I was obsessed with this movie as a kid. Always had the VHS on repeat. I remember the trailer for the Star Wars trilogy VHS box set was at the start of it which is what introduced me to SW.

Fëanor Gaming My Mum wouldn't trust me with the VCR controls. She'd just pop the tape in and play it from the start leaving me with my action figures on the living room carpet!
Cara Grbich thanks for the reply! I had a feeling he was wrong about the being filmed in the US thing. Apparently the fireworks scene at the end of the movie was actually advertised in the newspaper. They did it that way so they wouldn't have to pay extras.
Andrew Gibbs I think in recent years they've been filming in New Zealand as well, but just for the tv shows. For the newest movie coming out, I think they shot a lot of it in Japan.
Pink Ranger, Tiffani Amber-Thiesen from Saved by The Bell, & Wendy Peffercorn from The Sandlot were the hot girls, Devan Sawa, Benny "The Jet" Rodriguez from The Sandlot, Tommy (White Ranger), & Rufio from Hook if you were really cool were all the people I remember guys & girls having crushes on.
Wow 1995 really had some right Pop corn flicks that year. Batman Forever, Mortal Kombat, Street fighter and Power rangers. Am I missing anything else from 95??
There's actually a joke from Ivan Ooze that still makes me laugh. It's when they make the Megazord after the transformation sequence Ivan asks "now we can go?" 😂 nice we acknowledgement of bad guys waiting for the Rangers to be ready!
That Megazord was naturally very week! Ivan even landed the first blow to the face, which means the Rangers should all be dead. Then, he picked it up and hurled it through a building!
As a kid I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF THIS MOVIE! I didn't think any of it was boring, and I definitely didn't think the CGI was crap! I'm so glad Chris included clips of the movie because there was a lot of it I forgot and was nice to go down memory lane! THANK YOU CHRIS FOR THIS!!!
Same I haven't seen this since I was 8 years old probably and couldn't tell you a thing about it now, but as soon as he started showing clips the memories and nostalgia for that time started flooding in lol

Same here. Seeing this movie in theaters, with my dad, as a kid, was exciting as hell. Even though he was asleep during most of it, snoring, which was funny, this movie, right here, THIS movie, is where my all-time favorite anime voice actor got his start, Johnny Yong Bosch, the dude who played Adam in this movie, and on the show, as the Black Ranger, dude was awesome. I still enjoy this movie somewhat, and I'm still a Power Rangers fan, but I don't watch it as much, because where I live, we don't have cable. But I still love the series, and I'd still watch this movie if I could, if it were still showing on tv somewhere or something. As a reminder or tribute of corny 90's action, with people in suits, punching and kicking bad guys in suits, and using giant robots while corny 90's rock music plays, that's where movies like this were meant to shine... and it perfectly reached it's audience, kids who grew up, watching Power Rangers on tv, and wanted to see them on the big screen, kicking bad guys asses! And the movie works there, for those reasons, but as an adult, this kind of movie still works, in a certain way, but it's not as good as it was, back in the day. But, at least Johnny Bosch is still doing great work. And, I'll always gladly be a Power Rangers fan, even if the show ends. Because I love this show, and the movie. So I say, long live the Power Rangers!

"kicking someone in the balls is for emergency use only" is actually a pretty good lesson to teach kids. as someone who has been kicked there as a child by another child for fun, I wholeheartedly will teach kids not to do that unless they absolutely have to. hate to be that serious guy in the comments, but this had to be said.
Aside from this being a hilarious movie, i still find it really impressive that most of the shots in the film with all the rangers look really good. Logistically it must have been a nightmare trying to get all rangers to look good in '95, kinda like the last Avengers movie. Give credit where credit's due.
FUN FACT. The CGI effect at 6:09 was added in later. Originally Rocky and Adam kick the Ooze guy and his head explodes into ooze, like the other Ooze deaths. An exec at Fox thought it was too violent so they gave it that Looney Tunes effect instead in post. The film admittedly slows down in the middle with the parents subplot and CGI zords were executed poorly, but I still love this movie. I'd have to give it a C+. As a Ranger fan, it was cool seeing the Rangers face something they're unfamiliar with and lose their powers rather than repeat an episode of the show, otherwise why make a movie? The orchestral score is beautiful. It makes for great listening on its own. Objectively, the protagonists don't really learn anything about themselves or grow as characters, even though Tommy pretends they learned something important at the end. Though the scenes where they learned that stuff were cut out when Dulcea changed actresses. Plus, no characters have any solo time or personal conflicts. So it's got some room plot and writing wise, but otherwise mostly delivers on what you expect from a Power Rangers movie in my opinion.
Okay since Chris reviewed the first Power Rangers Movie he should do a Hilariousity review of the sequel Turbo A Power Rangers Movie because it's even worse than the first movie.
See, I always wanted to be the yellow ranger. Nothing against the pink ranger but as a kid, I tended to like the "smart girl" characters who could stay level-headed in the middle of a crisis. Also I used to hate the color pink.

