We have two Wampee and two white sapote trees in the backyard (in the Greensborough area) and they are all sooking at this moment...all of their leaves turned brown and crispy/leathery and scratch tests confirmed they are still alive but looks like it's a start from scratch deal next year. We had a -4 degrees hard frost a couple of weeks back and my lawn froze over! Didn't remember it being so cold in the night before.

Wow! That's harsh. Best to cover young subtropical trees if minus 0 Celsius is expected. My white sapote trees are over 10 years old and can now take hard freezes. Protect young trees!

What an adventure your garden is, George! A few hits, but thats life i guess. I know i shouldnt, but i laugh when you show the bites from your fruits....the local wildlife know where to get a good feed! Great tour, thank you!!!

Plumeria looks fine to me. In my region of the world they loose all leaves over winter then grow everything back come spring.

Hi George! Our frangipani in my area WA metro usually lose all the leaves during winter. I bought mine about the same time as yours and it is looking like just a stick without leaves at the moment. The leaves looked like yours before falling. Surprised to see yours is with leaves even with a flower in winter in Melbourne! 😮. I thought the frangipani 😮is deciduous.

I wonder if putting a black compost bin around the star apple with a top on it would help, as the black could radiate thermal heat from the sun, and protect from wind, but then it would suffer from lack of light I suppose.

I'm not sure, but one is still hanging on.

Abiu is looking better than mine at the moment. I’m getting the possums eating my paw paw Leaves 🍃 now. Have to spray Chillies 🌶️ spray on the leaves left when this rain 🌧️ stops to get the possums to piss off! Like I said with the ice cream bean you had that needed spray but like that when the tree gets large who has time for that in winter 🥶 when it rains off the chillies spray ? They have not killed it but they are working from the top to down eating the leaves. Any advices what you would do with this problem ? The tree is to big to net now I really don’t want to have do that ? But it’s taking some a fluke to work I don’t want to lose it to possums. The younger southern red paw paw that covered by a greenhouse bag over underneath it is going ok I need it to make it work and alive with the larger one to set fruit as all I got last season was flowers.

I don't have critters eating my avocado leaves, but maybe there is a spray, nothing poisonous, that would taste bad that could be applied to the leaves?

It rains every other day throughout winter. Sprays would wash off.
