The life of Carnival workers, the stigmas that go along with them and getting up close & personal with the "Midway Men."
An indie documentary produced by four aspiring media students about the life of a carnival worker. Primarily shot on a Canon t3i and extra footage from a Nikon d3100, Midway Men is a no-budget film. Despite that, we put our heart and souls into making this as good as we possibly could with the limitations we had. We hope you enjoy!

I just started working with a show this past weekend, they ran a criminal background check, and an 8 point drug screen before I was even allowed to step foot on the midway, and run learn the ropes. I've met some of the coolest, hardest working people, from all walks of life. I'm only working with them while they're in my state, but they've offered me to go on the road.. I've never thought I would be considering traveling for a living!

That girl commenting on the carnies looked worse than a carnie. There is something sexy about their life. Especially them having each other's backs. They are loyal.

I have always liked the Midway rides. I have lots of respect for the workers. They work long hours, the work is hard, always on the road, working in hot weather, humid weather, cold weather, in the rain etc. Thanks to you all for bringing excitement, happiness and fun for us all, year after year.

You’d think being one for any length of time would teach you at least how to spell it right. It’s Carnie, ya jabroni.

I've always thought joining the carnival had a certain romantic, glamorous appeal, in my own vagabond-gypsy-soul kinda way....but right at the end of this vid, the guy suggests that sleep is somewhat lacking due to the demands of setting up & breaking down. This is a cause of concern to me; sleep deprivation will lead to carelessness, thus possibly compromising the safety of carnival-goers and 'carnies' alike

True. I can't even see straight if I don't get enough sleep.

I have just saw your article.Thank you.I have been with it most of my life. Many Shows,Gene Ledel,Heart of America,Worked with and for many.Loved every minute.Even when it was my Head on the Chopping Block. And I pretty much did everything over the years .Even Office work.Seen many changes.I am no longer called a ''CARNIE''.I am however a Showman.Take that filthy word Carnie out of your mouth. You are a Showman, not a Carnie.First show I was ever on still had a Side Show..And yes there was a ''G''Top open after closing.Very first Nude woman I saw was at the Girly show..Art James 77 years of age.See ya later.

A bunch of forty- milers. I wouldn't call most of them Carneys either. Their disdain for the word Carney must be a Canadian thing.

Amazing, look at the European carnivals. Many rides, such as bumper cars, don’t have fencing. Why? Because Europeans have common sense while in the USA everything has to be made IDIOT PROOF.

Go to a carnival, ask if they need help. It's not easy work, but the people are real, the money can be good, and you can go some pretty awesome places. I'm considering going on the road with a show. I had to pass a criminal background check, and an 8 point drug screen at the show I'm working with.
