Helllooo everybody and come along for the ride as I birth the Marquette Golden Eagles program on NCAA 14.
In this episode, we go a bit off script and take a break from gameplay as we dive into a Year 5 Marquette Midseason Report. Due to technical difficulties a couple of episodes back, the end was unfortunately cut off so we missed out on a recruiting update and a new look around the college football landscape. Thus, an entire episode will be dedicated to make up for that shortcoming.
We'll start with a look at the recruiting board which has since seen some fresh faces added while Marquette has also reeled in their first five signings of Year 5. This recruiting class now appears to be taking shape for Marquette, although their top priorities #10 TE Tyson Williams and #27 ATH Steven Goodman seem to be far from ready to commit and their recruitment may each trickle into the offseason.
Then we'll bounce around the nation and start with a look at the Top 25 which has seen MAJOR turnover since our last look. There is now a new #1 team after the Ohio State Buckeyes were upset at The Horseshoe by Purdue, marking just the second loss for the Buckeyes throughout this series. Other top teams to fall in the past couple of weeks include #2 Virginia Tech and #3 Army.
The Heisman Watch is being dominated by running backs this season, currently led by James White as Ezekiel Elliott and Altee Tenpenny aren't far behind him. In Championship Contenders, Marquette holds a "B" grade for the first time as they are projected to ascend leaps and bounds over the next year or two. Looking at Toughest Places to Play, Ben Hill Griffin Stadium remains at #1 as the Gators have won 36 consecutive home games.
We'll close the episode by looking at our player stats here at the halfway point of the season before previewing next week's opponent, the Kansas State Wildcats led by Jesse Ertz at QB.
In the next episode, we'll get back to the gridiron as the Golden Eagles look to respond well following their first loss of the season and hope to inch their way back into the Top 25 polls.
