They make pretty much the same Brake for an AR 5.56 and the AK, I don't know if they make it for a .308 AR too, need to find out!!

Someone on another site asked "I hate to throw things away, what do I do with the old slant brake? Well, you could just leave it like it is. Or cut or grind it off square in the front clean up and polish the raw edges a bit and you have just saved your self $15 or $20 on a custom barrel thread protector with built in ready made fancy AK indexing slots. What more could you possably want!!!😁

Yes, you can do that. But, You might change your opinion after you shoot a good Brake!! This one DOES make a HUGE difference.

@@yrsued My reply to your review of the Midwest Ind. AK muzzle brake was never intended to be something that would replace or even compare to a good muzzle brake but simply a somewhat humorous suggestion of what one might do with the old Slant brake to possibly make it useful as a barrel thread protector as oppossed to say, throwing it in the trash!

I just ordered this brake for my SAIGA AK47. It came with a muzzle brake Arsenal put on it. I'm hoping this one shoots smoother than that one. I don't care about anyone to the side, they can wear ear protection, lol. I'm more worried about putting rounds on target quickly, should the need ever arise.

And THAT is what a brake was made for. I don't know what Brake came with your gun, but this one is VERY well designed and it works GREAT!!

Exactly. Shooting fast is rad. Don't like my brake? F--k off. The normal slant brake doesn't do jack to help my AK be controllable and I'm NOT spending hours at the gym to have tree trunk forearms.

They used to teach that in schools in the US. We had range training with .22s. When I was in HS, we would bring our guns into shop class to work on them. During hunting season we’d bring them in our cars and trucks and go after school. There was never any school shootings. We never, ever, never did it cross our minds to do something nefarious. Ever. What changed is society has gone to hell. We grew up with TV shows like Father knows best, Bonanza, todays kids grow up with naked hos getting their asses slapped and called bitches on TV. Believe me, the 50s-70s were a great time in this country. Today is a shit show

I have one put a rubber o ring on it, and will allow you to compress the o ring for tight fit with mi on top.

That, or you can machine it... It works great both ways!!

If you're going to do that, I'd suggest using a viton o-ring. They can handle more heat than a regular rubber one.

Correct viton is the only way to go. It would save lots of money having to machine material off and this way you can ho back to your slant brake. I believe I used a number 7 o ring which is an od of 1/2", I'd of 3/8" with a 1/16" wall thickness.

My number 7 is a plumbing based size there are metric etc , amazon carries them or you can use a local hose and hydraulic place , may even find some at home depot etc , regular rubber works as well but will wear out a bit faster. The nice thing is they are dirt cheap either way so it's a nice repeatable way to time these

That wobble is normal. Factory or aftermarket brakes have play and are not supposed to be screwed down tight. Anything else is OCD anal behavior.

Not OCD, we want perfection, we did that to our AK74 Style Brake on Dave's Double Underfolder Poly back in the early 90's. Why?? Because we could!! Also, Gunsmiths at that time loved to experiment and find how to do things.
