Brittany, THANK YOU!!!! I have learned SO MUCH from you, it’s insane. I was sold after watching how quickly your hair grew!! I said, she’s doing something right! Your videos are also very relaxing. Again, thank you for the amazing content. I sincerely appreciate you. 🙏🏾❤️
Cowashing with regular conditioner every 3 days and then shampoo is the dickie method. I only cowash once but really like the wash n go I get after it. It’s also less stress, not trying to hold on to a style for longer than needed.
That it is! I’ve been watching so many of the old Hair Rules videos, and he has some gems. True. I hate stressing about maintaining a style that needs to be reset.
I was never a fan of co-washing. I never found one that cleansed my scalp. I need my scalp to feel clean. Something I did that helped me get more in tune with my hair. I went a month without using any products that had polyquats, silicone, or silicone alternatives. I truly know what my hair feels like and how products perform on my hair. I now limit my products that contain those ingredients. My styling products work so much better when I limit my exposure to those ingredients. Alot of these brands are claiming silicone free but using silicone alternatives, which essentially do the same thing as silicones. Have to be careful of build up.
@friedchicken892 I use Evolvh Hydrating Wash and Smartcolor shampoos. I use Kurlstory Hydration Therapy Multi Use Conditioner. I use UFD Curly Magic or Curl Origin Honey Hisbiscus leave in as my bases. For stylers I use Ecoslay Jell-O shot, Kinky Curly Curling Custard, Evolvh InstaVolume Volumizing Mousse or Innersense Icreate hold.
I'm not a big fan of the Felicia leatherwood brush either. When I finally learned how to use it which was horizontally, it worked for me much better. But I still don't find myself reaching for it. My go-to is the tangle teaser brush.
Oh my goodness, I swear to God like 10 ppl have mentioned the tangle Teezer 😂 I love my travel sized one, but I haven’t picked it up and so long it feels like so I’m circling back within the next few weeks.
If you ever go back to using creams, the Fantasia Curly&Coily Curl Activator Cream combined with the Fantasia coconut/Argan oil curl custard is a game changer. It applies like a cream/gel but dries like a mousse with more moisture and better hold and no flaking.
I’m a mouse girl. This is a mouse I really like as well, but didn’t at 1st. I also like design essential, and tgin so far they have been my favorite. I also add leave in, oils, and sometimes hair grease before adding mouse. I don’t like gel so I use mouse in place of it. My hair has been growing finally thank god.
YAS. I'm so surprised with how much Ouidad you have in your wash routine, that you haven't tried the triple deep treat before now, so glad you love it. Your commentary is very refreshing as it addresses common problems or similar thoughts I have as well throughout my wash day and I thoroughly enjoy your "matter of fact" tone it's not offensive and typically straight to the point.
Ikr! I’ve seen people raving about it but I didn’t want to pay full price for it. Now that I know how good it is, I would. And I appreciate your feedback, thank you!
I love your wash and go! I’m using Olaplex faithfully as well and have to refresh on day 3! We have the opposite situation going on…my hair will NOT lay down on my forehead and will strink into a curly fro. Because of you, I’m not giving up and use design essentials leave in conditioner, Camille Rose honey hydrate, and the doux mousse!
Thank you! Olaplex gang 😮💨. Yes, don’t give up! You got this. My hair used to always shrink into a curly fro too. Years ago before I started doing wash and go’s consistently, but mainly because I was air drying.
I used this mousse for the first time this week after watching your video a few times. Mielle has really good affordable products that my hair loves. I love the volume and fluffiness of this mousse. My curls are simply enhanced and not sculpted looking. I don’t like that. It’s also soft to touch. Oh and I’m using ouidad shampoos, conditioners and leave-ins thanks to u! LOVE the scent! I’m learning so much. Your videos are great❣️ Keep up the good work!
Great to hear! I have a few more mielle products to try out (more like try again because I haven’t used them in years but I have used them before) and I’m excited because the mousse really did exceeded my expectations. I’m so glad that you’re loving the Ouidad products 🤗 they are top-tier! Tfs 💗
@brittanymia Your hair is beautiful! I've been using mousse again lately because of you. Thanks for the reminder! I find that pulling my hair apart (out to the sides ), instead of raking downward is most effective for finger detangling. The tangled hair just comes right out. Try it and let me know what you think.
