Exactly what I needed. Hard to believe so many people are out there producing such practical videos allowing others to benefit not only from saving some money but feeling good about fixing stuff!
Thank you so much for your suggestion regarding Miele “F 138 fault”. It fixed the machine. We live 230 kms from the nearest repair shop, so we really appreciated your solution! Judy
no. I did pay a guy to come and look, and he couldn't see anything obvious. Thankfully it appears to have miraculously fixed itself. I pulled the machine out last weekend and there wasn't a puddle of water even after I'd tilted it forwards and backwards.
Great vid.... My old plastic drum machine is dead ( cannot repair bearings,) just going to get a 2nd hand Miele £80. At least l can repair it.....???? German...... Thank you Germany..... Don't forget EBAC in The UK you can repair the bearings and separate plastic drum.
So, basicaly, when the tree bars are on display, there is internal leaking, right? My machine W451E, sometime have that tree bars and cannot run the motor on lower speed. Actualy, I can see the motor how try to rotate loundry, but it is very dificult to do the job.
I had a leak on mine and kept filling up the bottom panel and the anti flood device would kick in mine is w5748 but very similar to this one! It was the tube at the top of the drum that goes to drawer the steam vent I think it is. Anyway it was full of limescale and stopped the machine draining properly kept spinning full of water causing it to leak out inside it and coming flying out the front of the drawer to... it was unblocked done a few boil washes with machine cleaner the cheep oust one it’s amazing and the kettle one. And it hasn’t done it since I also got a new door seal as it was a bit worn and mouldy. It’s ten years old so hoping it will last another ten years :)
Interesting when you take it apart, but the power should Always be turned off, having your wet hands in there, with Potentially live components is a massive no no
All i want to know is how to get the front PCB out without pulling the whole machine to bits. I know it can be done, but no one shows how to clip it out in any videos 😕 😢
Thanks for the video. Thought about investing in Meile washing machine but heard from friends and appliance retailers they have their faults . I've had 2 Zanussi washing machine 1st lasted 10+years my 2nd is 8 yrs old been through 5 house moves and daily washing and still going strong!!! (is a Meile washing machine worth the £££. To pay top £££ you would expect a machine to run no faults for a lifetime unless caused by the owner coin or other items stuck in machine 😆
Good question. It certainly wasn't worth it in the 80s when I believe Zanussi machines were arguably too high quality (Jet System machines were superb) for the price and I assume Electrolux group have put that `right' in recent years with the machines lasting less well than they did. It is of course nice to use a high quality machine and you get features that other machines don't offer, e.g. on a Miele you get `Soak' (you can soak really dirty items for between 30 minutes and 6 hours (selectable) at about 30 deg. C with occasional agitation; after the soak period the machine then does the wash cycle selected as usual using the same water).
Thanks for pointing me towards the solution. I changed it a bit: rather than dismantle the floor panel, I emptied the bottom tray by.... lifting the back of the machine steeply (being super careful to make sure the machine does not slip and fall on its front!), so that all the water in the tray flowed out to the floor in front of the machine. Then I slowly lowered the back of the machine back and moved it back to its place. Same result - no screwdrivers needed. Again - be careful not to slip and not to drop the machine while tilting it! Hold it strong (I am a 195 cm tall 120 kilo guy... ).
You saved my day. There are so many inaccurate videos. I have to find the leak as well. I’m thinking reflux at the end of my drain pipe. The plumber only dis put a U that goes only 5cm in a 45deg fixed tubing in the wall… thanks again.
@@jolyontidmarsh1759 Cool, I've watched it. Thanks I'll check that part as well. I'll check the bottom one as I did not check in the crevasses. Cheers. Funny sound in the other video speed up.
Can I buy you a drink? Lifesaver! Machine up and running again, giving me time to find the fault and repair. As the drain compartment was full of water after a 15min rinse cycle I'm guessing it needs a new pump. Have you done a video on this?
Thank you... thank you.. thank you... You saved me ❤❤❤❤ I had taken apart everything and cleaned every pipe but it didn't work and your video came to the rescue 🛟 of my sanity and time .. I can't thank you enough.. God bless you❤❤❤
Used this to figure out how to disassemble machine to replace bottom dampers, as machine was knocking going into spin. Made the job really easy. Thank you
@@jolyontidmarsh1759 I was fearless repairing spiders and bearings in the past as I had a repair business doing that but the Miele look so overenginereed that I never attempted one
I saw the video and we started to fix our washing machine. After a moment we started to notice, we coulden’t open the front. Our neighbour helped us. He started from the back of the washing machine. It was so much easier. We spent more time fixing the front. 😂 but thanks for posting this video. 😅
Hi, I just moved my front cover for the same reason, what I found was a small hole in the large rubber tube/sump hose that comes off the side of the drain pump, I was feeling around the hose and felt a sharp object and found this protruding through the tube in one of the creases, so I would probably check that hose, presume they can degrade over time as well. The other things I think could cause the leak could be is the drain hose from the drain pump all the way to the outlet, possibly a crack in the drain pump, and the only other thing I would think would be the grey door gasket could have hole from a sharp object or wear and tear.
Brilliant. Thank you. Worked for our Miele Paragon Plus - both water inlet and drain lights lights flashing, and the fittings were all similar enough to work out. Plus the seal impression raised a smile, so all good!
@@jolyontidmarsh1759 Excellent. That may well come in useful as I'm rather conscious that my "fix" (mopping up the water) may only be temporary. Once again, you're a star.
Instructions were clear and concise. Someoneput the emergency release button wrong side of the front panel and closed the door!! I guess the only access is via the top and then the left side> Have you tried this>
Thank you for a very usefull YT, I have the problem that it doesn't do a great job centrifuge the clothes, I need to clean a pipe to the pump for it to work properly again. My Miele is a much younger version, but it looks pretty much exactly like yours
@@jolyontidmarsh1759 Please advise how old the machine was when you had to replace it due to drum bearing failure and roughly how many wash cycles per week it did on average.
Hi Jon, when I made the video I didn’t know how to fix it, and draining it kept it going for another 3 months or so. I made another video later showing what was leaking.
Yes, I was doing that, but I wanted to try and find out what was going on inside. Plus, its a pain to get the machine out too. Its possible to syringe the water out with a short lenth of tube pushed through the holes that the base cover faring clips into.
Jolyon Tidmarsh I cleaned my filter, but also pulled on a little (snorkel) looking hose that came off completely in my hand! I don’t know how to get it back on, or where it came from? Do you know?
Thanks for the request... but I only have this one washing machine. On my W3444 It looks fairly straightforwards though, one you’re feeling brave enough.
Oh you clown, if it's flooding that means you're using it completely wrong the appliance cannot flood under normal usage. That flood sensor is specifically there to tell you that you are fking up. Furthermore there is a BUILT IN drain for the catchment tray on the appliance. You never need to remove the panel!
There was a EPDM rubber part with a split in it that was leaking slowly. I've made a video about that too... it always bugged me that I didn't know where the leak was coming from.
