Looking back at these performances I really wonder why "they" categorically say that Midori is "not artistic" ... there's nothing "un-artistic" about her skating and she probably has a lot of transition and high quality spin for that era! Her jumps, obviously, were even better than all but a couple of men (even that is debatable) .....
It's tragic. Her artistry was always there. She delivered sensational programs that drew the loudest applause and yet at the Olympics she received a 5.5 for artistry.... Midori would have won the bronze in the men's event that's how good she was even with mistakes. If she skated clean, she probably would have won the men's event.