I love all ur wash n gos but this was was my favorite! I was big on finger detangling only up until like a month ago. I broke down and purchased a tangle teezer and I have not regretted it one bit. It makes the detangling process and removing shed hairs so much easier! Even when I’m doing my mid week water rinse I use my tangle teezer to smooth and detangled my hair while I’m in the shower. It has been a game changer!
This is definitely one of my favorites as well! It’s so good to hear that you found something that makes your routine simpler. Finger detangling is great, but my goodness I don’t have the patience lol. So many people love the tangle Teezer!
This WnG looks great, but so far I have liked all the ones you have done!🥰 I've used Mousse Def alone, with a leave-in, and over UFD. They all give a different look and dry fast which I like. When I'm finished with Mouse Def I'm going to get either ICD or Treluxe. I don't co-wash because my scalp doesn't like it.
I appreciate it! Yes, it’s awesome how they all give different results that serve their own special looks. I’m excited to try crate definition because I heard the hold is crazy. I’be heard very little about the Treluxe mousse. I’m thinking about getting that too.
The Felicia Leatherwood is a great tool especially the newer version. The older version the seams were fought but the new version they smoothed it out and it’s more flexible the plastic they used. I will say though I never use it as the first and only detangling tool. I think it works better as a second layer or final detangling after detangling with fingers first or a brush like the Phillips Flexx/ Flexy brush or a brush of its kind. I’ve even recently returned to try the Kazmaleje paddle brush as a first detangling tool and my hair is in much better condition as well as my technique has gotten better to where using that then Felicia works the best. At times I only find the Kazmaleje paddle brush necessary. As always I need the Conditoner water ratio to be frothy and slippery enough to reduce friction and be able to glide the tool through.
I agree, it is great tool. I don’t like having to use multiple tools to detangle my hair, but if it works and there’s less stressful on myself and my hair, then I’ll give it a go. I just recently purchased that brush and will be speaking on it here soon. Thanks for sharing
I’ve been watching you for a while ❤ You should try the purple tangle teezer for 3c-4c hair. I swore by the Felicia leatherwood. But this one is my new fav. I feel like the FL brush doesn’t do well for me anymore
The ultimate tangle Teezer? I purchased it and ended up giving it to my nieces. I wish they had one with very long teeth because I would love it. I may just try it again though, thanks for the suggestion. 💕
@@BrittanyMia so I tried it a few years ago and didn’t like it. But recently I saw a bunch of girls with tighter curls then me use it. So I gave it a try again and fell in love. I think so, it’s the purple one
I gave up on the Felicia Leatherwood brush. Honestly it was ripping out my hair no matter how I used it. I now use the Denman D90L aka the Tangle Tamer. It worked so well that it scared me 😂, BUT when I cleaned the brush it was the least amount of hair I'd lose during a detangling session. Your hair looks great! Thank you for the video.
I haven’t given up on it quite yet. I pick it up sometimes but now only after I’ve used something else to detangle beforehand. I didn’t have a great luck when I tried the tangle tamer. I felt as though I can barely get it through my hair. Tfs!
I think it does do just that. They’re all different, but this mousse with a botanical gel for a little more more hold would hold up great. Alone, I just feel like it depends on your shampoo, conditioner, and if you choose to use a leave-in or not. And also just your hair in general. In high humidity I feel like it would only last a few days, depending on how much are outside.
Sorry to butt in. I love seeing all your videos as well, especially these mousse series, but not at the detriment of your hair. I think you may end up over manipulating , and there is such thing as over moisturizing, or wetting your hair too much which may cause hygral fatigue. Since you do workout, a mid week cowash and weekly shampoo is should be sufficient. If your hydration level is good, and you find,a good styler combo that gives you the definition, hold and volume that you want, your wash n go should be able to last at least 3 to 4 days even with working out.
