My experience? Crit-Crit-Crit-Loses energy from 5 km away when I launched it at mach1.1-Eats Chaff-Eats Chaff-Crit-Crit-Crit-Crit. R77 is the worst fox 3 missile and the flight model of this plane feels like it's a mig 21 with two engines. Loses speed at every turn.
@@thade6130 yeah don't bother. Aim120 it's just in another league, they launch it from far away and still manages to hit me. I have to practically fly low, pop up from behind a hill, lock a target fast and shoot the r77 from less than 10km away. If this is how R77 in real life is then they really blew it but I doubt it from what I've heard about grid fins. We'll have to wait for r77-1 or the ram jet version that we'll get in 3-4 years maybe. Then we'll have a chance to do BVR, until then it's just another day huggging the deck. I only go into the stratosphere at times just to make the enemy waste missiles while I'm defending but I've noticed that most of the time my teammates in f16-15 make kills while I'm dodging missileles and I get almost no kill if I try to bait. Can't make this u ---> I flew hugging the deck today, fired at an F15 from 20 km away while he was low altitude too. One of my teammates in an F15 or 16 killed him before my missile got there and he was in the stratosphere. Almost broke my keyboard. I could only dream of launching a missile from where he was and still hit. R77 will not do that.
Ye don't get top tier Russia... Rn the most "fun" is mig29(9-13) at 12.0 in RB... Constant downtiers to f4s, mig23ml etc. anything above 12.0 is cancer in my experience since the aim120s are really too good to even try and fight with r77... I had better success with r27er against aim120 at bvr than r77 (still died a ton but got more kills) @@thade6130

I came in way to fast. There were 2 stacked planes(full ordinance). Since i was fast i wanted to create distance to shoot 1 plane with a missile and dogfight the other and win.Sadly the R-77 missed which most likely caused my death :/
God those fucking R-77, Russia/China is just play to lose at top tier right now. It's completly unfair compared to disproportion of previous R-27ER vs AIM-7M, where west planes had much better flight performance, much more countermeasures and better radars, compared to better FOX-1 on Russia/China side. I've allready grinded Japan and France, AIM-120/AAM-4/MICA are completly bonkers, right now trying to grind Russia with MIG-29SMT but its just pointless and completly unfair...
The R-77 did balance more out since the fox 3 buff but indeed the flightmodels should be brought back In my newest video you can watch the buffed R-77!
Soviet and Russian doctrine did not make the armaments or the equipment to be used like lone wolf, Top Gun Maverick, Ace Combat pilot. That's why players in DCS and WT suffer. Use the inventory according to the doctrine, and these are very powerful weapons. US weapons are intended for lone wolf strategy.
The funny thing is the r77 was never ever used... The r77-1 was used tho! Which has a sustainer and makes the r77 actually usable at anything longer than 10km