TheBraunMachine2011 that's because the same team that did Doomsday did Lord of the Rings, Cloverfield, Incredible Hulk, and all that. Apparently they like the things from Gears of War but with no junk and covered in spikes and goo. Kind of how Gilmore Del Toro uses the same team to make action figure like rubber creatures.

IKR he just lied to us the movie was totally filmed in Australia and not the US lol smh, Plus I loved Trini not Kimberly and Then I moved on to Adam cause Trini was gone. I have always wanted to see what the actual version of the movie with Zach, Jason and Trini have been like before they were replaced by Rocky Aisha and Adam. They actually filmed some of the movie with the original Rangers

Everything he's ever said "I grew up with this" I watched and followed as well (except dragonball). I also watched and played countless other things as well.

Correcting the mistakes of this video. 1) It is Adam, the Black Ranger, that says "Welcome to Jurassic Park" when the rangers are walking through the dinosaurs bone grave not the Blue Ranger. 2) It is RYAN'S comet not Ivan's comet. 3) Ivan Ooze was locked away in the rotten egg for 6,000 years. 4) Fred was blasting the parents and kids with water to prevent them from falling over the cliff. But yeah. I still love the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers movie.

beatlesloversprims Me too. Its because of how much Power Rangers meant to me that Johnny Bosch became my favorite Voice actor, after i heard his voice in Bleach and Trigun. That's a big reason why i watched those shows.
Agreed. The pink ranger was really hot, actually the best part of the entire show I guess. I hope the new movie might be less stupid and a little more rational.

The movie was perfect for its audience: Kids. It was very well done. Of course, like yourself or all of us who have re-watched it as adults note MANY things that do not make sense at all. My main problems with this movie are: 1. Tommy and Kimberly are the main characters. The rest are just there. Rocky was the least present. 2. Very little scenes of them morphed. 3. I agree the second act in the planet and the story of Ivan controlling the parents was boring as hell, even as a kid I would often skip many scenes. 4. The one liners, indeed, are stupid as hell. It was good for the 90's, did not age well, and it was good for the kids back then.
@@codyclaeys2008 Let me rephrase then: 3. Because the plot involves them losing and trying to get their powers, very little scenes are visible of them morphed, and a huge selling point for kids would’ve been to see them in action in suits…and perhaps sell more toys …is that better?
@@arturocas90 I remember thinking they did not have enough morphing fights. On the contrary they gave us zoids, ninjetti and their original selves fighting in scenes. I love this film as it introduced me to MMPR as a kid. The show I remember disliking as their suits were like tights.
The Digimon movie made sense if you were in Japan and had seen all Digimon episodes released at that point because it continued the story. Americans didn't have all the episodes Japan had yet so the movie made no sense whatsoever.
@@TheUnknownDungeon I remember liking the bits that I could understand, and the fact that so many of the outlines were in red instead of the standard black I'd always seen in animation was fascinating for me. I also got one of the newer digimon as a birthday gift some time later. The rabbit with the two gatling guns for hands. I still have it around somewhere, and I still love the idea of it. That character design just screams "wouldn't it be cool if we did this?". Also, if you liked the old Digimon movie, then I highly recommend watching Summer Wars. It's kind of like a spiritual remake of Digimon, but without the IP. There's a big MMO game, and a lot of the plot happens IRL. I think it was made by the same studio that basically wanted to try a redo of the movie they were trying to make with Digimon, but without the limitations they had to work with.
Reviewing as an adult obviously it's going to suck compared to a 7 year old. It's a bit stupid comparing it to now. It's now aimed at 2017 adults it's aimed at 90's children. Fuck me.
+YouFailandIWin great point, think of all the great movies aimed at for kids/families like The Sandlot, The Mighty Ducks, Hook, Toy Story, The Lion King, Beauty & The Beast, Little Giants (naming films from that era specifically), and broadening the time span? Think of all the classic 80s films aimed toward children & families like The Goonies & E.T., and Pixar films being made today like Toy Story 3, Up, Inside Out...
The whole time Chris was going on about the Pink Ranger, "That's the impossible. That'll never happen..." I was expecting it to cut to a picture of his wife cosplaying as her. It seemed like such an intentional setup for something like that.