@@melisajbeauty I appreciate your insight. I’m still discovering what I like and what works for me so I I hear you. I’ve dealt with over moisturization before and don’t want to deal with it again now that my hair is better balanced. Thank you.
Her hair doesn't ever look dry or frizzy. We have been tricked as a community into believing we should not wash our hair often. Seeing Brittany’s growth and hair health tells me she's not over-manipulating or over-washing her hair. Anthony Dickey recommends daily wash and go for type 4 hair. Everyone has different needs, and seeing her videos and stylist visits, she's good. She just needed to get to her scalp more. Thank you, Brittany. Loving your videos and your hair. I cannot stand flakes, either. Thanks for testing this stuff out for us.
This came out so fluffy n so hydrating I love it ❤️🌺 I also just realized u totally big chopped while still having healthy natural hair n I’m here struggling to let go of my heat damaged, keratin processed hair because I am obsessed with length…😭 thanks for the inspo always 🙏🏽🥹
Your hair looks bomb. I don't co-wash very often. Usually, co-wash more in the summer or when a style does not work out. I use Oyin Ginger Mint co-wash. If I wash too often in a week, my scalp gets sore.
That makes sense. I don’t put the conditioner directly on my scalp. I concentrated it on my hair, but I understand the scalp soreness for sure. I don’t have that issue anymore but I used to when I would cowash with actual cowash products. They still seemed to cause dryness in my hair, yet build up in my scalp.
Found it, finally found you 🎉. I have been looking for someone with the same hair Type as me, even the edges are the same, they dry the same. Shrink and puff the same. You just don’t know how long I have been looking, since 2017. I’m so happy and glad to have found you. New subscriber 😊😊😊😊❤❤❤
I like the combo of the mizani coil oil gel and the mousse and this miss jessies mulitcultural clear gel. Not sure of longetivity since I didnt try it completely but day 1 hair was nice
Your hair looked bomb af both times. I most definitely agree with you when it comes to detangling. I’d rather detangle with a tool. I don’t want to be in the bathroom forever just finger detangling. Great video.
This turned out beautiful. This mousse is one of my favorites and the design essentials ( I love some hydrolyzed wheat protein) that style brush only makes me feel confident it isn’t damaging my hair if I used a wide tooth comb first: my hair is so fine and coily any teeth that close together feel like I am reversing all my k18, Olaplex lol
I used to only finger detangle, and either my technique wasn't great or it just wasn't for me because I used to still have horrible tangles when I was done! I am a tangle teezer girly now and it is life changing for me lol. Anyway, your wash n go looked great! I might have to revisit cowashing this summer.
I just wish the tangle Teezer had super long teeth, but I have to pick that up again. You’re like the third person who’s mentioned that in the comments so I know it must be doin somethin.
@Brittany Mia it took me years to finally give in and try because honestly brushes scared me! But it's so easy and enjoyable to use. I only do 4 sections since my hair is on the lower density side, and I just make sure to brush at several different angles for each section to really get in there. Maybe 5, 10 minutes max of detangling.
@Brittany Mia I never would have thought I could detangle in so little time, but here I am living the dream lmao. Tangle teezer + ouidad curl quencher = what dreams are made of haha
I was hoping you'd eventually try this one! It is the goat. I've tried many...many mousse but the Mielle and Taliah Waajid crinkles and curls are my two favorites.
100% get what you feel about finger detangling. I tried it for a while when I just couldn't find a styling tool I enjoyed, but I was more frustrated because I have so much hair. When I saw Afrikanhairgod suggesting his Denman, I didn't look back. I do still take my time and will put the brush down for more tangled sections, but it moves so much faster with the brush. The Mielle Mouse is definitely one of the best on you so far (of the videos I've seen of your mousse series, I'm just kind of taking my time and going in order). My mom bought it last week for her own hair, but I ended up using it and loved it. but I've only used it for a twist out
You should try the Amika Hydro Rush Leave-In. It’s another spray one and is really light. I find it helps hold water in my hair which allows me to style wash and gos outside the shower. Just using the spray nozzle directly works really well for me so it might be easier to use.
try starting to brush vertically only with the brush until that section is completely detangled! Can't remember where I saw someone say that, but starting horizontally and even in the middle is a no for my hair lol. It's a struggle
0:35 do you ever wear your hair up? That would be such a pretty hairstyle pinned up at the back with the bang area out like that, if you ever decided to wear it up!
