If you are having trouble then you can try another way. Hold down on/off button and child safety button (at the same time) and when you get P5 up (if you get it) you can resetting too factor setting. But I can’t tell you why it is so hard to do. Let me know if you need more help This will also depend on model you have

This is not a model I have her, but in theory it can be “window is closed” (If you’re model has this electric component DSM400) If not it can be software fault (DSM400 registered although it is not fitted or been removed) Or DSM400 missing power module. Check this and let me know if it helped or not 😊👍🏼
Try to remove power, when you give power again look at the display and see if you can see light. If there is no light and nothing happens you need to check if it’s getting electricity. Let me know what happens 👍🏼
This is not the same display that I have, but you can try removing the power cable for 5-6 seconds. The top will then calibrate the light level, and the button may be better. If this still dos not get better se the user manual: programming. Ther may be a alternative activation for the LC. If his still dos not work try to reset to factory settings. And if thy is dos not work let me know, send me model name
Programming: hold on and 🔒 for 4-5seconds. I’d P and S then appears select 16 under the P. (This shooed be sensitively) under the select / S button select 2. This should also help out. (If you have the:km6115)

Hou don’t have to use the alarm, it’s not random. It sounds like you should read the user manual about alarm usage. But I do agree with the sound it makes when it goes off
