If we are trying to migrate from SAS Grid to Viya 4.0, 1). Are we going to get the parallel processing/loading feature/functionality in SPRE like we do in SAS Grid?, apart from CAS server (I know that CAS does the parallel processing/loading). If SPRE does the parallel processing/loading, where actually the processing takes place, is it on the Disk?.. 2). Seems users need to learn CASL in order to utilize the CAS functionality fully. Is my understanding correct?.
1). This SAS Communities post may help with your SAS Grid questions: 2.sas.com/6057PZsbb If this does not help, please let us know or you can reach out to the Technical Support team for additional help with your migration. 2). To a certain extent, the training you take will depend on your job role. If you are an administrator, then the SAS Viya Administration classes will be more useful to take first. You'll see the Viya Administration classes on this learning path: 2.sas.com/6059PZsbd -- in particular we would recommend the SAS Viya Administration and the SAS Viya Operations classes. But, an administrator may not need to take the CASL classes. An administrator who is also maintaining programs may want to take the CASL classes after the administrative classes. However, a programmer who is converting existing programs to run in SAS Viya or a programmer who is writing new programs will benefit from taking the Programming and CASL courses that you'll find here: 2.sas.com/6051PZsb5 and here: 2.sas.com/6052PZsbg .