Mydaughters hair so her hair lasts the week and has moisture i do shampoo then hair mask and leave that in and sometimes heat and rinse that out then leave in and style. So I pretty much have to do this to my daughters hair and she has twice as much hair and length as you. Not easy, I'm half tempted to get an outdoor shower to do hair in summer sitting on the porch and no worries about water and plenty of room just both wear bathing suits lolol.
The angle at which you’re using the Felicia leatherwood may be the issue. For me I have to ensure it’s held vertically while I detangle. after detangling the full length of my hair then I go through with the brush horizontally. Just thought I would share…
The only time I cowashed daily was shortly after I big chopped. My hair was extremely dry so I started following the Curly Girl Method. I cowashed daily with Tresemme Naturals (a silicone free conditioner). But I literally just washed and went. There was no definition, it was just a TWA. I knew that once my hair became hydrated enough, I would start to see definition. Fast forward 13 years, I am…like you…going through some things with my hair. I think my hair has changed, also I got lazy for a bit and wasn’t washing it like I should. I too am active, so now I wash and style twice weekly. No refresh or reapplication of products in between. Now that my hair is longer, it is a balance between keeping it well hydrated and cutting down on the manipulation. I really enjoy trying new products, so I’m experimenting with new regimens as well. I watched this video in preparation for trying a mousse wash-n-go (I’m team gel all day, every day). Good luck and I wish you many, many, many good hair days!
I appreciate you sharing your experience in your current wash the schedule! It’s the combination of my hair changing so much in a year and the manipulation aspect that also has me stuck figuring out a better way. I hope your mousse Wash N Go was a success, and I also wish you many, many good hair days 🖤.
This mousse is the only one that gives me a ton of volume. I cannot speak about the hold because I used Ouidad's Whipped Curls under it. I will play around with it a bit more, but I quite like it.
The Camille Rose mousse has a horrid scent. There was no way I was going to even try it in my hair. I bought it one day, smelled one pump, and returned it the next day.
I don’t use brushes to detangle it’s harder for me to detangle and I feel like it rips my hair and creates split ends especially when my hair is wet. So, I use a wide tooth comb and fingers
I prefer to finger detangle . As you said about FD, I feel the same about using tools. I just don’t like using them. Then again my routine is not even half of yours 😂. If my routine was longer… I would probably prefer tools too .
@@BrittanyMia Lately I’ve been experimenting with washing every 5 days (because of you 🥰). So I shampoo, apply leave-in, and seal with a light coat of grease, then do a low maintenance style. That’s it 😂. I deep condition after my protein treatment every 4-6 weeks . My hair and I are loving the simplicity . Though I was never the type to have a long wash day anyway.
I heard that too. She should blow dry her hair to see if she is getting all her split ends from the curly cuts. I don’t have tangles, but I get my hair blow dried and cut. I also went from deep conditioning every time to once or twice a month
You’ve got me wanting to break this back out… I didn’t care for it bc my hair felt dry afterwards on day 2.. and looked more shingled than clumped.. but it definitely gave great definition.. I’m gonna definitely use a leave-in, just probably a more lightweight type.. TFS!! Oh & it’s “my-elle” not “me-elle”
@@BrittanyMia lol you’re welcome.. I thought I was wrong bc a lot of ppl say it that way, but I saw a video where she pronounced it. I personally think “me-elle” sound better!
