In this captivating video, watch as an expert power washer undertakes the hefty task of cleansing a colossal, mud-encrusted CAT loader located within the rugged confines of a quarry. Employing the potent force of a rotary power washing tip, often referred to as a dirt blaster, witness the transformation as layers of dense mud are stripped away from the heavily soiled machinery. This process unveils the machinery's original paintwork, providing a visually pleasing transition from grimy to spotless. Perfect for enthusiasts of heavy machinery and those who relish in the satisfaction of a thorough clean, this pressure washing spectacle is not to be missed. #HeavyMachineryClean #PressureWashingTransformation #CATLoaderClean #QuarryCleaning

Glad you liked it! I had never done it before starting this customer. I was worried about breaking things, but they are built really tough. I would ask for feedback from the operators and just learned as I went. 1200 psi with a rotary tip I found gave the stickers a fighting chance! Hope you enjoy!

How much would you charge to wash a machine of that size?
@AndrewMeades
@AndrewMeades Год назад
At the time I was charging $100 an hour starting from when I left the shop to when I finished on site, so travel one way.

When washing anything vehicle house what have you always start from the top the highest level and work your way down?. Why he didn't do that first in this video I don't know
@AndrewMeades
@AndrewMeades Год назад
Not always true. Sometimes you have chemicals on the surface you don't want to rinse off until you hit it with pressure so you start from the bottom and work your way up. Sometimes cleaning Heavy equipment all day you'll switch it up just because you want to try and use different muscle groups.
@rigo9866

I usually do tires first on each side cause the mud kicks back on the body of the loader

Did you use hot water low pressure on the rad? Curious as im about to start a business of my own
@AndrewMeades

Yes I would use heat on the rad as well. Just taking the gun off and using a valve worked well.

Are you using a small turbo tip? I see the water spiraling so I thought I’d ask.
@AndrewMeades
@AndrewMeades Год назад
Yes I'm using a turbo tip. The impact really helps knock off built up dirt. I've got the pressure turned down to about 1200 psi to try and save the warning stickers on the vehicle.

what type of wand and turbo nozze are you using I have a 8gpm and I want to offer that service on my area.
@AndrewMeades
@AndrewMeades 2 года назад
Think it's just a suttner 1500 gun on an 8' lance. Probably a suttner turbo. I limit it to ~1200 psi to try and save some of the decals. If water isn't an issue you can try dual turbos, might speed things up a bit.

How big of a water tank do you have to carry for stuff like that? It’s gotta be huge
@AndrewMeades
@AndrewMeades 2 года назад
I've got two IBC tote tanks, totals over 2000L/550 Gal. I can control the flow and usually run about 4 Gallons per minute and I refill up on site as needed.

Hey man! Love the videos. Any chance you would be willing to do a Q&A video or respond to a few questions about quoting/billing customers (hourly rate?) for the heavy equipment washing? Do you ever wash engine bays/hydraulic valve block areas etc? Cheers!
@AndrewMeades
@AndrewMeades 2 года назад
Sure. Still relatively new to heavy equipment cleaning, been doing it about a year at this quarry, but happy to share what I've learned. For this customer I charge an hourly rate ($100/hr)(likely increase in 2022), from when I leave the shop, to when I'm finished on site, so one way travel. Four hour minimum. I am here every two weeks cleaning their five machines. Winter I try and get out when the weather cooperates. It bills roughly $2200 a month for a couple days work, usually on a weekend. Sometimes I'll hot pressure wash but usually it's cold. Sometimes will apply a degreaser for the grease points. Engine bays I am just careful around the electronics, mostly a rinse as I'm not confident what can get hit or not. The blocks I've done a couple times. Can be a pain as you've got to get through six inches of grit sometimes.

@@AndrewMeades sounds like you have a very broad variety of customers ! , how do you usually deal with keeping up when you get calls everyday? And how do you usually quote on the job ? I’m ve been real eager to start since in my area I’ve seen zero business willing to get down and dirty
@AndrewMeades
@AndrewMeades Год назад
My volume of calls isn't crazy. I'm lucky enough I've been doing it long enough my phone usually rings on its own. If you are out searching for work, it's a pretty straightforward process. What we do is clearly visible. Find something dirty, go ask the property manager or home owner if they want a quote. Ask to do test spots in inconspicuous places, they can be your calling card, especially if there's competition for the work, but they also set the expectations for the customer. And for pricing, I recommend you find your ceiling before your floor - Ie how expensive can you get before you start getting no's - it's a much better situation than not making any profit, losing money, and scrambling under high stress to finish asap.
