I am 51 and I have rarely had a Doctor ask me a qualifying question when I have reported “headache” as a symptom! Such an informative video. Thank-you, Dr. Reeves.
I just adore Dr Andrew Reeves videos. Has anyone had zigzag lightning bolt blood vessels across the sclera of one eye, & seeming injury after an aberrant "migraine"? I would be so grateful to gain hints at medical keywords for my search. It wasn't the normal kind of migraine. It came on very sudden, with a fast climax, that sustained intensely, and was consistently "directly behind my eyes". I got really manic, and kept exclaiming; "this is different. It's behind my eyes", while I rocked back and forth coddling my eye sockets for hours. I've never experienced "Injury" from a migraine. The vessels returned to normal, but ever since this happened 6 months ago, I've had pain behind this one eye when tracking (whatever muscles & structures move the eye for tracking), as well as sensitivity & prolonged pulsating pain response (like a fresh burn) when exposed to sharp gusts of air, or a sudden bright light in darkness (hate headlights at night). Despite consistent description of pain experienced in structures behind the eye, triggered by tracking, the Ophthalmologist acted perturbed when he declared he'd ruled out issues with the eye itself, and that the structures behind the eye controlling tracking weren't within his purview. He refused to tell me what specialist covered that area. I'm S.O.L. for finding a medical ally, so I figure I'll keep up my autodidactic researching in hopes I'll learn what to ask for. Were it not for various stumbling blocks, I'd have pursued becoming a medical doctor. Just like learning a language, every field of knowledge reveals itself through a hearty deep dive into it's lexicon. Researching the field is a relaxing hobby until my Left Eye get's so sore I have to constantly squeeze it closed, which also hurts.. La La La Life. Really wish I'd gotten a photo to show people of the INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL broad deep red classic lightning bolt ⚡️ blood vessels. Not sure if it classified as a Cluster Headache, tho my search phrases seem to churn out that result more dominantly. I shall remain bhuddist about it until I can find evidence of a solution. Goddess grace & blessings to those who suffer "brain-a-geddons", and to those who huddle by loved ones feeling helpless. My Greatest breakthrough was a slowly acquired skill that popped up during the worst (kill me now, couldn't stop schrieking) migraines: Suddenly, I "Transcended" the suffering by watching "Now become Was" (via a visual of a huge Red Dot that would appear, and then fall away). I had been partaking in the free drop in Guided Mindfulness Meditation sessions put on my UCLA's "Mindful Awareness Research Center". (marc.ucla.edu). Coping with endometriosis & a lifetime of dissociation, or deep hell realms feeling the suffering would never, I was liberated from the sense of permanence; probably because... in this circumstance... "the pain was only in my head, instead of somewhere worse"... (feel free to laugh, to sigh, and/or scoff. All options are valid and apply. It's your chicken dinner winner.)
Informative video! Is it advisable to see a neurologist if one has annoying but not life-altering one-sided headaches? For example, mine seems similar to SUNA but without the tearing/eye-drooping: moderate pain/pressure that builds up and then quickly dissipates in a 15-20 second long sawtooth pattern, separated by 2-5 minutes between attacks, and repeating for 2-3 days, about 2-4 times per year over the past 8 years, always at the same temporal location. (49 yrs old, headaches started at 41)
Well, if it was me, I would see a neurologist about it. For example, a trial indomethacin wouldn't take long to work if it's a trigeminal autonomic cephalgia. And there is an emerging role for anti-CGRP medications in atypical headache syndromes.
I have occipital and Trigeminal neuralgia, Chiari malformation, chronic migraines. P.s. I have had brain surgeries for some of these as the pain was that bad