@@BrittanyMia so I tried it out twice. First time my hair was soaking wet when applying the mousse, so it dried with NO hold. However I refreshed it the next day and it had great hold. I would say medium/soft - similar gold to design essentials, but more moisturizing. The second time around I let the leave in sit on my hair for a good 5 minutes with a plastic cap and squeezed as much water out my hair so it was more damp than wet. After applying the mousse It dried with a medium hold and great moisture. I used about 1-2 pumps per section. I work in small sections (slightly smaller than your sections) my hair is very dense and coarse. The slip was amazing. I’ve tried many mousses including the design essentials and Camille rose. But this one is top two with aunt Jackie’s mousse. Aunt Jackie’s mousse doesn’t have as strong of a hold but it gives more volume on day 1 and is very moisturizing. I used it with the eco slay deep conditioner which can also be used as a leave in. (That’s the best leave in I’ve used. My hair tends to be on the drier side, so good moisturizing products are always a PLUS PLUS for me) So I can’t decide what’s my favorite mousse right now, but it’s definitely between aunt Jackie’s and treluxe. I’m going to experiment with the eco slay deep conditioner as a leave in with the tre luxe and see how I like it then. Also I live in MS, where it’s typically humid.
@BrittanyMia Thank you, and yes!!! Please do a video on that. I just big chopped, and I have to start wearing my natural hair out more as opposed to braids, wigs, etc, because it's causing breakage. I have a nice bit of length, but we all know shrinkage it real lol.
I had been thinking about trying the Mielle mousse and as always your video is coming at the right time because Ive been looking at reviews to make a final decision. I’m waiting for you to get some sponsorships because you’re out here influencing the girls! I’ve noticed with mousse, shampoo, conditioner and leave in (if you choose) is very important. Like most other products, it can greatly change the outcome of your hair. For the more conditioning ones I find that the most basic wash day enhances the performance of the mousse (for me). For some of the ones you’re on the fence about, maybe you could try that?
You’re gonna love this mousse it’s booomb. And hopefully soon lol these companies though 🌚 I agree. It really is all about how you set up your hair for success for the styling products and technique. Choosing the right leave-in will for sure put the nail in the coffin on how it turns out (if I’m using one, which of course now I am). I’m gonna revisit some of the mousse I’ve already used alone with leave-in as you mentioned because I think the Doux Bee girl specifically would be 💣 with a leave in.
Your set is gorgeous. I've been revisiting the Mielle pomegranate and honey line for the past few months. I'm definitely trying the mousse. I gave up cowashing years ago. My hair and scalp need shampoo.
I love how you're experiencing everything I promised with cowashing lol. It really does just help curl pattern and moisture level. Heavy shampooing and detangling are the biggest impediments to curl pattern. I TOLD YOU VERBAITM... 'the more hydrated your hair is the more juicy and defined and easy to detangle it is' and here you are weeks later having the same realization lol. That said I'm glad you came around because your hair looked incredible on the 2nd wash. Anyways thanks for another great vid hair twin! PS - Imma laugh when you revisit some products and realize it was actually the cleansing phase that threw some of those wash days off 😂
Oh, I don’t think so honestly. The thought of doing it on towel-dried hair and having to wet my hair again with a spray bottle or something just sounds like a lot of work. My scalp sometimes starts to itch because the gym I work out and it is very hot and it gets really humid in there. Which is really a big reason why I would rather reset my hair after a work out because it just feels nasty sometimes but not every day. I also sweat a lot on my scalp and since I walk to and from the gym it’s just a lot of sweat lol. The itching isn’t out of control, but it’s just a little bothersome, and I’d rather not deal with it.
@@BrittanyMia oh that’s how I do my hair. I have short hair so it takes me about a hour. I’m about to start working out and I decided I’m going to start washing my hair every two weeks instead of every week since my hair is use to retaining moisture now. I hope it works out if not I’ll go back to once a week.
Now you know I don't believe in cowashing, and honestly it's a waste of product! Because if the strand is never fully cleansed, then you're never actually getting the full benefits out of the conditioner. Which makes me ask, why you used the k18, into the treatment? Also, why you choose to scrunch in your conditioner, as opposed to smoothing/squeezing it in? Lastly, I think I'm always asking these questions, because your technique is just... different, & yeah idk
I use the K18 for what it’s made for, bond building. I like to scrunch the conditioner in to make sure that it’s mixed well with the water. I also smooth it in. I’ll stick with my cowashing because it’s working for me right now.
