Here is an easy mini fog maker that produces mighty results! Tweet it!: bit.ly/TweetMiniFogMaker ►Check out my 'secret' classic videos: www.kipkay.com/classics Use only in a well-ventilated area.
Quick disclaimer (mostly for kids) that probably won't be seen: don't use this in an enclosed area with little to no ventilation. Dry ice is solid carbon dioxide. The fog is toxic to breath in. If the fog has nowhere to go, even if it looks like it has disappeared, it's still there. CO2 displaces air and settles below it, so if it has nowhere to go, ducking down below it and breathing in can kill you. Point being, if you use this, don't use it in a small room with no ventilation. Bigger versions can be dangerous, so unless you know what you're doing and how to keep everyone safe, best to just use it outside or in a small scale like in the video.
I was designing one of these myself, and this vid helped me realize it's way better to run the smoke through the tube by pressurizing the can rather than through the blades itself. Thanks! Also, when you grabbed the computer fan box, I immediately had a deja vu as I realized I had done the same with my dad's computer fan box literally an hour or two before:)
If you wrap several layers of heat tape around the can; you don't have to worry about the water getting cold and you can just keep adding dry ice and get more fog this way. I made a version of this for an appetizer buffet and had fog flowing out from under all the appetizer platters.
actually the dry ice itself is co2 but its a reletivly small ammpount all the "fog" you see is just water vapor that condenced from the air(quickly cooled air). co2 it colorless
***** I find that... blasphemous. Seriously, who would call their son "Jesus"? It's a spanish name, I presume, but most Spanish people are Catholics, who do not blaspheme
I love your videos they are so detailed and clear on what to do. I whatch at least 10 of your videos a day on just whatever you do. I think they are just the coolest things.
I am setting up a terrarium so I am going to use this for a Co2 plant treatment. It feeds the plants and kills anybugs that may come in with the plant specimens I find. I will most likely mod it a bit. I am also going to make another simular set up for misting
I'd use it to: Explain how cool I am Scare my gf after watching horror Ninja art: hidden mist technique Make creepy lab atmosphere Other kooky stuff that won't get me laid but at least I'm entertained :D
is there a way to modify an e-cigarette to make a magicians smoke-from-the-fingertips device? the ones made for this sort of stage and up close magic are usually pretty expensive and while not loud they can still be heard...just curious. also the mini fog maker machine can/could be used to produce smoke rings with a very slight tweak
nice build! i'm working on a sawdust extractor, for when I sand my wood sculptures on my workbench. will a large pc fan do the trick, or how about 2 identical fans, both drawing in the air (and sawdust)? i'm planning on using a 9v battery. how about a good air filter? any other ideas? all are welcome! (i'm a subscriber of MAKE magazine). any precautions to take with the build, or using it?
I'd use it for my frog tank. I'm trying to get a decent fogger without spending $100. Also, do u put the water and dry ice in with the battery and fan. Doesn't it spark or something like that?
I will make a bigger version of this and rob a rich casino. The cash storage is accessed through a security room. I will gas the guards, head in, and loot.
Hey Kip! That is super cool! How about using that to build a smoke ring vortex cannon? I bet you could come up with a really nifty slant on how to make one of those!!✰✰✰✰✰
I'm thinking about using it for my next Halloween village. I need a smaller version but I'm sure I can fab something now that I know what the basics are. Maybe a hair dryer motor for AC use, a smaller can with a plastic lid and some oxygen hose. This could be a unique feature no one else will have. A smoking entrance to a dragon's lair comes to mind. Thanx for posting!
Ok so I have a question. Why is the fan facing outward instead of inward? Wouldn't you need the fan to push the fog OUT of the can? Unless you changed it later cause in the video I see it outward. js
I brought this to school and hid it in my back pack. At the end of lunch, I got boiling water, and added it. I blocked off the tube and opened it in class. Beast.
I would add something like mosquito repellent and use it outside. I know they run away from smoke, but I am not sure if they would do it from something like this.
I don't know if I sound stupid now but, uhm...don't computer fans have three whires going out of them? I personally think he didn't make it that clear which ones you need, because that battery-clip had only two whires...I would appreciate an answer ;)
so cool! I used it in my sisters room under the door and she was freaked out, i have always been thinking how to put it into the air vent without it being noticed. lol
