FYI, both the XMA decapping and hold down dies should have a long, narrow spring installed above the centering "cone". This spring installs above the cone, below the inner cap and the long stem then passes through the spring. On top of the inner cap goes the shorter, stronger spring that actually puts pressure on the decapping or hold down pins. The final top cap then screws down on the shorter spring. Without the lower, long spring installed, there is nothing pushing down on the centering cone. My dies also shipped without the long springs. You can see the missing springs on the Mighty Armory website. Once I told Wayne of the oversight, he shipped them to me quickly.
Marvelous video ! I did attend the podcast to the end - and actually found re-watching THIS video more useful than that. Your insights into the order of things and the rings, is the secret sauce difference between frustration and success.
If you dont have it yet, you gotta get the bullet feeder. I installed mine without taking the tool head off. (A lot faster than removing the powder measure and tool head). All you gotta do is pull the handle and you are making ammo. The feeder also has a micrometer seater built in so it replaces the seater die I still have a primer jam every so often. Maybe 1:100 ish. Doesn’t seat and locks me up.
Great video, but if I buy one more piece of expensive equipment, my wife will put me out in the street. At 82 I can't see myself goin' there. You're doin' great !
Does the new xms hold down die function the same way as the fw arms dynamic hold down die - auto centering and can correct for small variances in mixed headstamp brass?
Something you both may want to know about the FA X10, the reason I asked is because FW Arm's dynamic hold down die does not fit in 5 (priming), and binds on the powder drop even with the right side linkage removed, after you relocate the powder drop to 6 to run a powder check die in 7. I purchased yesterday your XMS hold down as I want a dynamic function and it needs to fit in 5 without binding on the powder drop and/or removing the linkage. To my knowledge, your die is the only one that is dynamic that could fit (hoping that is the case but looks like it should). @@mightyarmoryprecision
To clarify, are you saying that the FW Arm's dynamic hold down die will not work in station 5 if you've moved the powder drop to station 6? I assume it should fit fine if you leave the powder drop in station 7, correct? @@surfcleanlines13
