lined Journal Notebook), I have to use a blotter with both those inks, but Diamine Oxford Blue dries immediately. LOVE seeing your sweet pups, Vicky!

Thank you so much for this video. What color is the stitching on your Apple pig? Is it the one Ting suggests? I believe for Duke duck that is a dark brown, the T4? I am ready to order but having a hard time deciding stitching color…:)

Sadly, the manufacturer terminated production of a bunch of paper types including Cosmo Air Light and won't be making anymore after March 2023. As far as I know, the Hibino is the new Sanzen Tomoe River which is what the Hobonichi will be using starting in 2024.

Is it really?!? I think I got one of those samples from the hobonichi and I need to test it out and see… I think it will be a disappointment if this is true!

I just stumbled across your video because I have ordered a Hibino for 2025. I suspected, that in your planner there was already the "new" Tomoe River paper - the Sanzen. I just tried the smudge test in my current 2024 Hobonichi cousin (the now also use S) and it doesn't work either. So, I think that (aside from the old TRP and the "new" really feelling different) it's safe to say that they also act different and that the Hibino probably already had the "new" one.
