The castle at Celle, Germany, was known as "the little Versailles of Germany" because it was an outpost of French high cutlure where performers and teachers of music and dance at French courts.were.brought to demonstrate their arts and teach German nobles. It was at Celle that Johan Sebastian Bach flourished as prodigious violinist before he went on to be widely recognized as an organist and as the composer who integrated French, Italian, and German musical traditions.
Absolutely fabulous. One of the greatest pieces of music ever composed for a single instrument, sublimely performed by one of the greatest violinists ever. Simply superb.
I play Chaconne arranged for the classical guitar, but I have never felt as so solemnly as Midori plays. The chords played by the Midori are like the autumn leaves flying from the sky, and the colors seem to change indefinitely and Invited by a very sacred feeling. When men play Bach, the string pressure becomes much stronger, but it is much better to play Bach lightly like Midori. I am amazed at the solemn music by listning her sound.
I had a chance to stay during her practice session with other musicians. They really put me to shame when I heard them play just one line of the piece over again and again and again, perhaps around 20 times or more until they got the perfect idea out of the score!!!!! Inspiration!!!!!!
Fabulosa Midori!
its weird. watching her do Zapateado back in 1990 she seemed almost superhuman beside her violin. Here she seems almost swallowed up by it. I wonder why it feels that way. The boundless energy of youth i suppose
¡Bravo maestra Midori, saludos! ¡Su trabajo es bello!
Love the performance. Sound, phrasing, interpretation all beautiful. But why does Midori often play with the scroll of the violin pointed at the floor? It doesn’t seem to affect her sound - it’s flawless, but just seems like such an odd technique.
The only thing i know from Mr. Goto is 1,49 cm Violinbeast, so i think a 3/4 violin would also do a better job than this 4/4? GIRL, 14, CONQUERS TANGLEWOOD WITH 3 VIOLINS www.nytimes.com/1986/07/28/arts/girl-14-conquers-tanglewood-with-3-violins.html To this time 1986 Mr. Bernstein! himself did her give a chance to play his tracks as a composer. Since this time all classic fans in the world know she...
That would be the same with Anna Netrebko. Sorry, but: What pervert would ask for "more flaws"? I rather think she finds the right way of "withheld drama" to show the double impact this music has on a person: It is so beautiful that it will make you cry. "Soli Deo Gloria" is what Bach always noted on his compositions. What you hear is a prayer to (and very personal dialogue with) God, from both - Bach and Midori.
As regards "modern interpretation", her complete recording of Bach S & P is perhaps the best I've ever heard. As regards "authentic interpretation", I prefer Amandine Beyer.
Michael Brotherton the Bach sonatas and partitas are all about proving the violin is a polyphonic instrument. An amazing violinist can play both the solo line and accompaniment line. A piano accompaniment is totally contrary to the ambition of these pieces.
